I was drawn to the idea that a grassroots organization needs a busininess model that allows volunteers to trancend the "Single Issue" temporary team that dissapates after the vote or event that it was formed for. This group of dedicated activists is in the neighborhood where the rubber meets the road on a daily basis changing hearts and minds one door at a time. There is nothing out there that preserves the enthusiasm for a cause and applies it to the in person conversations to further many progressive ideas. They are building a database of not just how folks voted but why. This deliniates areas for future campaigns like no demograhic poll that I've seen. Having a board with many years of business and marketing skills will help guide them to maximize the resources and tap areas they may have have not been aware of. I view the Boards role as a guide and Mentor for them to grow and be good stewards of the funds they raise.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
educating and persuading registered voters to support progressive ideas
