SciEnTeK-12 Foundation (known as SARSEF)
September 6, 2010

This foundation has been running the Southern Arizona Regional Science and Engineering Fair and helped bring the Math Science and Technology FunFest to the full Southern Arizona Community. The delight of seeing these outstanding youngsters go Wow! over what they see and do at the FunFest is so rewarding and and then to see so many who compete and are rewarded for their hard work is what makes this volunteer activity the best job I have ever had!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My review tells it all. The warm fuzzy feeling and simply great satisfaction is all a volunteer needs to want to continue.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would want to raise more funding so we could serve more students and reward more of those who make it to Regional Fair. I would also like to see the FunFest be a model for a local science center.

More feedback

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

just seeing the great kids who have ben involved. Plus the hope that we have inspired some of the kids to pursue the study of math, science, and technology. They now know it leads to fun and rewards.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

In both programs FunFest & SARSEF, we have the good fortune of working with close to 1,000 volunteers a year. All of these have been wonderful and seem to love the cchildren tht go through both programs.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Reach every kid in the huge region of southern Arizona, provide full ride scholarships to top high school students, provide awards to every student selected to go to SARSEF, and hire an Executive Director to do what is now done by a Volunteer President.

Ways to make it better...

we could have increased the number of awards and especially college scholarships.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Fundraising appears to be the biggest challenge while equally challenging is reaching more of the non participating schools and students.

One thing I'd also say is that...

All aspects of this great foundation is an incredibly rewarding experience
