BookEnds was started by a young boy who visited an LA based orphanage and discovered that there were no books available for the children at that institution. He took it upon himself to surprise his mother by collecting upwards of 800 books at school that year -- asking his mother to please bring the station wagon for pick up right before the winter holidays, Robin M. Keefe who is now the president of BookEnds initially thought that the larger car was needed because they would be pet sitting over the school break. But instead she found a happy Brandon, proud to take the first steps towards an organization which has now successfully donated over 2,000,000 books promoting literacy all over the city of LA.

I have personally experienced the results of this organization as I have witnessed how children get empowered by the process both as donors and recipients of books.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
how many wonderful people and organizations I have come to learn about but more importantly how many thousands of children have been served by it.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
extremely bright, dedicated and caring.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
implement important changes in child education both here in LA, nationwide and internationally.
When was your last experience with this nonprofit?
Board Member & Volunteered in book drives, co-chaired a fundraising event and attended events at locations ranging from the LA Court House where children were getting adopted to the John Tracy Clinic and the Ronal McDonaold House.
