Review for Yggdrasil Urban Wildlife Rescue, SAN FRANCISCO, CA, USA
I've been the raccoon team leader for YUWR for 4 years. In the past 10 years, I've volunteered with 3 different wildlife centers, and I like YUWR the best by far. Because it's a small center and most of the animal care is foster care, we can be very flexible and very specific in our support of each animal we look after. There's room in the organization for all kinds of people, with all kinds of talents and abilities. Lila, the Director of YUWR, is one of the kindest, gentlest and smartest women I know, and never stops working for the animals. I love working with Lila because of her intelligence, flexibility and good nature, as well as the wonderful way she has of making everyone feel appreciated for the work they do. I love working with YUWR because I feel so privileged to work closely with wildlife, and to have the freedom to do everything I can to improve the foster care experience for both the animals and the volunteers. I can't recommend YUWR more highly!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in the relief and gratitude of people who bring injured and orphaned wildlife to us. And in seeing countless healthy, wild animals return to live their wild, free lives.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I would like to see YUWR with a new, permanent home and a salary for Lila. It's nearly impossible for her to continue this work unless she has some financial support.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the animals and the people who give so much of their lives to help them.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
All kinds! Most absolutely wonderful!
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Do just about anything! For starters, we could have a hospital site with onsite educational facilities, provide train the trainer programs, provide the local police and animal care services with training, and do research we so need to improve our outcomes
Ways to make it better...
It is wonderful as it is, but we need a new, permanent home site!
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Financial....we need a new home.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Thank you, Lila!
