My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for United States Catholic Conference, San Antonio, TX, USA
I discovered VIDES when I was in college looking for a summer volunteer program. I was immediately drawn to their mission of empowering young people and women and the many types of service opportunities that the organization was able to provide. I participated in the mandatory Formation/Service Camp and learned even more what the organization is all about. VIDES promotes the DIGNITY of women around the globe, regardless of education, nationality, age, etc. At a global level, VIDES advocates for the promotion of women through participation at the United Nations. On a smaller scale, the volunteers themselves work hand in hand with women to help them achieve self-sufficiency, independence, self-confidence and the dignity that is a basic right of all individuals. After my service ended, I have continued to return to the Formation/Service Camps to help prepare new volunteers for their service experiences all around the world. I hear their stories when they return, and we inspire each other to continue living lives of services and promoting the vulnerable in our home communities--especially young people and women.
