VISIONS VESSELS AND VICTORY INC

I volunteer at the Visions, Vessels and Victory, Inc. nonprofit organization every month. The VVV is the local food pantry in Gilmer Co., WV. The founder and Executive Director is Deana Burke and the Director is Greg Shackleford. The volunteers (me included) work very hard and pack boxes of food to provide citizens some extra food in these economically hard times. The VVV also provides clothing for families. They are trying to build a warehouse to store building materials for people at a fraction of the retail price. This organization truly does care for the people of the counties they serve. The counties they serve are Gilmer, Wirt, Berkley, Nicholas and Ritchie is in process. They have been asked to try and start a VVV in Wood and McDowell counties and 2 in Ohio. The home base of the program is here in Gilmer Co. They accept donations and encourage volunteering. We have a wonderful time and it is a wonderful, fulfilling opportunity to help people in the community.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

see that they had the money available to do all the good works that they want to do. To help them build and grow. Wonderful organization.

really serve the areas of need in West Virginia and get more things accomplished. It would be great.

Ways to make it better...

I could be there every month at the start of the day instead of sometimes not being able to get there until noon or after.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

financial/ having moneys to do the good work that they want to do and to continue what they are doing for the people

One thing I'd also say is that...

this organization is operated by very caring and religious people that have had hardships in their personal lives and it seems to made them more committed to helping others.
