For more than 30 years, Pisgah Legal Services has pursued justice by providing civil (non-criminal) legal assistance to low-income people.
For our clients, justice is not just an abstract ideal.
It is food, shelter and protection.
Every day we receive dozens of phone calls from people who:
- are about to be evicted from their home;
- are trying to escape domestic violence;
- have been denied access to health care;
- need food, utilities, subsistence income
and other essentials.
For these people, only an attorney can solve their problem, and Pisgah Legal Services is the only resource for the civil legal help they need.
We have also:
Partnered with dozens of other agencies to provide comprehensive services for people in crisis;
Maximized resources by leveraging the pro bono services of more than 300 area attorneys; and
Earned a reputation for management excellence and good stewardship of charitable resources.
In 2009, we served 10,122 low-income people, helping them stay in their homes, get access to health care, and find protection from domestic abuse.
