I was diagnosed with late stage breast cancer and was set very much apart from ordinary life.I needed to learn more about the disease that was at the least changing my life drastically or at the most taking it completely. At Share I found an organization that offered the medical information I needed to understand what was happening to me within an environment that was emotionally nourishing. I also realized that my diagnosis put me in the position of being able to make a unique contribution to others. Share enabled me to do that by including me into their group going to Washington D.C. to lobby for medical research. In addition, I needed help to regain physical strength after very extreme surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Once again Share came through as their exercise program was geared to do just that. I am now feeling well and involved in an active life. Every once in a while I come in contact with a woman who has been newly diagnosed. It is always the same-- this woman is scared, bewildered, demoralized. Share is there, Share will help, Share's reason for being continues.
