Bayou Land Conservancy
April 25, 2010
I only joined the Legacy Land Trust board a year ago, and I am committed to the organization’s mission of land preservation within the Houston vicinity. Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the U.S.A, and this diversity is echoed in the landscape. Our region’s fauna and flora is influenced by the convergence of costal prairies, wetlands, and piney wood forests that share our space. Recognizing the influence of uncontrolled urban sprawl on our precious resources, LLT provides an opportunity for us to conserve some of these special places for future generations. The “No Child Left Inside” program demonstrates the commitment to environmental education, and provides the tools for future stewards to protect this limited resource.
“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul” - John Muir.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Commitment to conservation activities and the incorporation of children's education in the LLT mission.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
The desire to give back to the community despite limited resources - e.g. No Child Left Inside Program.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and students learning about nature and providing community services.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Purchase vital land along the Spring Creek Greenway Corridor and create a sanctuary for Houstonians to enjoy nature.
