My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for WENAR PRODUCTIONS LIMITED ACTORS CONSERVATORY THEATRE, Yonkers, NY, USA
I have been involved with this superb organization for over four decades, participating as musical director, pianist, composer, actor, and audience member.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the high standards of excellence expected and achieved combined with a warm, wholesome family feel. One makes lifelong, revered friendships by working with this organization.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
afford to find a performance space with an orchestra pit so that the musical director could see and hear the cast clearly and make adjustments if the singing veers in unexpected directions. Currently, the orchestra is behind a screen behind the cast.
Ways to make it better...
recent orchestras that I have conducted as musical director had not been positioned behind the cast and behind a screen, thus necessitating the musical director to "fly blind" with regard to hearing the cast and adjusting to cast script deviations.
One thing I'd also say is that...
Nevertheless, I do understand and appreciate why the orchestra needs to be positioned behind the cast and behind a screen - namely, the need for more space for audience members with the resultant extra revenue for expenses.
