HOMEWARD BOUND OF MARIN
February 1, 2010
I have always been touched by Homeward Bound’s mission and philosophy, which can be summed up in the Chinese proverb: Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. It is that empowerment of those in need that drew me to choose Homeward Bound as a place to volunteer.
Homeward Bound provides opportunities for folks to develop skills in the culinary arts, landscape maintenance, janitorial maintenance, as well as computer skills and life management skills. It truly is a joy to observe clients who grow into, or return to being, productive, contributing members of society.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the privilege it is to spend a few hours a month with the folks who labor so passionately at the administrative offices for Homeward Bound.
