Review for Wings Program, Inc., Palatine, IL, USA

Rating: 4 stars

I have been a volunteer at WINGS for many years. This program really makes a difference in our ladies' lives and their children. We give them a place to live and feel safe when no one else does. We give them food and clothing. We give them the required skills and tools to get them on their feet, make them strong and ready for the next step in their lives. I am proud to be affiliated with such a wonderful organization.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

observing the growth and the increased feeling of selfworth of the individual ladies.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated, hard working and caring. The world is a better place because of them.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

invest the funds so that it would have a monthly income to support all of our homes and safe house so more energies could be spent on supporting the women and their children versus raising funds to keep our homes open.

Ways to make it better...

we had more time to plan.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

obtaining funding so no woman would have to be turned away because we did not have the funds to support her and her children.

One thing I'd also say is that...

this is an excellent organization. Most people think homelessness or battered women are only poor or uneducated women. That is totally wrong. People also think it is only a city issue. That is totally wrong. The subburbs need a place for woment to go

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Volunteer & Anything the organizaton needs me to do. I work all types of fund raisers. I have taken care of children, driven women to docotors appointments and wrapped gifts at book stores for donations. I have been a one-on-one mentor for many years providing ongo.
