Homeaid America Inc
April 5, 2013

HomeAid America is the parent organization of 15 local chapters that provide housing for the transitionally homeless across the country. HomeAid America was founded in 1989 by the building industry in Southern California and has grown steadily since. As a Board member, I see the great work HomeAid does to establish chapters around the country and then support them as they grow and flourish. By the end of 2013, HomeAid chapters will have built over 325 housing projects for homelessness-related charities nationwide, with a total value of over $200 million. Of this, nearly 50% of the value--$100 million--was donated to the charities by HomeAid and its building partners. It is an amazing model that has made a real difference in addressing homelessness.

HomeAid's Colorado Chapter is extremely active in helping local homeless care providers add facilities to expand their services. HAC has built over 30 facilities in its 10 years of existence and continues with its good work even during the homebuilding industry's current downturn.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the increased capacity it gives care providers in Colorado.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

not change anything!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the caring nature of the staff and volunteers.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

professional and dedicated.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

building even more housing for homeless care providers in Colorado.

Ways to make it better...

HomeAid had more money to work with!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

shortage of funding and in-kind contributions from the homebuilding industry.

One thing I'd also say is that...

keep up the great work!
