As a call-intake volunteer, Lots of people call PCRC who are very upset about some disagreeable interaction they are having with someone else. I have had many opportunities to be a calm objective listening post and I always feel satisfied with the opportunity I have to help some very upset people find a manageable way forward. Because I came to PCRC after a serious depressive episode in my life, I appreciated the friendly approach they exhibited in training me and I found that helping other people really does bring more benefits to me than it does to the person I have helped. These all sound like cliches but they are true. I am personally grateful to PCRC for helping to give me the training and the opportunity to help other people.
