My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Mercy Medical Angels, Virginia Beach, VA, USA
On the afternoon of November 29, 2012, I heard the unforgettable and long awaited words, "You've just been accepted at the Mayo Clinic Neurological Department. We look forward to seeing you in Rochester, MN, on January 15, 2013, at 12:45 pm." Having been ill for nearly three years with multiple complex neurological conditions, MS, and a spinal cord injury, without any successful treatment, I was determined to find help. I viewed this as my last opportunity. To get an appointment that quickly at the prestigious Mayo Clinic was amazing. Shortly after the call ended, reality set in. How am I going to get to Rochester, Minnesota? In moderate panic, I contacted a number of people who could advise me on this matter. The MS Society recommended that I contact Aircharitynetwork.com and that was my ticket! Literally, it was my ticket! Through Air Charity Network, I reached Mercy Medical Airlift (MMA). MMA answered my request for assistance in a matter of hours. From the beginning, I felt their sense of urgency and drive to make this trip possible for me. I worked closely with Cathy Kelly, who was kind and caring. She walked me through every step and gave me the wonderful news that I would be flying on a commercial flight to my destination. At a time when life is looking a little too short, and the problems are seemingly insurmountable, it isn't easy to remain positive and hopeful. MMA doesn't let you worry. They assured me the impossible was possible, and because of the people at Mercy Medical Airlift, I did arrive on time for my scheduled appointment at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. I don't know anyone who does it better! I was given every consideration. I felt the their genuine concern about getting me to Rochester. They were very gracious to my patient advocate and care giver, who was accompanying me on this journey. Because of the short time in which MMA had to make this all possible, I realized that MMA staff had much to do in a matter of days. I will be eternally grateful for their incredible efforts, support, and encouragement during one of the most difficult times of my life. Kudos, Mercy Medical Airlift! Your compassion lifts the wings of every plane flying patients to much needed diagnostics and treatment on MMA flights! Thank you so very much!
