Review for Acterra: Action For A Healthy Planet, Palo Alto, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Acterra provides a variety of activities to help motivate environmental awareness and responsibility. We enjoyed a moonlight hike through the Arastradero Preservee to the top of a hill. There we heard an astronomy talk and admired the stars. Acterra clearly deserves a prize. Florence and Rolf Beier

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The people involved and the hikes.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Dedicated, friendly, helpful

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Clean up the watershed and wetlands.

Ways to make it better...

They had more activities further north on the Peninsul

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Passivity and ignorance about environmental issues.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I hope they win this contest.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2008

Role:  Donor & Went on several guided hikes.

Review for Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center, San Mateo, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been a volunteer with the PCRC for about 15 years and have seen it grow from a valuable service for resolving neighborhood disputes to a much broader community resource. From training kindergarteners to solve conflicts (and thereby their parents) to easing school bullying, preventing gang violence, building strong neighborhoods, and facilitating difficult ciy/county issues PCRC has become an essential element in civic peace.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The personal satisfaction of seeing people move to a better place in their lives. Working with an excemplary group of volunteers and staff.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Dedicated, skilled, open to learning, cooperative,

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Train more teachers and students, have an on-going program to educate lawyers and judges about ADR, pay higher salaries and support more staff, expand to entire Peninsula

Ways to make it better...

If more people understood the value of mediation and facilitated meetings.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Outreach to clients and finance

One thing I'd also say is that...

PCRC deserves respect and support by everyone.
