This sanctuary offers personalized and special care to primates that have retired from research. The staff and volunteers show tremendous care and compassion towards their residents. Respect is a key word that is used towards not only the retirees that live there but also towards the research institutions that have made such concerted efforts to place their animals here. I have worked at a medical school where animal research is performed for almost 20 years and I was thrilled to see a place formed where the animals could live out their lives happily instead of being euthanized. I have never seen anyone as passionate about this cause than Mrs. Rivera-Clauder. She is a true inspiration!
