Review for National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty, Washington, DC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

NLCHP is one of the most effective national groups in the fight to end homelessness and poverty in America. The staff and volunteers promote positive social change on a daily basis through their work with grassroots advocates, the private bar, students, and direct service providers.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the thousands of homeless children across the country who now have access to school and related services due to NLCHP's advocacy and technical assistance.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated, passionate, and experts in their fields.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2007

Role:  General Member of the Public & When I was part of the staff, I raised money for NLCHP's programs.

Review for Center for Family Services, Inc., Meadville, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Center for Family Services does AMAZING work with a tiny budget. They provide assistance for everything from housing to parenting education.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Move into a new building to better serve its clients, increase the number of staff, and expand existing programs.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2006

Role:  Volunteer & I helped with the family intake process, taught the Teen Anger Management class, mentored children, and provided clerical assistance.

Review for Running Start, Washington, DC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Even though Running Start has only been around for a little over a year, the group has managed to make a huge difference in the lives of young women across the country. With a staff that consists primarily of volunteers, Running Start not only inspires young women to run for office, but also provides them with the tools to do so.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the 50 high school girls who attended the Young Women's Leadership Retreat and left feeling like they could make a difference in their communities by getting involved in the political process.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2008

Role:  Volunteer & I volunteered at the Young Women's Leadership Retreat.
