I have been pleased to be on the board of Aid for Africa for a number of years. It was founded to help grassroots development on the ground in Sub Saharan Africa and it is doing that through its support of organizations focused on health, education, microfinance, agriculture, wildlife conservation, and more. Aid for Africa fosters partnership among these organizations, which work throughout Sub Saharan Africa, so that lessons and best practices can be shared and results improved. Aid for Africa is unique in its strong focus on research-focused development, which is reflected in its partnership with leading development organizations and its endowment at Tufts University that provides for graduate students to conduct research in Africa during the summer. I also find that Aid for Africa’s strict eligibility requirements and transparency ensures donors that financial contributions are well managed.
