JEWISH ENRICHMENT CENTER
October 15, 2009

This organization, "JEC", is dishonest about its intent, affiliations, and actions. It pretends to be a non-religious or unaffiliated organization, but is a front for ultra-orthodox rabbis to pressure you to become more religious: http://www.forward.com/articles/112920/ http://www.forward.com/articles/113276/ Their name, brand, and events are all knockoffs, and they've been scamming Birthright alumni and officials for the last few years. I often see events on facebook that look like another organization's events, and that are misleading JEC events.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

being duped into attending religious events, and pressured to do religious activities.

Metropolitan New York Coordinating Council on Jewish Poverty
October 15, 2009

The Met Council frequently spams their entire lists just to get a single volunteer for a non-emergency need, or to ask us to vote for them for something. They run wasteful fundraisers full of lavish food that could go to the people they help, and their workers are non-responsive and take forever to get nothing done. I'm sure they do a lot of good, but I'm also fairly positive their organization is a wasteful mess that could be much better managed.
