Beech Brook
December 1, 2012

For a year now I have volunteered at Beech Brook Equine Farm. On the selfish side, I can say I am so happy with how much I have learned about horse care and how much I love being outside with the horses. I have been riding and around horses for many years, but continue to learn when I am there about how a horse thinks and acts, and how we can help them heal and become productive and active parts of the lives of new ownders/adopters. Beech Brook teaches confidence in animals and humans, especially young people. The organization attracts those who care deeply about helping and rehabilitating unwanted animals. If people learn to care for animals, they in turn learn to care for other people. That is the nature of volunteerism. A look at all the knowledgeable, professional, committeed people who volunteer their time at the barn is an indicator of the ability of Deborah and the Board to build a successful equine rescue facility.

Beech Brook Farm
June 18, 2012

I started volunteering at Beech Brook in Dec 2011. Right away I saw it as a safe, welcoming place for both horses and humans. The horses have a strong sense of self esteem and confidence, and I know most did not arrive that way. Even the older horses have spirit and life, and are interested in what goes on around them. The life they show is in response to the care and love they are given. Deb Finco, Kathleen, Kathy, trainers, and volunteers all have built a kind and constructive farm where good horses can be found, and where people are given friendliness and useful equine education. I hope the place goes on forever.
