OPERATION WRITE HOME
October 18, 2012

I recently learned how to make greeting cards and because there are only so many cards you can make to send to family and friends, I came across Operation Write Home on the internet. This organization supplies handmade greeting cards, made by volunteers, to service men and women across the branches of military to send home to their family and loved ones. For me this is a win/win situation. I get to exercise my creativity and help military men and women. When OWH shares thank you letters written by the recipients of the cards, I know that I'm doing a wonderful thing. OWH guides us through the process with tutorials and the service members also look forward to receiving our cards. This a very worthwhile organization and I'm very proud to be part of it.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

In thank you letters from the recipients.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

make none. Sandy Allnock, who seems to be the person who runs everything, is motivating, instructional and a wonderful person.

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

none

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

I've learned so much about papercrafting with the tutorials.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

This was a most positive experience that made me feel wonderful helping others. The military puts so much on the line for us at home and this is just a small thing that I can personally do for them. If I can help them and their loved ones in a small way, it gives me great pleasure to do it.

OPERATION WRITE HOME
April 6, 2012

I discovered Operation Write Home on the internet and thought this was a great idea to give back to the service men and women who protect our country. OWH is well organized and encouraging to its volunteers. I love hearing from the service men/women and their families about their experiences sending/receiving our cards. Not only am I helping OWH but I have an opportunity to be creative. It's a win/win situation. Thank you OWH for all that you do.
