Inlet Dance Theatre

I've known Bill Wade, the Founder and Artistic Director of Inlet, for 11 years and had the privilege of serving on Inlet's inaugural Board for 4 years. Serving on Inlet's Board was an amazing and rewarding experience. This organization truly works hard to follow Bill's credo, "Using Dance to Further People." I have personally seen amazing transformations in the lives of the youth - often underprivileged - who have worked with Inlet! Each member of this organization, most of whom are volunteers, give selflessly to help the students, interns and Company members alike to grow, deepen and develop both their character as well as their dance skills. There are very few organizations that I would give an unqualified endorsement to but Inlet is certainly one that I would wholeheartedly promote. Bill Wade is one of the finest and most creative artists I've ever known. His vision for Inlet has taken much personal sacrifice, I know, but it has produced an Arts Organization that is making a truly positive impact on every life they touch. I am proud to know and to have been associated with Inlet Dance Theatre!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

work to make sure that Bill was paid commensurate to his influence and creativity.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing youth with little or no chance for promotion being given the opportunity to succeed in the Arts and more especially in Life!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated, selfless and tireless in their efforts to the vision of the nonprofit.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Fund dance scholarships for many of the gifted but needy children of the Cleveland area that currently go without such vital arts education and experiences that Inlet could offer them.

Ways to make it better...

I could have spent more time working with Inlet before I had to move.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Educating the public including the public schools, regarding the value and benefit of the arts, dance in particular, for the lives of people and students in our world.

One thing I'd also say is that...

educators need to understand the value of arts in education in order for students to realize their FULL educational potential. Arts are NOT extraneous! Removing the creative in education is short-sighted and counterproductive, not to mention tragic!
