My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Virginia Beach Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (VBSPCA), Virginia Beach, VA, USA
My name is Jack Huh and I have been involved with the V.B. SPCA for a couple of years now. I went to them with no special skills on interacting with dogs but that was not an issue, they simply said we will train you. That is exactly what they did. Learning how to make a difference in the life of a dog and help with the process of adoption is a very rewarding experience.
This shelter places a major effort on the rehabiliation of dogs. This is not just a holding area for dogs, it is much more than that. These dogs are socialized, exercised and taught commands that will help them find their new forever homes.
Most dogs enter shelters through no fault of their own. Their owners simply have not spent the time with them that is required to make them part of the family.
The volunteers at this facility are guided by exceptionally capable people and safety is a number one concern for all.
This shelter is responsible for making my efforts in this area a passion for me.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
After being trained and guided by staff, of this facility, and seeing the results of your efforts when dog finds a new home is a very humbling experience.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Every organization could improve but I will say I am hard pressed to come up with anything that I would change. Perhaps expand the facility so more animals could benefit from the type of care given at V.B.
