In 2001 through 2005, my husband and I sponsored children through World Vision. The organization has been helping communities throughout the world for over 50 years. They are completely trustworthy and understand the power of prayer as much as the power of monetary support. It is obvious that they care deeply about the lives of others. World Vision registers with agencies in many states, so it is possible to request information about them directly, if you feel that is necessary. But I can assure you that they are highly organized and dependable. I have a great deal of respect for their humanitarian efforts and outreach.

The Great!
  • I've seen the results of this organization in... sponsoring two children with them. We received correspondence and drawings from the children, thank you notes and constant expressions of warmth.
  • What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... The genuine gratitude from the organization and children whose worlds you so obviously impact.
  • If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... help so many more children and their families than it does, especially with regard to facilities, education, sanitation and housing.
Ways to make it better!
  • My experience would have been better if... receiving mail from the children wasn't as slow a process, but there are many factors to be considered, including postage and translation.
  • If I ran this organization, I would... make sure it had even greater funds to accomplish all that it does.
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... funding, especially in these economic times.
  • One thing I'd also say is that... If you want to experience much joy, consider changing the life of a child.

I have been giving to World Vision since 1989 and have nothing but praise for the organization. 87% of their donations go directly to the people in the countries that need it. They are in over 100 countries around the world providing humanitarian relief efforts 24/7. I would highly encourage anyone to join them in helping the people of Haiti. They have 370 staff members on the ground although most of them are shell shocked from this disaster and need relief themselves. So please donate now to help the people of Haiti. Thank you!

The Great!
  • What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... It consistently gives to the poorest of the poor by teaching, training, providing basic services but also by helping people to help themselves. I know adults that were sponsored as children that are now leading productive lives.
Ways to make it better!
  • In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... a reduction in donations.
