This is a remarkable organization, one unlike any other I know in Houston. Weather Research Center is a budding nonprofit with a robust mission to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers, while helping Houstonians become better informed about weather safety. Staffed by meteorologists, WRC operates the nation’s first and only museum dedicated to weather science, education and safety. While still a relative newcomer in the Museum District, the John C. Freeman Weather Museum is nevertheless a unique contribution to Houston’s cultural landscape. It’s an inspiring place, particularly when you witness children coming from all over the city to improve their math and science skills while learning about weather.
