Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Education, Health, Health Care, Human Services
Mission: The Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Foundation was chartered in 1967 as a tax-exempt non-profit corporation. Its mission is the development and maintenance of its 38-acre campus with buildings leased to appropriate providers who serve those with mental and/or physical disabilities in an educationally inclusive environment. Goals include fund solicitation and the awarding of grants as well as education and research.
Target demographics: enhance the lives of intellectually and developmentally disabled children and adults
Direct beneficiaries per year: 200 children and adults on our campus.
Geographic areas served: Hampton Roads, Virginia
Programs: an inclusive Child Development Academy; a Business Services department; Day Support Programs including a Senior Program and a program that includes adults with autism; and five residential homes and one two-bedroom apartment housing a total of 30 adults on our campus. Eggleston provides the programs at the Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Center's 37 acres and 13 buildings that are owned by the Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Foundation.
