Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation
Description: LDCRF rescues dogs and cats from shelters with a high rate of euthanasia and at risk situations. Once in our care, we have them spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated if positive, and fully vaccinated. Once vetted (some require more vetting than others, ranging from routine dentals to leg and hip surgeries), the animals are placed up for adoption in the Northern Virginia area. While awaiting their new homes, animals not in foster care stay at the Lost Dog Ranch, a 60+ acre facility in Sumerduck VA. The ranch is also a sanctuary to several farm animals that have found their way to Lost Dog Ranch.
Someone who had 3 hours of volunteer time could: Volunteer as a dog handler at an adoption event! We can only bring as many dogs as we have handlers, and the more dogs we can bring, the more can find a home!

Once adopted, LDCRF enters into a contractual relationship with the adoptive family to ensure that the animal is properly cared for, and conducts follow ups to ensure this. LDCRF conducts public adoption events at area Petsmarts on weekends. These events are staffed by volunteers who interview prospective adopters, answer questions about the animals, and take advantage of the opportunity to educate the public on the benefits of spaying and neutering; the need to obtain proper veterinary care; and of providing basic obedience training to their pets.
-ALL of our animals are spayed/neutered prior to becoming available for adoption
