Bais Chana is the most incredible and magical group of people who inspire each other and one another daily to learn and grow and to do good. I believe every woman should get the opportunity to experience the love that is Bais Chana. To feel supported, cared for understood, and best of all a sense of community and sisterhood. I am so grateful for Bais Chana and my experience at Snorkel and Study 2024!! I miraculously got on this trip two days before and was with over 120 Jewish women, we all got to experience so much power in prayer and peace together. What an incredible experience that I will cherish forever! I am so lucky to have created friendships that are strong and we are still in touch! thank you Bais Chana!!
Bais Chana is a magical, loving, warm, and transformative experience that everyone needs to experience. From the amazing educational content, warm staff, and incredible experiences there is nothing else like Bais Chana
I have attended multiple Bais Chana events and retreats and can confidently say that I’ve learned more than I have in any other Jewish experience. I am very involved in what they do because of the people that work there and the joy that they bring. I’ve met so many new people that I’m still in contact with and have made some of my best friends during snorkel and study and sun and study. Also, the fundraisers that they host are so much fun and really bring the community together. In addition the teachers and counselors really love what they do, and it shows every day that they are there. They really care for the students and just want to spread light and joy to the community.
I had an incredible experience on the Bais Chana snorkel and study trip! The combination of engaging Torah study, meaningful discussions, and fun adventures like snorkeling made it truly the best experience. The supportive environment and inspiring teachers helped deepen my understanding of Jewish values while connecting with amazing people. It was the perfect balance of spiritual growth, learning, and relaxation. I highly recommend snorkel and study to anyone who is looking for a transformative and memorable experience!
Snorkel and Study was such an eye opening experience for me as a young Jewish woman. I’m so thankful to Bais Chana Women International Inc for the deep connection they sparked in my Jewish journey and the friends I’ve made along the way. Since Snorkel and Study, I’ve never felt more connected and proud to be Jewish. I hope that more women get to experience this amazing opportunity and find a deep connection to their Judaism. This program has impacted my life in such a positive way I am so grateful for everyone that has made this possible! My life has been forever changed for the best in so many ways, I can’t wait to keep growing and live a meaningful Jewish life.
Bais Chana has been many things for me, all of which I'm grateful for.:
* community of women to conect, share and grow with, all levels of knowledge and experience are embraced
* incredible six days that begin with daily Tehillim chapters, then we learn with incomparable Itty who teaches Chumash, Tanya, Hayom Yom and recently added Tehillim insights
* additional inspiring teachers who join us Thursday nights, Sunday mornings and before holidays
* events where we can meet in person and deepen our connections while intensifying learning
Join for minutes, the whole session or listen on SoundCoud later. It is as wonderful as it sounds. Join us.
Went there for 2 summers as a camper and it was amazing. Incredible staff and journey I had. Loved being in nature and doing art and having the best teacher, Rabbi Manis Friedman. I was submerged in good energy, love, warmth and truth.
BAIS CHANA.....A wonderful and caring Jewish woman’s organization. Their Zoom classes are top notch and always engaging. I finally took the chance and attended a six day Bais Chana women's retreat in Crown Heights, coming all the way from California where I reside. I met many friendly and kind co participants, comfortable accommodations, terrific food taken on their charming patio and took many morning
thru evening classes with remarkable teachers. We even had free time to explore a bit of Brooklyn and all went to the Ohel as a group. I highly recommend this fine organization wherever one is on their Jewish journey.
Words cannot adequately express my love of and appreciation for Bais Chana and the wonderful work and opportunities that they do and provide! They offer so many opportunities for learning and also provide support for Jewish women from all over the globe!! I plan my day to ensure that I can attend the online classes! And this past summer I attended my first Bais Chana Retreat in Crown Heights!!! What an awesome experience! Exceptional instructors, wonderful accommodations, Delicious food, plus the chance to meet and make friends!! And I am looking forward to the next!!
Daily, I feel privileged to attend a class in which ladies from around the world gather to say Tehillim together for Am Yisrael, along with studying Torah, Tanya, and Hayom Yom. I am learning so much! “The Daily” is hosted by the most wonderful lady who is so knowledgeable, inspirational, fun, sensitive, and kind. She is well versed in the topics and always makes each individual feel that they and their questions are important and add to the learning of everyone.
I also attend two weekly classes: 1) Beyond the Basics Parasha, and 2) Chassisus Infusion—both of which have insightful, very learned instructors.
My life has been so enriched by attending these classes! I am grateful to Bais Chana for providing these opportunities for my spiritual and intellectual growth, as well as connecting me with other Jewish women with similar needs and interests.
I went to Jewish UNcamp this year and I can honestly say it was the highlight of two years. Three weeks in Virginia on a camp: I met so many amazing girls and by the end of the first week we had all made such strong connections with each other.
The food was delicious and we were fed very well. Every meal had a good mix of proteins, carbohydrates and vegetables. There were many activities to be busy with including the following: rock climbing, pottery making, stargazing, ice-skating, dancing, learning Tanya and so much more. If I mentioned it all, we would be here for a while. I think I had some of the most satisfying nights of sleep on my top bunk just because I was so tired!
I haven’t had much of a Jewish education but I found the classes really interesting and I learnt so much from them. They were all very relevant and what I’ve taken from them has changed the way I perceive so many things in my life and subsequently my relationship with G-d has grown stronger.
By the end of the three weeks, I was so sad to leave. I was a bit on the fence when signing up originally but it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
We have been sending our high school aged daughter to UnCamp for 3 summers now. We are deeply grateful that such a summer program exists—warm, open, fun, and intellectually as well as spiritually enlightening. She has benefited greatly from each year she has attended and is looking forward to next summer!
Bais Chana is a wonderful resource for Jewish women of all ages.
They offer Jewish learning, community connection and pampering retreats.
They also have special offerings for moms, including single moms.
Check it out
Bais Chana is a phenomenal organization. They are organized and create a smoother user experience for their community, and even more importantly, they are inspirational and magical!
I’ve been involved with them for a year now. I joined their retreat for college girls which changed my life in many positive ways, and have stayed involved by joining many of their online classes. I have learned so much from them and been transformed in profound ways. I recommend Bais Chana programs to my friends.
The programs Bais Chana oeganizes are all incredible- educaitonal, inspiring, and done with such joy, enthusiasm and careful preparation. I was "introduced" to this group by my study partner, and have had the pleasure of attending daily sessions to study Torah, Tanya, HaYom Yom and Psalms. These sessions were all added when the war began in Israel. They are inaddition to a weekly session about various topics, another about the parsha, and still another about Tanya. The group also regularly conducts special classes for
the holiday and other event, such as the Yahrzeit of the Rebbe's mother. The leaders of the sessions are always knowledgeable and so kind in their responses to any comments or questions. This group is amazing!

I have been regularly attending Bais Chana classes online for several months. The weekly Tanya classes, parsha classes, and Chasidus classes are all outstanding. The women who teach these classes are wise, supportive, and so knowledgeable. They are so kind in their responses to questions. In addition, there are "special" series, such as one for Passover, another for the high holidays, that are also of very high quaiity- again with outstanding, kind, knowledgeable teachers. They are also very organized, sending email reminders with links so promptly and consistently. Although I have not taken advantage of them, they also have in person "retreats". I am so glad I "found" these classes from a recommendation of a friend. If you are able to attend any of their classes you will certainly benefit from them.
WellLife Network paitaints are understaffed with the help money wise and housing.
I Steve m Santana care about the treatment they give me and it has been extremely expensive and excellent.
They nurse me feed me and holidays we eat and laugh.
No drinks fun and mind game like trillagie. Rochelle Sherman Renee Tucker take good care of me the reason I say paitaints aren't getting housing around the miss like the way they treat them is writing reviews they write bad things about the WellLife Network maybe in Manhattan or Queens the reviews come from here in the Bronx the WellLife Network paitaints coup we understand the way life is going medication first they we could worry about something else. My doctors say am doing good. Joy how could I for get and Tyler the office operator.
Bais Chana has left its mark on me in ways I’ll never forget. Coming from a childhood with virtually no Jewish community, it was inspiring to walk away the ability to find Jewish communities ANYWHERE in the world (along with ~150 new lady friends as well).
Bais Chana is an incredible organization that empowers Jewish women to access our beautiful heritage. Offering Jewish learning retreats and year long opportunities to continue learning Torah and making monumental shifts in mitzvah observance.

I went on the Bais Chana UnCamp programme and had an unforgettable summer! Bais Chana helped me to discover who I am, while I made friends and memories to last a lifetime.
I went on a women's retreat and it was an amazing experience in so many ways. The whole atmosphere made me feel at home. Women came together from all over the country and we bonded while going on hikes, sharing meals and listening to the wonderful speakers. I didn't want it to end. I made some lifelong friends and I can't wait to go on a future retreat. No matter what your background is you will surely feel connected.
I loved bais chana's uncamp this summer! it was an unforgettable experience and im so glad to have gotten the opportunity to go!
I attended Bais Chana women’s summer retreat in Minnesota for the first of many times 31 years ago.
Transformative would be an understatement.
It was refreshing and healing to my soul to hears focused lectures with experts. Gathering and meeting other women to create sisterhood to encourage and support each other has eternal consequences.
Thank you for the work you do. See you at the next one
Wonderful! I attended Uncamp, the program for teenagers, and it was a beautiful environment! It was truly a warm and welcoming place for girls to explore and learn more about their Judaism. Would highly recommend!
Bais Chana has changed my life and that of my family! What a wonderful, accepting group of Jewish women from all backgrounds! The online zoom classes and Shabbaton retreats are plentiful. I have learned so much. I am so grateful that I took a chance and allowed these people to embrace me.
This group helped me connect to my truest self, ultimately allowing me to gain loads of self confidence and thrive in the real adult world. I continue to be inspired by little bits of interaction with Bais Chana.
I made my best friend at snorkel and study and still jump on learning programs.
I met the young women of Bais Chana during a spiritual retreat in the mountains of Utah in the summer of 2022. It was one of the most transformational and uplifting experiences of my life. I’ve met lifelong friends that have been to my wedding and hopefully many more simchas. May Hashem grant this great organization the merit to continue doing heir great work.
Bais Chana is the most supportive, empowering and life changing organization that any young Jewish female should be involved in. There is not enough words to describe the immense positive impact this organization has had on my life. It is one of those organizations where one can say all the right words to describe it but in order to truly understand its purpose and impact, you must experience Bais Chana to feel it. After Bais Chana Snorkel and Study, Sun and Study and online classes, I feel clarity and peace within myself and the world around me. The friendships I’ve made will last a lifetime and because of Bais Chana I have gained spiritual purpose within myself. I’m forever grateful!!
Bais Chana is life changing. My friends, sister and I have greatly benefited from fully or partially subsidized learning retreats offered by Bais Chana. The retreats helped me realize who I am and the values that guide me throughout my life to this day. Thank you so much!
Always warm and caring staff! This is the place for Jewish women looking to explore and connect with their heritage!
Love the classes and programs offered here!
Incredible organization! Truly inspirational and warm place that cares about each and every woman that comes through.
The Bais Chana organization changed my life, and brought me meaning and purpose. I would highly recommend going to a Bais Chana program for any and all Jewish women.
Amazing experience! If you can only go once, go! I have been twice and planning to go back soon.
Amazing classes, beautiful settings, delicious Kosher food, etc
The teacher and Rabbi Friedman are amazing!
Take a moment and sign up
Wow where to begin, Bais Chana has totally impacted and inspired my life in such a valuable and beautiful way. I didn’t know what to expect before the trip they took me on but afterwards I was truly grateful for the experience. They taught me things I will keep with me forever and the connections I made with the women on the trip were so special. Thank you to Bais Chana and everyone involved. I hope they continue to inspire women all over the world!
I attended Bais Chana with specific intentions to learn about hand washing. Not only were my intentions met, but the program went above and beyond in elevating my soul, and Torah knowledge. I am looking forward to attending another program sometime in the future.
I was first told about Bais Chana's Snorkel and Study by a friend. I went not expecting much, and to my surprise, it literally changed my life. By attending the program, I was able to experience new things, learn a variety of Jewish topics, and make new connections and lifelong friendships. Going to Snorkel and Study provided me with the opportunity to gain a new perspective on my Jewishness as well as in life, something that I had desperately been searching for for so long. So much more so that when the opportunity arose to attend Bais Chana's Women's Retreat, I jumped at the possibility of gaining even more. Similarly to Snorkel and Study, the Women's Retreat offered Torah discussions to prayer sessions, every activity was meticulously curated to provide a holistic spiritual experience. The scholars and rabbis leading the discussions were not only knowledgeable but also approachable, fostering an environment where questions were not just welcomed but encouraged.
Life-changing. I'm a student at Georgia Tech and I probably would not have survived school without Chabad and Bais Chana (the women's branch of Chabad). I go to every class on campus and have become bal tshuva (religious). I have became such a happy person and have strong values and am so grateful for the amazing opportunities they offered. I did the Bais Chana snorkle and study trip and am going to pegisha for the second time tonight. Amazing community! Love so so much!
I joined for a virtual retreat and there was such a great atmosphere! Everyone was chatting like long lost friends, the information was presented wonderfully! I've heard great things about their other programs as well!
My life has been changed forever more because of Bais Chana. In just a few short days I remembered who I was as a Jewish women and it slingshotted me straight to Israel and on the rest of my learning journey. I am so grateful to Rabbi Manis Friedman and all the staff/support for continuing to grow this organization; a space where any Jewish woman, of any age, can remember her part in G-d's world.
Bais Chana is a rare gem for women seeking to learn and grow in their Yiddeshkeit, irrespective of their age, background and observance level. It is a safe and non judgement space for Jewish learning, connection, inspiration and life long friendships. With amazing teachers and staff, they offer weekly classes, retreats, WhatsApp groups, and so much more.
It is a sisterhood and a community.
We learn, laugh and sometimes cry together. Finding this special organization changed my life and lives of so many incredible women I met.
Bais Chana outreach programs for younger women are often life lines for those who yearn to connect with their Jewish essence, in the midst of fractured, unstable social environments out there. These experiences often inform most important life decisions for these women, through a combination of learning, immersive experience, lots of nurture and support.
This organization does true avodat kodesh for so many Jewish women worldwide, impacting not only these women, but their families and communities. Yishar Koach!!!
What I appreciated most about JR4O non profit is their focus on building positive relationships with the youth they serve. They take the time to get to know each young person individually and provide them with the individualized support they need to succeed. I also appreciated their emphasis on education and career development, as these are crucial components to helping at-risk youth become self-sufficient and successful in the long-term.
Bais Chana is not just a place for learning Torah, but an organization with amazing staff and teachers. A non-judgmental place to learn, ask questions, spiritually grow and be a part of a sisterhood. Bais chana is a nonprofit that directly impacts lives!
Bias Chana is such a help to women and their families. The women's retreats are so destressing yet I found I learned so much and met wonderful woman of different ages and interests. The experience is one that stays with you. In a positive way.
When you join this group, you find your tribe. The warmth and the learning is life changing. I have so much gratitude for Bais Chana!
Bais Chana has changed how I look at life. I am a 69 yr old uneducated (in Yiddish kite) Jewish woman. I've been trying to learn by going to my local synagogue but it's not as in depth as I needed to understand and put action to the teaching of the Torah. I've been taking the online classes for about a year and they are the most fascinating and friendly surprisingly easy way to learn, comprehend, ask questions without judgement and feel a sense of community. In addition the retreats bring it all home with in person learning that is absolutely superb. My life is better in every area. Thank you Bais Chana!
Bais Chana has been a part of my life for the past 37 years. My first Bais Chana experience was the summer of 1985. I attended as a "madricha", a peer teacher, but very soon realized that I was learning as much if not more from my peers as they were from me. Rabbi Freidman's Chassiduc Philosophy classes were deep, yet so "practical". Through the years, I have participated in BC learning, either in person or by listening to Rabbi Friedman's recordings and more recently videos . My daughter attended a Bais Chana summer program. She said it was the first time she truly understood the whys of Judaism. And, most recently, a dear friend attended the BC single moms retreat. Although she was a bit anxious to go, she said it was one of her most positive Jewish experiences....
Bais Chana is so very dear to me and I am fortunate to be a part of the BC family.
This is the most supportive and amazing group of women! And the teachings are top notch. Imagine a place where you can grow as much as you like without judgement and make lifelong friends. That’s Beis Chana!
A wonderful way to connect with women around the world and especially Jewish women who want to both learn Torah and how to meaningfully practice Judaism.
Wonderful, knowledgeable, inspiring, and caring teachers who give instruction on chassidus thoughts and practice. Truly uplifting for everyone.
This organization is amazing! They offer so much connection and learning for Jewish women. All the women are so welcoming and kind. I am so thankful this community offers virtual connection as I am a mom with young children. Bais Chana has truly enriched my life.
Bais Chana literally turned my life around and has been there over the years supporting women and girls to make meaningful changes in their lives and to become highly educated and informed spiritual leaders in their respective communities.
16 years ago i had the opportunity of participating on a 5 days retreat that changed my life, gave me purpose and direction. The experience was so powerful that i kept coming back. I participated with my husband in a retreat for couples, went with Bais Chana twice to Israel and each retreat enriched my life in such a way that i thought many other women should have the same experience.
I have benefited in so many ways from the classes offered and the videos. The retreats are amazing and truly life changing. I connect with Rabbi Manis Freidman's talks on video frequently. The staff is supportive and inspiring. I am so grateful a friend introduced me to a retreat on the Jersey shore in 2013.
It was G-dly Intervention that on a Sunday morning just before Thanksgiving of 2021, that an email from Hinda Leah Scharfstein from Bais Chana appeared on my cell phone while riding in our car exploring our new neighborhood. Having just moved to South Florida, socially isolated for over a year due to the COVID pandemic and feeling the loneliness of being a newcomer to an unfamiliar area, I decided to inquire about this organization that just mysteriously appeared in my inbox. Since I was unaffiliated with any Jewish women's organization, I curiously reached out and connected with Itty Kay while teaching her Sunday (Tanya) Zoom class. I was so pleasantly surprised by the welcoming she and the participants were, especially since I disrupted them in the middle of her class. After introducing myself and explaining my recent journey, I was enveloped with warmth, compassion and connection to the style of teaching that Itty is a master at. It is almost a year that I have been a loyal and regular participant in both Sunday Chassidus and Tanya classes, other presentations and Responsive Heart Cohort 1. It has enabled me to grow spiritually, emotionally and socially. Both Itty and Hinda Leah are genuinely supportive, generous with their time and bring a level of comfort that is just amazing. The Torah and Tanya education that I have received in this short period of time surpasses all of my 12 years of yeshiva learning. Being a senior, I was taught in a very old-fashioned, traditional, European style of "metournished (not allowed)" and to never question but just accept what is taught. It is so refreshing that these classes welcome all questions and respond with answers that are inspirational and mentally palpable to even those who have challenging issues of trusting Hashem and some of His ways. For any female seeking a safe, reassuring, compassionate environment to learn about their Jewish identity and how Torah values are a blueprint for living a joyful life, I would highly recommend Bais Chana. It has been a miracle and a blessing for me as I marvel at my own transformation in less than 1 year. Thank you for all your caring and kindness. I still remember Itty's first words, "You came to the right place" on that "bersheret/destined" day. And, she was 100% correct.
It. Is a wonderful experience for women at any age that want to grow in their Judaism with the benefit of the chassidic view about personal growing
I've been involved with this wonderful organization since its inception. I personally have grown a great deal through the programs and staff members, and I've watched as many, many other women have grown in amazing ways over the years as well. One couldn't ask for a better nonprofit than this one!
Truly a life changing experience!!!
Positive,meaningful, genuine, uplifting,fun,.and warm environment!!
Learnt so much from this experience which I'll treasure my entire life! I know I'm not the only one who feels this way;)
Thank you Bais Chana!!
As a non Jew studying the Torah and wanting to know everything I can about Jewish life, the High holidays, customs, coming from a ‘blank slate’ .. I have felt welcomed, non judged, and genuinely befriended by Bais Chana Women International. They have opened their teachings meeting me, where I am, But most impressive of all is that they ‘walking the talk’ that they teach and with passion. Every lesson is explained clearly, any question asked is answered, and respect toward each individual is evident. This group goes above and beyond to include anyone wanting to learn. I am truly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful group of knowledgable compassionate women.
Bais chana serves as a space for so many that are seeking direction, guidance and a support system. Be it teens, single moms, college students.. I’ve witnessed as women of all ages grow and harness who they are inside to live a more complete, meaningful life. Bais chana is a nonprofit that directly impacts lives!
I went to Bais Chana as a camper for 4 years. The lessons I learned there and the friendships I made have carried me through into adulthood. I am blessed to have had the opportunity to go and grow there!
Shalom שלום
I attended Bais Chana multiple times, and hopefully again in the future.
The lecturers, teachers, and Principal Rabbi Manis Friedman were available for personalized (1-on-1) Q&A - in addition to: a variety of classes, meeting wonderful women from all around the world, and being in a supportive and intellectual environment.
Thank you to the Bais Chana Team & Rabbi Manis Friedman.
Samantha (Philadelphia - Tel Aviv)
Studying with Bais Chana stimulates and enriches my life in the best ways. It's deep, never superficial. Moreover the community of caring teachers and students is a treasure.
Bais Chana is the most amazing non-profit organization. The people are full of love, kindness, intellect, grace, and they know how to run an organization!
I would not be exaggerating to say my time at Bais Chana Women's program impacted me more than any other experience in my life! From the knowledgeable teachers, staff, and administrators, to the warmth and welcoming feeling I received from fellow participants, nothing else compares! I often find myself reflecting on classes I attended, people I met , and experiences I had the privilege to enjoy. When my own children became of age to attend the programs, they benefitted as well. Definitely, a one of kind learning and growth experience that can’t be replicated. Fondly, Devorah Dahan
The best learning place for Jewish women and girls to elevate neshame and come closer the HaShem. The variety of programs and the quality of teaching is above all possible expectations.
Thank you, Hinda Leah Sharfstein for your incredible work that makes Bais Chana flourish and engage women from all parts of the world.
Yosher Koach!

Bais Chana Women International Inc helped me to get back, to restore my Jewish identity.
I was born and raised in former Soviet Union (Ukraine) where being a Jew meant being bad, second rate citizen, greedy and not loyal. The antisemitism was embedded in all aspects of people life. I just new how bad is to be a Jew - not only from the Holocaust history that affected not only my family, but each Jewish family in Eastern Europe but also in the every day of so called "normal life". I had a famous line #5 in the passport with the "Jew" identification without knowing anything about Jewish more than 2000 years history and Judaism. Bais Chana opened was and is my eyes opener. They accepted me without any judgement and prejudice, with love and opened heart. I participate in many educational classes and events and the feeling of the belonging came to me. I am a proud Jewish woman and part of the big loving family. I am learning from best educators, thanks to wonderful Hinda Leah, who is leading the organization, and also made friends. First time in my life I don't feel alone.
Thank you, Hinda Leah and all Bais Chana educators and students!
One of my goals when I retired was to take courses through Chabad. Then COVID-19 appeared and no more in person courses. Bais Chana came into my life through zoom and YouTube offering courses. It was and still is fabulous. Thank you, Bais Chana.

It's exciting to think that it's been 3 years now that I've been a part of the Bais Chana community.
Everyone is so kind, loving, and it really feels like family to me. They are also very knowledgeable yet approachable :)
The Torah learning has been fantastic and I've learned so much about Judaism, Jews, and about being a Noahide.
I'm always very happy to share all the good things I learn from Bais Chana with family, friends, and anyone who asks.
It's intimate, supportive, and full of love and caring. Bais Chana Women International is home virtually
The classes at Bais Chana played a critical role in recovering from a bitter contentious divorce, helping me realize my value and goodness. Can't imagine my life without their warmth and support!
This organization has done so much for the Jewish community. Life-changing and inspiring classes, friendships and connections are just a few of the positive ways they have impacted me and so many others!
Introduced to Bais Chana this past year and have learned alot about Judaism and Chassidus from a very knowledgeable and warm welcoming staff and members . Watch the weekly parshah and Tanya classes and other holiday themed classes. Always packed full with information!!! Has been a challenging but truthful experience. Highly recommend!!
I attended Bais Chana back in 1987 in the early part of my journey. I stayed a month. In the winter. Learning Torah day and night and learnt that yes, a woman could go sledding in a skirt ( with leggings of course) Learning and connecting with my Jewish soul. Developing what Rabbi P called Manis fever. I went back to Boston quoting him. After a month in Minnesota I wanted to learn full time and went to Tzfat to Machon Alte that summer. And now we live in the holy city of Tzfat!
I went to Bais Chana UnCamp in the summer of 2014 and to say it impacted me is an understatement. It gave me the courage and confidence to follow my path of Jewish orthodoxy that I was looking for with pride, enthusiasm and a sense of purpose. I went into eleventh grade knowing I’m here for something greater and the summer at Bais Chana made me so comfortable in my Judaism that peer pressure wasn’t an issue anymore… I had the grounded, quiet confidence to go my own way regardless of what my peers were doing.
Bais Chanas counselors were not only friends that I made, they were role models. The personal growth that is enabled by a non-judgmental, supportive and genuinely caring environment is astounding and I am thankful to have been a part of Bais Chana’s UnCamp.
Hinda Leah and the entire Bais Chana Team are doing wonderful work and I hope Bais Chana will have many more opportunities to add more light and meaning into peoples lives.
Bais Chana has been a positive and inspiring part of my life since 1979 (yup, that's true!!) They were much smaller back then, but they got me on my feet (spiritually) and have always been there in a moment/hour/ year of need! So amazed to see how they've grown, and how they're doing such an amazing job at inspiring Jewish women of all ages and all stages!

Bais Chana Women's International has been a steady stream of light for me, particularly during the "darK" times of this seemingly endless corona pandemic. I had certainly been acquainted with their amazing work for years, but for the past year and a half...WOW! So many online opportunities for learning, inspiration, and bonding with fellow like-minded Jewish women. They are seemingly tireless.....adding more classes and programs all the time! Check it out, really!! If they have changed my life for the better, and continue to do so....what are YOU waiting for?!?!?
The most loving, supportive, educational, uplifting, inspiring, energizing gatherings, lessons, discussions I've ever experienced. Eternally grateful to the organizers, leaders, teachers, supporters and participants. May you be infinitely blessed and continue to be a blessing!
Although I have not been the best participant, I do pay attention to the upcoming classes and events. I have a sincere love for this organization and certain members. This is mainly due to the sincere kindness of the women who work & teach for Bais Chana. I know that if my life is disrupted or things come up, I am still welcome here. I was so struck by someone wanting to actually know me, that I kind of froze up. However, I do feel very comfortable and I have committed to attending more classes. I have decided to start truly joining in because I feel that I am accepted here. Bais Chana has given me the strength to try and reach my full potential. I feel like this organization has empowered me to become my true self again. Sometimes it is the smallest things which change our entire perspective.
Love Bais Chana's online classes and being part of an international community of like minded women, I learn so much and the classes are very accessible even if you don't have a lot of background in the topic.
I have been going to Torah classes for many
years and am so gratefulto have discovered
Bais Chana!! Their teachers are knowledge,
inspiring and they create a safe space for
women of all ages and backgrounds to ask
questions and learn together.
This Nonprofit org. is providing so much information and spiritual strength to many who are living alone or medically challenged. Certainly Beis Chana alleviate their loneliness and keep the mind busy with very interesting true stories and lectures. Thank you for the outstanding job and keep it up.
Bais Chana has always had a special place in my life---from my teenage years, being enlightened by Rabbi Friedman and Rabbi Feller over several Shabbatons, to my adult years, attending several events, including day events with inspirational speakers, or weekly Torah classes and other Shabbatons. These have been so influential in my decisions to understand and perform mitzvos and connect to Hashem in ways I may not have had an opportunity. Thank you Bais Chana!
Amazing program! Deep learning, intellectually stimulating, warm community feeling, soul sisters and new friends for life! Amazing food, comfortable accommodations and fantastic experience.
Thirty years ago I went for a week to Minnesota.
I stayed two weeks and left blue jeans that never fit well with a kid.
Changes of such magnitude at a cost which refined all my relationships except the one with myself.
Went back a few times and always gained great learning, wonderful environments of people in organically beautiful places and came back better.
I’ve sent people and I’ve met people who sent people.
The place grows and steps up to needs one doesn’t know they need.
Your labeling of such a place only means you haven’t gone yet!
I can’t wait to hopefully someday send my niece.
Impossibility?
I don’t think so after all I’ve seen Bais Chana accomplish.
FROM SHERRY SILK: I discovered Bais Chana almost a year ago, shortly after my mother died. I attended their Zoom conference, and was embraced by Hinda Leah, Itty, Fraidy, and the women who were also in attendance. Even though I was so tired and deeply grieving, I found the classes so stimulating, inspiring, and timely. After the conference, I began taking some of the classes they offer. I have found Rabbi Manis Friedman, Hinda Leah, and all the teachers at Bais Chana to be so devoted to G-d and to one another, accepting each of us as we are, and inspiring us to grow, grow closer to G-d, and fulfill our individual and collective purpose. When I have needed prayer, Bais Chana has risen up to pray and encourage me. While I now live physically alone, I am not alone ... Bais Chana is my family, made up of the most beautiful, caring, dedicated, and loving women.
My first retreat, in Utah, was a very enlightening experience.I appreciate Bais Chana’s efforts in providing an environment that is both educational and supports Jewish women and our culture.I was very pleased with the knowledge and kindness of Rabbi Manis Frieman and the entire stuff and I am very grateful to have been included in this special event
This amazing organization gave me back my life. You truly know how to create a solid excepting and strong values community.

Bais Chana retreats and online classes are an amazing and much needed resource for Jewish women of all ages and backgrounds. I have personally had great experiences at two retreats and stay connected with online classes. I’ve also made wonderful friends through Bais Chana that I would never had the chance to meet! Rabbi Friedman, Itty Kay and the amazing staff of teachers and leaders are superb—and the learning is incredible! K.S.
How can we survive or maybe flourish in this crazy world? G-d gave us life, but are we loosing the battle to remain spiritually alive? That's what I thought reading FB's plans to offer virtual spaces where people could "mingle," remotely and "get to know one another." (I am so old that I was an adult before "screens" stopped meaning movie theater. In those days, airplane passengers had actual conversations with strangers seated beside them.
Today? What Covid failed to accomplish in isolating us, may be completed by techno geniuses. Yet even the science tells us that devices are not a substitute for other people and there is an epidemic of loneliness.
Thousands of years of civilizations across the world instruct us that humans need each other to become more fully human, in their own cultural path. Some technologies we embrace or are forced upon us are subtracting from who we are and diminishing the nuance of human response to joystick options.
After years of practicing psychiatry, Bais Chana workshops and retreats exposed me to Torah teachings. Unlike Science, Torah teaches we have Souls. Unlike Social Media, Torah teaches our Body is not how we appear to others, but a garment for our Soul. On earth, our Soul is woven into our Body to grant us the choice to rise to the best of our thoughts and and actions. Only then can we elevate ourselves and others to lives worthy of this Creation. Making it to the moon is not a substitute for elevating our Souls.
I learned this at Bais Chana. At first these were words and concepts. Then they took root in me because I was taught and learned in a community of like-minded women who already lived them. True learning is one that shapes who we are while also teaching us to become our own sculptors. Our challenges are Biblical . How can we navigate this life and raise children in a world mostly purged of humanity and humility?
As a psychiatrist, it sickens me that we have purged what's spiritual from medicine and most other arenas where we live and our children play.
There is no "I" solution, here, but one that involves "We." I found that at Bais Chana.

I had an amazing experience on Sun And Study. Even though I come from an Orthodox background, I’m always looking for new ways to find inspiration. I met some of the sweetest, most open minded and growth oriented people I’ve ever met. I walked away from it feeling inspired and making life long connections.
The girls from our university who have attended the Bais Chana programs have ALL had positive experiences, empowering them in their journeys as Jewish women

The women at Bais Chana are incredibly knowledgeable and endlessly patient.
They serve Jewish women with joy, and a clarity of purpose that makes you comfortable wherever you are on your journey. It's immediately clear that they love what they do.
I attended a retreat, went away for a while and then came back. Now, I'm in the frame of mind to take advantage of the vast and rare opportunity they offer.
If you are a Jewish woman who longs to learn, I can't recommend them highly enough. They're the real deal.
Amazingly wonderful in every aspect. Organized, intellectual discussion, warm people, nice accommodations, great food, Rabbi Freidman is the super star.
Beis Channa is truly One- Of- A-Kind experience.
Bais Chana offered me the most nurturing environment to explore myself and life in a way I never have before. No other program I went on was this supportive and I really felt like I was able to discover my deeper identity and connect with life in a more meaningful way. The staff was Beyond Incredible and are there for you every step of the way- even after you leave!! They stay in touch with you as if you are family. They offered me life tools that I still implement today.
I only look back at Bais Chana Summer with the BEST memories and friendships. Even the food was really good!!
Though no words can truly explain the incredible Bais Chana vibe. Spiritual, Fun, Open, Deep, Heart warming…. All of that and rlly so much more.
Every woman needs to experience it for themselves. It’s truly a magical place to be that will open your heart, mind, soul and help you become more of what you want to be.
Bai's Chana is a fantastic organization that I've grown to really admire and care about. Their classes that I've taken have been very informative, the teachers and the other classmates are kind, friendly, extremely knowledgeable. Tysm
For the past 25 years (yes! It gets better and better) Bais-Chana is my go to spiritual/g-dly vacation :-) The experience is so fascinating that I get friends to come along and now -
B”H the second generation is following! If it happened that we missed a retreat, it’s simply unforgivable :-) we highly recommend! You’ll never regret! Keep climbing! MOSHIACH NOW!!!
Amazing amazing programs!!!! All classes are fantastic. Teachers are very easy to speak to and non judgemental. Def one of my favorite organizations
I participated of the Passover series this year with Freidy - it was a very enlightening and made this Passover more meaningful.
I live in a small community where Jewish educational resources are limited. Bais Chana has been instrumental in my continued learning and growing.
Bais Chana is an amazing place to connect to other women while learning about our amazing culture and history of Judaism. I have been a part of their online classes and in person retreats. It's an organization that's for everyone!
Having attended 15 Bais Chana Women's retreats in the past, flying long distance to attend, I can tell you first hand that this is the GREATEST organization for women out there! Each year I have seen how this organization has transformed lives of people from all walks of life, for the better! At least tens of thousands of women, as a result of this great organization, has gone on to lead very productive lives because of this great organization! To the people who run this great organization, great job & like so many thousands of others, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to you! P.S. Their retreats, besides being inspiring - are so much fun too! And the food they have provided has been so great too!
In August I went on the women’s retreat in Utah. To be honest I was mainly going to be in Utah but I figured I would go with an open mind once I was there.
I was skeptical about going on a “religious” retreat and wasn’t sure that I would fit in and that I would enjoy it.
Well, this retreat made a huge impact on me. The classes with Rabbi Friedman were eye opening. They gave me a brand new lens in which to look at Judaism and our religion.
The women who ran the program did a great job. The food was incredible. Love and good energy was put into every detail. The women in the retreat were very welcoming and made me feel comfortable.
I had an incredible time and would certainly go on another retreat or event that Beis Chana would create.
I am so grateful that I attended this retreat. It has forever changed my life.
They provided me an amazing experience as an undergraduate in FL and wonderful Zoom opportunities during the pandemic!
Bais Chana is that place where women of all ages and stages, from a myriad of backgrounds can go to find acceptance, love, support and emotional and cognitive nurture.
Through the classes, extra curricular activities, seminars, weekends and week long retreats, Bais Chanah has emerged as the leading oasis for women who are looking to change course and turn their lives around or just plan live more deeply and joyously.
The attention to every detail-- accommodations, food, faculty and recreational activities -- has enriched the lives of tens of thousands of participants and an unknown number of individuals who depend on these participants for their support and direction.
I went on a trip with to Israel with eight other women. Sponsored by Bais Chana Women International.
We traveled all over Israel and heard many interesting women speak about life in Israel and the spiritual nature of Judaism. I specifically remember visiting a couple who lived on property where the grew most of their food. They were so inspiring.
I was with women from all over the country with different backgrounds and experiences.
Very eye opening.
I am new to Bais Chana online but I recently joined the zoom class on Tanya with Itty Kay. I love the material, I love Itty’s patient, clear, straight talking approach, and I love listening to the comments from the other women in the group. And everyone is so open! You can just talk about G-d, or comment on how a lesson relates to your life, or share a personal struggle. It is all very refreshing.
Bais Chana is to every Jewish women a haven.
To me personally, a connection true and real with G-d and other like minded and not so like minded women of all walks that stimulates life and nurturing relationships. Worth mentioning is the absolute positive influence of Rabbi Manis Friedman and his team in my life that makes you feel welcome and part of a big healthy family.
Bais Chana is an oasis in a fast-paced, hectic world. Its nonjudgmental and warm atmosphere is unlike anywhere else and gives women and girls the space to be themselves and think.
The Bais Chana International Chabad organization provides Jewish women of all age groups with the education, guidance, and support sought after during these spiritually and morally challenged times. Bais Chana Int. offers retreats and online classes throughout the year, and the organization is renowned for its educators who connect with Jewish women on many levels of interests and Torah concepts through the lens of Chassidic philosophy — applying these teachings to everyday life experience. I have personally learned from these Chabad teachers through online lectures (www.chabad.org); they have made a profound influence on my own journey studying Judaism and Chabad thought. I am fortunate to have opportunity to contribute back; thereby, I am grateful to help support Bais Chana Women International in its cause. A special thank you to the executive director of Bais Chana Women International, Hinda Leah Sharfstein, for organizing this great endeavor of empowering Jewish women to fruition, and for always being there to answer my questions and concerns…or just simply to say hello and talk.
I am a homebound senior (soon to be 90). Since Covid I am most appreciative of the zoom classes of Bais Chana. I feel privileged to be a part of a sisterhood of such highly intelligent, educated and eloquent women from all over the world. Thank you Bais Chana for all you do!
I have known for many years that Torah is our guidebook for Life. Bais Chana illuminates the path of Torah and its many intricacies and deeper layers of meaning. Bais Chana has shown me while at some point we sought "self-actualization" that the most important things in life are learning Torah, doing Mitzvoth, and understanding how the mind rules over the emotions. Every Class is another journey through Torah and Tanya and thought provoking stories from Torah and Chassidus. The classes have a deeply mystical aspect although it is profoundly applicable to our everyday lives. I love the sense of community and friendship which bridges ages, backgrounds and distance, that is unique to Bais Chana. The two main leaders, Itty and Hinda Leah, are thoroughly devoted to providing the most qualified lessons as well as speakers for special topics.
This is a wonderful Organization for Jewish women! The teachers are great, the students are fascinating, and the materials are fantastic! It is a wonderful School for Jews of any age, background, and education level.
Bais Chana nourishes my soul! The content, the teachers, the depth the practical applications... first rate! I'm so grateful for Bais Chana and the brilliant women who teach, support and take these classes.
I participated in the Women's retreat in CT in 2011 and 2012 and the single jewish mothers in 2012.
I am now remarried and with four beautiful children and I believe I Beis Chana, (Rabbi Friedman and other speakers) really helped me achieve this great merit (with the help of HBH).
I recommend this program to whoever is looking for real healing, real growth, real judaism, real chassidus and real kabbalah.
Learned with the incredible educators of this program. Transformative, applicable to daily life, and beyond; extremelly competent, intellingent, and genuine people. I am very grateful to have benefinited from what Bais Chana provides and to continue to be a part of this program.
It makes me understand and remember why it is an honour to be a Jewish woman.
I have been happily traveling to learn at Bais Chana for many years; recently the zoom learning opportunities were brought to my attention and I am even more thrilled to enjoy these lessons in the comfort of my own home! I am loving it!
This Jewish organization offers Women of all ages a venue to learn about Judaism and to explore their spiritual selves. The classes that are offered are designed to create a non-judgemental, supportive community .
Bais Chana is one of the best life experiences i have ever had. It is a space where you can be real, learn about what matters, get honest answers, know you're never judged, and all while connecting to the coolest people.

When asked to describe my experiences with Bais Chana, it is always difficult for me articulate. I simply say, "It is a magical place."
The accepting, non judgmental environment facilitates new lifetime friendships. The classes with open forums allows one to take an honest look at life and choices, and create new possibilities. Authenticity, connection and introspection is experienced and transformation takes place.
Bais Chana International is a unique gift to Jewish women worldwide.
The best! I’ve benefited from R Manis Friedman’s knowledge greatly over the years

I was introduced to Bais Chana for the first time in Israel, and I thought the concept itself was fantastic! Just women, of all ages and different backgrounds learning and bonding together in a very relaxed and pleasant athmosphere. Rabbi Manis Friedman is one of the most special educators out there - he has a unique approach to Judaism and relates to each student on an individual level and that is not an easy task to fulfill. I've been involved with different organizations throughout the years and had very different experiences with Jewish educators - Bais Chana is by far on top of the list with the efficiency and depth of learning and really touching the lives of their students.
The best program out there so welcoming warm you feel apart of the bais chana family right away no matter your background:))
I’ve attended several Bais Chana programs and can say very honestly: Bais Chana is a family. The vision and inspiration of director Hinda Leah fuels the organization, from the carefully curated program schedules to the all-star locations to the diverse and fantastic staff.
Women from every corner of the globe, with life experiences of all types, have come to Bais Chana and exhaled — “I’m accepted here. I belong here.”
Bais Chana is as authentic as it gets. The goal is very simple - real Jewish learning, real Jewish connections, real Jewish sisterhood.
Women who have never learned the Hebrew letter Aleph, and women who have studied deep Jewish texts for years, sit side by side and learn from one another. The teachers are so talented that they can simultaneously teach both sides of that spectrum, and everywhere in between. Every participant leaves class feeling like they just viewed that topic in a completely new light.
Questions and even challenging are welcomed and encouraged.
Also — the food and amenities are always top-notch. Lots of snacks and tea available throughout classes as well - some good nosh fuels good learning.
Bais chana is a beautiful organization with tons of awesome programs for Jewish women. I attended the UnCamp program for Jewish teen girls and it was amazing. They care so much about the growth of each camper and everyone connects to Judaism. 10000000/10 !!!!
Bais Chana is an amazing organization that helps Jewish women of all ages with learning and understanding of Judaism and Chaddisus. They really do guide and make this world a better place!
Itty Kaye is an amazing teacher. She has a broad range of knowledge that she is able give over to women of all ages and levels of experience, from the novice to advanced. She welcomes and relates to girls and women, no matter their background because, speaking for myself, we each come from unique and varied backgrounds, united by our Jewishness and our souls thirst for knowledge and connectedness.
Inspiring. Bais Chana gives me and my new sisters tools to feel uplifted and ready to be a part of Tikun Olam. We learn about our purpose in life and how our good actions help others to make this world a dwelling place for G-d
Bais Chana is a beautiful community of Jewish women and scholars. I have come away from retreats with inspiration, friendship, and a deeper connection to my judaism.
Their unique programming for both single moms and anti-ageist measures helping women ages 55+ is innovative and designed to assist these too-often-ignored populations
I had a truly wonderful and meaningful experience at Bais Chana. Director Hinda Leah Scharfstein went out of her way to insure I was able to attend. She and Rabbi Friedman, Itty Kay, Freidy Yanover and the other teachers are magnificent. I met phenomenal women and made at least one good friend. I would highly recommend this experience. I believe it is life changing, and maybe even lifesaving
I have had the privilege of doing two programs with Bais Chana, and absolutely loved both of them!! Bais Chana has so many scholarships available for its participants, which makes it easy to attend. Bais Chana has provided me so many wonderful lessons.
Bais Chana changed my life! I learned so much at Snorkel and Study, and came back 2 years later as a madricha. This year I plan to go back again as a madricha, and I now also have the zchus of doing other work for Bais Chana. I’m also in touch with so many girls whose lives have been changed and enriched in so many ways by their experience at Bais Chana!
It has helped me so much. I had gone through so many different types of group, big and small. None have ever worked as well as bias chana. Everyone who goes wants to be there, wants to learn. Everyone works together as a whole or in sub groups. By either danceing, singing, learning, contemplating, expressing, or even screaming. It didn't matter we all connect to hashem in our own way. we are all worthy to be loved, appreciated and praised. So if you like reading, sports, art and poetry,or more phylisofical questions, and really crazy dares. Come from a strict or laid back family. With a dull life or one full of tales good or bad. Anxiety, trama, depression, behavior disorders, darkness, and pain. Be the most introverted or extroverted person ever. You can feel like your life is the worst and its crashing down on you with no hope. Calm down breath let Bais chana help you flout. you heart mind and soul will always find, have and keep a place here.
Bais Chana changed my life. I’ve been going to UNcamp for the past three summers and keep coming back because I just can’t get enough. When you come to UNcamp, you’re not just gaining some friends, connecting to your Jewish roots, and meeting some awesome mentors who will change your life. You’ll gain all that AND a whole new family. Bais Chana becomes your home
Bais Chana women's learning retreat is incredible. Loved it! Highly recommend to anyone who wants to learn and make friends. It was amazing just being able to learn and not worry about anything else. Everything was well organized. Thank you Bais Chana staff.
I had a wonderful experience in Beis Chana! It's a place where you learn, grow and love! It's a place of sharing, uniting and strengthening ourselves and others!
I was there last summer and was a great trip to learning about my relationship with G-d and how that impacts in other people. Best place to learn to be a passionate about life having a purpose for G-d.
Bais Chana,
I didn't know there could be such a place until I walked into it. Thank G-d.
A beautiful safe space that empowered me as I was inspired by the incredible women around me who spearhead this and individualize it for every soul. Enwrapped and humbled with the Torah to be proud as a Jewish Woman.
As a teenager trying to navigate in a confusing world, Bais Chana gives me so much confidence in who I am and what I do. There has not been one class I have walked out of unchanged. Every encounter, every class, every art session both changes me for the better and gives me so much joy and pride in who I already am. Everyone is so encouraging, loving, and giving. Everything Bais Chana does is solely for the women who attend the program. If I want to learn something, they will teach it. If I have a question, they will answer. Bais Chana is a safe space for any woman to express herself, to grow, to learn... and to be loved and encouraged through it all.
Bais chana is a magical place, a safe open minded enviroment and atmosphere where girls from all backgrounds merge into a family with one goal at the forefront: to grow and develop their relationship with G-D and simply have a blast together!
Through the incredible classes, girls open up their minds to a whole new perspective
and are able to express their deepest most riviting questions, which are patiently and sensitively answered, sometimes in just one short sentence and sometimes on a one on one personal discussion.
Theres great art classes, poetry workshops, nature trips, sports and activities all with opportunities for girls to bond together and develop talents and sometimes unexpressed gifts they possess.
Bais chana has transformed the life’s of so many in huge and significant ways building the futures of so many young ladies!
As a girl who went through a Chabad education system, I thought I knew everything about Judaism and Chassidus. Little did I know how much more there's to learn which isn't taught in schools- only in an environment like uncamp. After going to uncamp, I had so many new answers, new perspectives, and new values that I'm extremely grateful for. All I can say is thank you to Bais Chana for making this program that gave me a home away from home and connections that will last a lifetime!
This program has greatly widened my perspective on the world and made me what to dive deeper into judaism. I made such incredible friends and had experience some of the best times i have ever had. Everyone was welcomed to camp no matter your background or level of religiousness. We treated each other with respect and were open minded.
This organization provided me a whole new view myself as a young woman in the Jewish world. They give so much to all of the women who pass through and they mean a lot to so many.

I had been divorced and single-parenting for years. I was exhausted and worn down. Bais Chana gave me a scholarship to attend their event. I went and it was the nicest thing I have ever done for myself. I heard things I had never heard before from Rabbi Friedman. I met wonderful women who are still my friends, 4 years out. I love Bais Chana. They lifted me up, inspired me, befriended me and showed me that together we are all stronger. Baruch HaShem for such an amazing organization.

I participated in the summer camp and although it was fun and I made friends, I don’t feel like it changed me that much. I did learn new things but I was also expecting to come back home as a new and improved person as I had heard from others. This is a good program for those who are just beginning their Jewish journey or are looking for all the answers to their questions.

Absolute pleasure to be a part of their programs. They help so many young women, and empower the future generations to make an impact in the world.
Bais Chana is life changing. The learning and atmosphere expands your mind and heart in ways you didn't know were possible. I highly recommend attending any of their spectacular programs, I guarantee that you won't regret it.
Excellent program. Fills a need for companionship among women often isolated in the community. Interesting classes and resources.
As someone who has gone to many Bais chana retreats, I can personally attest to the fact that this organization changes the lives of every girl and woman who attends. The staff are incredible, caring, and knowledgeable people who take personal interest in each individual from before they walk through the doors until long after they leave, creating lifelong connections. Bais Chana is the best.
This organization helped me very much. The knowledge I gained from the classes, the teachers rabbis and mentors influenced me in a positive way and the friendships I made during my time at Bais Chana are life long bonds.
5 STARS for "Bais CHANA WI"
B"H, Last Year, I had the Opportunity to attend a "Retreat" .....
This year, it has not been possible to attend but once again thanks to a marvellous "Sunday Tanya Group" we have kept in contact....B"H may there be many more "Retreats" and classes....Thank you for great orginization skills and dedication....
Bais Chana and the people and program has totally changed my life. I have made new friends, and got a great "shot in the arm" in my Judaic practice and understanding. If there were 10 stars, I'd want to give 11!! The contribution to Judaic society that Bais Chana gives is worth more than can ever be conceived or understood.
The most memorable and life changing summer of my life. I will always be grateful that I had this experience.
If you're a Jewish woman, what are you waiting for?! I literally cannot recommend Bais Chana highly enough. No judgement, no dogma, no fluff, just the most important wisdom no woman should be living without.
The people I met at Bais Chana, the atmosphere, and the learning have changed and improved my life more than anything else... and I know I'm not the only one. Thank you.
Bais Chana was one of the best experiences of my life. It was a warm environment where girls and women of all ages were able to find something in common. After only a few days at bais Chana I felt as if I'd known the women there my whole life, and I still Lee in touch with many of them. Every one of the classes was incredible, and it was always a number one priority for me to get to all of them no matter how late I'd been up the night before.
I went to the Bais chana uncamp in Iowa this summer, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. It was an amazingly kind, nurturing environment, and the staff was absolutely wonderful. The classes and activities were inspiring and fun, and the relaxed atmosphere made everybody feel comfortable asking any questions. (Side point, the grounds were stunning)Thank-you, bais chana, for a great summer!
I have never gone to any retreates nor was I ever affiliated with lev Chana or any chabbad organizations. I am forever thankful and blessed I was able to join this lev Chana retreat in lakearrowhead it was the best thing I have done for myself in a long long time. I felt so empowered spending a weekend with strong, capable, beautiful single moms. Thank you to everyone involved who made this happen I can't thank you enough.
This retreat helped me to regroup and refocus my mind and energy on Hashem because He is the one who truly runs the world. I went two time and it was absolutely wonderful. The women that I met and bonded with are amazing!!! The atmosphere is relaxing. The food is superb!!! The rooms are glorious!!! The speakers are amazing and insightful. I would definitely recommend this experience to any single mom out there. May they continue to help anyone that needs.
The best non profit for women around. I went to Bais Chana for the first time last summer and it was the best decision I made. I walked in one person and left a week later totally transformed. The staff is incredible, the support and knowledge from everyone is unmeasurable. Whether you go to one of their many retreats they offer or you learn online remotely it all impacts the growth of Jewish women everywhere. Bais Chana does so much for so many women all around the world. Go Bais Chana!
The programming, participants, administrators and presenters were wonderful. Bais Chana is a transformative place and program!!!

Bais Chana is amazing. That means the people are exceptional, the teachers are profound, thought-provoking, and make themselves available for hours of personal time with anyone who wants one on one time with them. And the food is delicious and healthy!
It was a cliff hanger as to whetheror not I was going but with the right push - the staff is incredible, the experience was truly beautiful and I want to go back.
Bais Chana is less a "camp" than a warm and inspiring community for Jewish women of all ages and affiliations. The people at Bais Chana are so consistently kind and giving that one feels one has entered a different universe. Although some of the Chabad philosophy taught in the courses was difficult for me to swallow as a very modern Jew, on the whole, Bais Chana provided a uniquely positive experience, and I look forward to returning.
My sister and I signed up for this summer experience not knowing really anything about it. The morning we were scheduled to leave I was hysterical and in tears because I had no clue what to expect and didn't want to be spending my summer in the middle of no where with strangers. Regardless I flew to Minnesota and went on with camp. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very nice and welcoming girl. The driver, girl, my sister and I all drove to the Bais Chana headquarters where we were greeted by more girls who were all very welcoming. By the end of the day almost everyone had got to camp and we were all getting to know each other. By the second day we had all gotten to know each other better and by that time I was becoming more and more comfortable. Little did I know by the end of the summer i was looking at these girls as more then friends, but sisters. The 3 weeks were filled with learning and growing as Jewish women, friendships, trips, and memories that will last a lifetime. My time in Bais Chana really changed my views on life and how I was going to lead mine. By the end of the INDESCRIBABLE 3 weeks I was hysterical yet again to be leaving what I had initially been so scared to come to, and ended up being the best summer of my life. I can't thank the incredible staff enough for the incredible experience I had while with them. I can't wait to continue going to as many Bais Chana programs as possible from now on!!
i can honestly just say i don't have words for such an amazing and wonderful time i had. i met some unique long lasting great friends i will never forget, and learn many things about Judaism that i appreciate much more now!
I honestly did not know what I signed up for when I decided to go to the Bais Chana UnCamp. The 3 week program exceeded any exectations I could have possibly had. Not only did I have an amazing and fun time but I gained so much! The schedule is a perfect balance of learning and engaging activities. The classes are so insightful and make you think like you've never thought before! The activities are so fun and really bring closer to your camp mates. I left this camp with 30 new sisters and a notebook full of new things that I leaned. I would recommend this camp to ALL Jewish high school girls. You will not regret coming here. In fact you will probably return to camp for more than one year as many campers do. I would not change a single thing in the UnCamp program and look forward to attending many more Bais Chana programs!!
Really educational and uplifting. Gave me a better sense of what being a Jewish young women is.

Great Experience! I have gone to the the Bais Chana girl's camp, not once, but 2 times. It really helps people (esp. girls) to get to know what and who they are. They develop a bond with their faith, what it is, and how to express that. If your Jewish, you must look into this. It will recharge you in some way.
Beis Chana's Snorkel and Study program was a life changing experience for me. The classes were phenomenal, providing me a deeper and captivating look in to what's behind our Jewish traditions. Growing up in a conservative Jewish environment, I really appreciated the new perspective that the program gently illustrated. And of course, I made lasting friendships. I did Beis Chana at least three years ago and I just met up in Jerusalem with some friends from the program! Beis Chana attracts girls who really care. Good-hearted people, great classes, and of course, great food! I would recommend, and have recommended, Beis Chana to any and every Jewish woman regardless of their background.

Beis Chana blasted me into a whole new stage of life. For a week I got nothing but star treatment in a gorgeous resort. The many classes on almost every Jewish topic were super informative. Sometimes I came out with a brighter soul, other times I came out confused. But that was the beauty of Beis Chana. In the end, everyone came out a bigger and better person. I remember after a class on the soul I left feeling light as a feather and knew that I would continue my journey in to Judaism forever. I felt as if the Rabbi giving the lecture had picked that class just for me because he knew of my struggles right at that moment in life. I also made friends who I still talk to today, over a year and a half afterwards. I'm from Seattle and I just got back this weekend from my counselor's wedding in New York! Of course it takes a lot of work to remain friends, but it was so easy to make friends on the program because of the friendly and open environment on the program. All of the girls (and I mean all) were friends on that trip. I remember after a long day of classes and snorkeling, me and a bunch of girls stayed up at night on the roof of our condo, looking at the stars and reflecting on our week so far. Some of the girls I hadn't even met before then, yet we were discussing Judaism as if we'd been friends our whole lives. No guards were up, just real talk. All in all Beis Chana's Snorkel and Study was a week of meeting cool new people, snorkeling, and pure adventure into the soul.
I had an incredible experience with Bais Chana. The teachers were knowledgeable and caring, and even when dealing with difficult life issues, were really there for me.
I had a very good experience with this organization. They were very professional and personable and available anytime I had any questions or needed any assistance. I would recommend it to every women interested!
Bais Chana is an unbelievable organization. It allows Jewish women from all over the world to come together for a common cause, explore their personal lives, and learn about our heritage, culture, past, and present. By examining Judaism in depth with world renowned leaders. I was able to explore my personal life with the help of multiple counselors and leaders. They allowed me to be very open, think about all the positives, and ways to change what I wanted to. I have never felt more at home.
One week at Bais Chana was a positive, beautiful, full of inspiration, fun, joyful, life changing experience. It's a week of knowledge that makes you wish you could never leave, this one week trip can not be found anywhere else.
Bais Chana changed my relationship to Torah and my identity as a Jewish woman forever. The teachers, staff, people and place are all 5 stars. All together it is so beyond any kind of star system.
Bais Chana is an incredible organization. Everything about it is centered around helping women and girls feel empowered in all aspects of their lives. It is a warm and caring environment where everyone truly feels like part of a hugely diverse and unique family.
Bais Chana is an amazing place where you can learn and find out anything you ever wanted to find out and gives you the tools to view and live life in its full potential!!
Going to Bais Chana was an amazing experience for me, I had the opportunity to learn more about judaism among a group of very talented people and after I left I felt I had a new kind of energy within my self.
The women I met were always willing to have interesting and challenging conversations, their spirit is nothing like I have ever seen before and I would love to have the chance to go back again to this beautiful place.
Amazing. I had a great experience and learned an incredible amount. Every second was thoroughly planned and used in the best possible way. Not one second went by wasted. There were amazing controversial lectures by talented and brilliant speakers. I was engaged and learned an infinite amount of wisdom that can be applied in every day life.
My week with Bais Chana was fun, positive, friendly, supportive, educational and very memorable. It was great to get some good quality girl time!
Bais Chana is a warm place to come.... when you want to learn, grow, be inspired...and eat well:) With many types of women from many different places, everyone is encouraged on their own journey. In the year that I worked at Bais Chana, I got to see many women and teens make changes and gather the strength to implement those changes back home. Relationships for a lifetime, inspiration for a lifetime, Changes of a lifetime.
Learning in Bais Chana was a wholesome experience for me. It was everything together, the beautiful physical location, deep thought provoking lectures, great food, and meaningful discussions that made it a wonderful place to be.
Discussions and lectures ranged all topics from morality and the purpose of life to mortal man and the finality of death.
I feel like the Bais Chana experience allowed me to walk away a more thoughtful mindful and possibly moral human being.
With the possibility of running on a much larger scale Bais Chana's positive impact can reach that much further and enrich many more.
Bais Chana, specially, the snorkel and study program was one week filled with inspiration, life and beauty. Although it was just one week, it was through this short time which enabled me to not only dive into the sea, but dive into the heart of life, which is Torah.
In an ever changing world, remaining grounded and directed and true to your values and morals is often difficult. Caught between what society dictates and what our values erg us to be, finding peace is often difficult. The world demands so much, who are we, where are we going ? where do we come from , Where do we begin. Our life is a Journey and we are constantly seeking growth. Having been involved with Bais Chana as both a student and a volunteer I personally have been touched by their love and devotion to each individual no matter what their circumstance is in life. Bais Chana, stands strong in encouraging women to be empowered by the values of our Jewish Heritage. Through learning about modesty, the role of a Jewish women , one becomes empowered by the beauty in the responsibility of being a women.
No matter how long you are there for , Bais Chana provides structure and core values in dealing with life's challenges, helping women stay strong and true to their Jewish Values, empowering Jewish Women to build strong and ever lasting connections to Judaism, that inform our every day lives.
For me , there programs were life altering. It gave me the tools to navigate my way through life as a Jewish Women, staying strong to me heritage and my values.
This past summer was my first year as a volunteer at Bais Chana! It has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had! Bais Chana is a warm place with total acceptance! Every person there was so kind, friendly and warm. The learning there was exceptional! Ask any questions and get ready to be blown away! We all walked away inspired, rejuvenated and ready to start the year!
Hinda Leah Scharfstein, the program's director is very caring and makes sure the program is top notch and everyone's need are well taken care of. Rabbi Manis Friedman, the main teacher, is fascinating. His knowledge of the Torah and his delivery is exceptional!
Bais Chana is a place that every person should experience!
Bais Chana is the kind of place we all call home. On my first trip, I was greeted by a group of women and girls of all ages, sizes, and colors sitting around like family. What was most notable about the group was its diversity and acceptance to people of all kinds. We were all there with a common goal: to learn, to understand, to change, to live. Bais Chana was the perfect place for that to happen.
Hinda Leah Sharfstein, the executive and administrator of Bais Chana, as well as the rest of the staff, are fully aware of the importance of one's spiritual health and learning Torah. Hinda Leah does all in her power to ensure that anyone who is remotely interested or open to learning can be a part of the program, regardless of financial woes or what not. She lives as a service to others in need and devotes everything she has to the success of the program. As the voice of the organization, it is her that one can look towards to define what Bais Chana is: a humble place that helps a proud amount of people.
Rabbi Manis Friedman, the heart of the program, teaches in a unique and special way. His unusual wisdom and immense knowledge make the classes stimulating, interesting, and a challenge too. From him, we learn what a Jew is, how to love God, and what it means to have a soul. He also devotes many hours to individually helping his students with his extensive experience as a Rabbi helping people and with his knowledge of homeopathy.
Bais Chana is a program like no other. It offers help, guidance, and love, to women from all walks of life. When we leave Bais Chana, we leave changed. We leave as renewed individuals. We leave with a deeper understanding in life. We leave living. We know what we are doing here, and we know why.
Wow I was amazed at all the learning that took place when I went to a Bais Chana. They helped me so much and I came home and helped my community out after because I was so felled with good infromation and knowlegde of little and big things I could do.
thank you Basi Chana
I currently work with College aged students and have had wonderful experiences sending them to Bais Chana. They return, empowered, excited and stronger in their identity and sense of self. The facilities and accommodation are top notch, the staff is warm and caring.
B"H
I really loved Snorkel and Study. It was life altering and all together a positive and challenging experience. I recommend it to anyone who is looking to learn what it means to be a Jewish woman in her twenties.
I went to a Bais Chana program called Snorkel and Study. It really impacted me tremendously and motivated me to eventually study in Israel for several months at a seminary.
Bais Chana was a great program that gave me the space to learn more about my religion and about myself through their Winter Break Workshop. The teachers were some of the best in the world, and they provided a setting for us to get personal help and advice that made us stronger, wiser, and more informed citizens of the world and ourselves.
Bais Chana is a warm home that women from all walks of life can come to to get the spiritual and emotional nurturing they need to face the challenges of the world.
I was introduced to Bais Chana through the Rabbitson at my shul and took a chance and went only a few short weeks after finding out about it. Bais Chana has changed my life in many ways. It's elevated my learning and grounded my existence.
They offer exceedingly well rounded educations within Judaism to women who may have not had that type of opportunity otherwise. The staff is passion and compassionate. The women they attract are hungry for learning and kind.
This is an amazing organization.
I heard of Bais Chana many years ago and that they organise seminars gathering women from around the globe, from all walks of life and reach out to each and everyone to get reinforced in their religion, learn Torah and reach to new levels of spirituality for all ages! I became exited and absolutely wanted to attend a seminar! A person helped me to connect with Bais Chana and they helped me to go. The seminar is everything that it's reputation says about it and so much more! Since my first seminar 4 years ago i have kept most of the solid friendships made, i got to travel and Tour Israel with Bais Chana and i got to stay and additional 6 month to learn Torah in Israel with referals from Bais Chana.
You should know that when all this started, i was 33 years old, from a completely secular traditional family, i went to a convent high school, being the only jew there, then went to secular college and University, had a glamourous life working on film sets, working as a fashion photographer and having many famous friends from Hollywood. My older brother and sister intermarried assimilated and later at 30 i nearly lost my life from a sever head injury.
So when i went to Bais Chana, i started to let go of my entire past and was ready to rebuild my jewish life which i knew absolutely nothing of. I had a new whole new world to gain. Within a year i learned how to live a spiritual life according to Torah, visited Israel from a full Torah perspective and kevers of Tsadikim. Most of all Bais Chana took our group to Hevron at Maharat Hamachpela and othet sites which has also dramaticaly changed my life. The book of Torah was no longer a book of tales and legends.. Here we were by the caver of Avraham, Isaak, Yaacov aveinou, Sarah, Leah, Rivka imenou, and of Adam Arishon and Chava. No need to be convinced, there is somthing about the land of Hevron which cannot be explained. We must just go with the right people to learn and understand and sense the truth of the Torah. Once in Hevron, one can no longer deny its existence, its absolute truth! From this trip with Bais Chana, i became completely tsniout, shomer negya, and finally got married within the year in Israel! I now live a spiritual life of Torah and mitsvot, have a beautiful baby and am so Thankful , Grateful for Bais Chana to have been such incredible shluchim of Hashem to have paved the way along for me to live a full life! May they continue to do the work they do and get sponsorship to help more people who were so lost as i was. They have educated me and it has saved my life and Barouch Hashem now also brought new Jewish life (our baby)!
Thank You Bais Chana. There are no words i can say that can come to the level of the limitless life you have tought me to live!
AMAZING organization dedicated to embracing our lives as productive women who can and will make a difference in whatever we do.
I participated in the Snorkel and Study program run by Bais Chana in January, 2010. The most memorable aspect of the program was its knowledgeable and enthusiastic teachers. The topics were interesting and relevant. Some classes expanded my academic knowledge of my religion, while others helped me contemplate lifestyle choices. I met fellow participants who were also exploring their Judaism, and together we discussed the topics we had been learning about in class. All of the staff at Snorkel and Study were helpful, gracious, and clearly dedicated to making the program as positive an experience as possible.
Bais Chana was an unbelievable experience that taught me how important it is to have a strong jewish foundation and was a candid forum for me to interact with my peers and see their view and relationship with religion
the classroom experiences were amazing, I learned so much and was able to ask an question to the guest speakers and introduced to new concepts, but the most important part of my learning came from the down time I had with my peers and the counselors for the trip.
I learned so much from my counselors and peers. We would stay up late every night and talk about different jewish customs and laws and how others viewed their importance and it was a forum to air grievances about difficulties practicing religion in such a secular society.
Bais Chana was a 24/7 learning opportunity and I met some of my best friends on that trip.
I spent time at the Bais Chana Womens Program almost 4 years ago and then again 3 years ago. I am mentioning this from the very beginning because even though my time there was not recent, I still carry all of the amazing and truly inspirational messgaes that I learned. Most of all I made friends that will last a lifetime and are active people in my life and the community that encourage women's studies and participation. The program changed my view of the Jewish woman as a dated and uneducated stereotype that only has one role in the community. Now I understand and practice myself the TRUE role of a Jewish woman in my daiy life, thanks to Bais Chana.
What an enriching experience Bais Chana Provided!
Meeting so many inspirational woman. engaging in stimulating Learning and discussion.
I walked a way a stronger and smarter woman!
Bais Chana helped me when I was in need of guidance and direction. The people there were supportive, insightful, wise, open minded and warm. I was invited to think about things in new ways, and encouraged to grow and become more. I have been part of bais chana for a couple years now, but and i will always consider them my family.
As a young girl, I attended Bais Chana classes with my mother. Even then, I was impacted by the sincerity of the personnel and the quality of the participants. As an adult, I worked for Bais Chana for over 7 years as their media producer. I attended over 10 sessions, interviewed over 100 participants, and recorded over 60 hours of meaningful dialogue, classes, and interactions. Consistently, across all demographics, the women I interviewed shared the same things: The learning is dynamic, insightful and personally meaningful beyond their expectations; the staff is incredibly insightful and supportive; the women who attend are sincere, warm and non-judgmental people with which a sisterhood instantly develops; there is a strong sense of ''coming home'' to a place that welcomes you with open arms and it is "life-changing". Last year, for the first, time, I left my video equipment at home and I came to Bais Chana as a participant. Although I had spent hours over the years talking to so many women about their positive experiences, I was still blown away. It truly was everything described to me- even more! Bais Chana is a unique, valuable, tremendous asset to Jewish women worldwide. It is unparalleled and I feel privileged to be have worked with, and benefited from, this organization.
In Bais Chana, you're given a foundation...a foundation to learn and to grow. Bais Chana isn't just an amazing program, it's so much more than that. Jewish women from all different backgrounds come to Bais Chana to learn, to grow and to connect with Jewish women all around the world. I first came to Bais Chana six years ago, in the summer of 2005 for the teen program and then I returned for a second time in the fall of 2005 for their thanksgiving retreat. Bais Chana gives women the essential tools to empower their lives. Hinda Leah Sharfstein is one of the most dedicated, determined and understanding women that I know—she puts her heart and soul into the program, she makes sure that everyone's needs are met.
The counselors are not randomly chosen. They are specially selected from the camp's amazing director for unique personalities. They are emotionally stable and are there for their girls physically and mentally. They are also there to laugh, cry and joke with them. The atmosphere in Bais Chana is refreshing, it's open and non-judgmental. And, the seminars and workshops are stimulating and full of meaning. Bais Chana offers programs to teens, women and couples.
I can think of so many ways to begin this. Some of these ways include Bais Chana is an amazing experience, or Bais Chana is an incredible program, or Bais Chana has really changed the way I look at life. I should probably pick one of these and go on to write the rest of this review. However, the more I ponder and think about what exactly Bais Chana has done for me, the more I realize that none of those beginning sentences would really be correct. Bais Chana isn’t an amazing or incredible experience; it is so much more than that. Bais Chana hasn’t just changed the way I look at life; it has changed my life itself. Bais Chana is my life, or at least a major part of it.
Where do you find a group of teenage girls who stay up late at night learning Torah? Or sitting around talking with the counselors and other campers about different Mitzvos? Where do you find a group of girls who are so eager to know and to learn? Where do you find an environment in which they are able to do so? The answer to all of these is at Bais Chana.
I loved Bais Chana. Loved it. But it wasn’t only that I loved it, I needed it as well. My soul needed it. I had spent so many years of my life just…confused and wanting to understand things that I couldn’t wrap my head around. For so many years of my life, my soul was hurting. It was crying out for the truth. Then, I went to Bais Chana, and questions that had been on my mind for years suddenly got cleared up. Bais Chana gave me answers, and it also gave me the willpower to continue searching. Bais Chana is the kind of experience that you spend the rest of your life living and growing from. Friends made there are friends forever and things learned there remain with you forever. Bais Chana changes lives. While doctors and surgeons revive people physically, Bais Chana revives people spiritually. And this is definitely just as important.
Bais Chana is a not a place or a mere organization. It's a way of life. The warm staff and people who run the program are truly doing it with love and sincerity.
Bais Chana is the place where everyone can feel safe and at peace; mind, body and spirit.
As a counselor, this is what I always and continue to hear months perhaps years after any program.
''You get the taste of truth and then....you never want to leave; never want to return to the real world.''
''Everyone is given the chance to express themselves in their own way and the magic of it all is that no one feels judged! Everyone gets their moment to shine and no one leaves feeling like a nobody.''
''The world seemed so different after Bais Chana but it made me so strong; I actually felt like I can stand for something. I think people would be much more happy if they stood for at least something!''
''I can't imagine my life now without Bais Chana''
''When I met other girls at the program; it almost felt like we knew each other from the past.''
''Educate a woman and you'll have educated a generation!''
Bais Chana gives women a chance to discover the best lifestyle all the while letting each one's own light lead the way.
What makes it different is that it's not inspiring
It's empowering!
It doesn't change you...it only makes you stronger!
Bais Chana is by far the best womans outreach organization I have ever been involved in. From the moment I arrived at my first retreat you are treated very special. All your needs are taken care of, and the learning is amazing. Hinda Leah, the director works hours upon hours to make a difference in womans lives across all generations. Bais Chana is one of the best places in the world. From my Bais Chana experience I grew individually, and as a couple.
There are couple retreats as well.
When I went to Bais Chana my first time I had recently made a big change in my life. I was raised one way, and then as teenagers go, I went down a path opposite from how I was raised. Things came to pass in my life that brought me full circle to realize I had the truth from my family, but I didn't see it for a lot of years.
When I went to Bais Chana, I was new going down this path, and Bais Chans helped to solidify things, and give me the answers I needed to know I was doing the right thing now.
From my personal expereince at Bais Chana I decided to be a donor, so I could be apart of this experience to also help make a difference for other woman as well.
My experience with Bais Chana Women International was incredible. I spent a week learning in Key Largo, FL with other young, Jewish women. The classes were more intellectual stimulating than most of my college classes were, and the teachers were phenomenal. They presented age-old information from a fresh perspective and challenged us as students to question and grow. I could sense my own personal growth even during the program and see now, a few months down the line, the profound impact left on me by the Bais Chana trip.
Bais Chana is, without a doubt, the best place to be. It is a breath of fresh air in this polluted world. It warms your heart, illuminates your mind, and it empowers you to journey down the path of life. There really are no words to describe it. Only an experience at Bais Chana can truly do it justice.
Bais Chana is an unbeliveable program which truly gives women the necessary tools to empower their lives and the people close to them.
This program women's empowerment 2011 was truely amazing!!
A much needed retreat for single Jewish moms.....wow! ....no one else had done this before....what an awesome opportunity to get away and recharge your battery! Each one of us who attended felt very blessed to be there. I was looking forward to getting rest, and inspiration. Bais Chana delivered even more! It was a beautiful, and dynamic weekend of learning and fun. As well as our inner souls being touched by intriguing and meaningful lectures, our taste buds were treated to delicious and healthy food. There were deep ,interactive groups that brought out our strengths and accomplishments as well as comic relief from laughter yoga! Each one of us shared and received openly. In my opinion, the most difficult challenge for single moms is the sense of isolation we feel. This weekend retreat helped to remove some of that and we all carried away tremendous energy and support to carry on the holy work of raising Jewish children. What a gift! Thank you Bais Chana and may your wonderful work continue for many years to come!
I was fortunate enough to attend a Bais Chana seminar for single Jewish moms in Feb. 2011 in Minnesota. Even though I might be considered a hard-core veteran, having been a single mom for almost 14 years, the Bais Chana experience gave me so much food for thought in parenting, dating, and personal growth. The importance of meeting others who have been in the situation and really sharing that camaraderie cannot be overestimated yet it is the first time I had ever heard of a program geared for this particular group of women. Further, the staff were not just knowledgeable but exceptionally caring and sensitive. As for the opportunity to learn from Rabbi Friedman, truly the only word I can think of is inspiring. I have been to some top notch schools in my day, but Rabbi Friedman is an extraordinary thinker with an unbelievable ability to articulate his ideas as if each one was developed for your own personal situation. Last but not least, the retreat was beautifully hosted with wonderful, healthy food and a warm, restful environment.
There are no words to describe what Bais Chana Women International did for me. It changed my life. Before Bais Chana I just did not feel comfortable in my own skin. I could not appreciate or acknowledge the good in my life, and where to find it. When I came to Bais Chana, they welcomed me with warm arms. I knew I have found my haven. Bais Chana changed the way I look at life, taught me how to appreciate, love, and more importantly to be a better person. I am forever grateful for this organization and for what they have taught and instilled in me. If not for this organization, I would not be the person I am today. Bais Chana offers more than one imagine to ask for. By giving this organization the financial support it so desperately needs, it can reach out to more women who also very much need it. The world NEEDS Bais Chana!
Bais Chana keeps me going :)
The people behind the organization stay true to their very focused goal of reaching out to and empowering women of all ages. There really is no other way to say it. Bais Chana leaves you with a feeling of connection and motivation as well as helps you find the tools you need to accomplish anything.
Bais Chana Women International Inc is always my first choice organization to help out as its objectives are meaningful and life changing in the most effective way.
Bais Chana Int'l has a miraculous way of touching lives, not only for the duration of an event, but for a life time! I personally have watched teens, young adults and individuals well into their senior years have their lives transformed through this organization's endless commitment, warmth and sincerity. The testimonies are legendary!
A bold statement, yet no farther from the absolute truth - Bais Chana is magically life-giving and empowering for its participants and their generations to come.
I had a very uplifting experience when I attended the Bais Chana shabbaton. It was refreshing to be in a relaxed and non- judgemental environment. I also enjoyed listening to Rabbi Friedmans intelligent and inspiring words. This organization is absolutely amazing and I'm looking forward to more fun filled weekends!
Bais Chana is an unusual place that immerses its staff, volunteers and participants in an environment of healthy growth and teaches and inspires all who walk through its door to make positive changes in their lives and to learn how to view the world around them in a healthier fashion.
I went to Bais Chana's summer camp in 2010. The learning I experienced there was very empowering for me in the sense that I was made to feel like I had the unlimited potential to be my very best, with no judgment as to how that should look. Bais Chana is there for girls and women who are really struggling with existential questions about life and their role in it, and between the classes, the other girls, and the amazing counselors, I felt so accepted and encouraged. I would recommend Bais Chana wholeheartedly to my friends, but many of them already know about it because I met them there.
The five weeks of my summer spent at Bais Chana were life changing. The warm and open environment created an atmosphere where you feel comfortable enough to be yourself, yet still providing the necessary tools for growth and self improvement!
What I learned at Bais Chana in one summer would have taken years to learn in the course of my life. It proved to be the grounding and foundation for everything since then.
I have had the most amazing experience with Bais Chana. The staff is so friendly and the classes are exceptional. I would love to see Bais Chana grow more so more people can have the amazing experience that I did which was life-changing for the better.
Bais Chana changed my life. It gave a new appreciation of chassidus and the Rebbe. Rabbi Friedman is a brilliant teacher, and the program is exceptional.
If there ever was a magical place where an atmosphere was conducive to both introspection, and reaching out to others....it is Bais Chana!
Bais Chana helped me to heal from trauma from domestic violence in a way that no other organization could. It is one thing to go through the motions of normal life, to the huge achievement of discovering that my heart still beats with passion and wants to go on to create a positive, spiritually practical life. In providing the unique perspectives, insights and awareness into each individual Basi Chana helps you to illuminate the grey corners of life and bring you out into the sunlight, refreshed, confident and able.
Women from all walks of life, levels of spiritual commitment, different socio/economic backgrounds come to listen, be heard, experience and connect in a profoundly enriching way that will change their lives forever for the positive.
Bais Chana is a wonderful organization. I went on one of their programs and it changed my perspective on life. They provide very influential teachers that really know how to get to people. It is very diverse and the people that go come from many different backgrounds.
I found the atmosphere at Bais Chana extremely open and refreshing, one in which every individual felt the freedom to express her experiences and perspectives in a completely non-judgmental environment. The scholars and teachers on the staff are professional and helpful, offering classes which cater to both the beginner and the advanced. An extremely high level of education coupled with a warm and vibrant community of women.
I recently participated in a weekend retreat that the Bais Chana Women International Inc. sponsored. This retreat met women where they were at in their lives today, and help empower each and every participant to reach their highest level of potential. The speakers, workshop leaders and the warm caring atmosphere was a perfect match for the serious work that ensued. I have a great deal of respect for the women involved and the professionals that organized such an event! Thank you.
Bais Chana changed my life. A few months ago I was contacted by a woman in my community about attending a weekend for single Jewish mothers. At first I was hesitant. I had only recently become "single" and my budget could be a great excuse to say "no." Bais Chana was committed to facilitating women attending the retreat and I decided that with such generosity, I needed to take a leap of faith and attend.
The retreat featured brilliant instructors and life coaches who inspired me and encouraged me to elevate my thinking and actions and move forward as a woman and mother in an empowered and postive way.
I am so grateful for the organization and the important work that they do.

Going to Bais Chana originally I was very nervous to be spending a whole month away from home with people I didn't know. But right away when I got there I felt comfortable. Rabbi Manis Friedman really has a way of teaching which actually keeps you interested in what he is saying. Everyone who is part of Bais Chana has a story to tell, something inspiring, something to change your life. After leaving Bais Chana, I was inspired to make changes, to apply what I had learned. They helped me realize the value of being a Jewish woman and how to have that shine through in my life. For example; I now understand the beauty of Tzniut; Modesty, and how I am able to express myself even more if I respect myself in how I dress. I am now proud to say I am shomer Shabbat and I light candles every week. They helped me be comfortable in the skin I am in, and to love ever second of being a Jewish woman.
I've been a counselor on multiple Bais Chana programs. On each one of them, I've observed first-hand how the lives of Jewish women transformed for the better.
The lectures and workshops help women of all ages find more meaning in their lives.
The relationships that are built among the participants last way beyond the week that the program runs. They are deep friendships that override age gaps, geographical distance, and time difference.
I think every Jewish woman should have an opportunity at least once in her life to partake in this meaningful and enjoyable program.
I have been on Bais Chana's Women's retreat for 2 consecutive summers and have always been impressed. The classes taught by Rabbi Friedman are stimulating and inspiring. Every person feels like they are part of a family of women growing and learning together. It builds this sisterhood in which every woman feels a part of something greater than herself but individualized to her needs. Bais Chana is truly a life altering experience!
I went to a singles mother retreat. It was an uplifting empowering weekend. Where I was able to speak to professionals and get good advice and relax.
Bais Chana is a place where women join together to find meaning, fulfillment and friendship. Often in life a 'soul searching' journey is simultaneous with loniless, emptiness and futile questioning. Bais Chana creates the space for women to bond together, lean on one-another, and together enrich and find the answers they've been searching for. Inspiration and clarity are all the more meaningful with the support and guidance from the peers you'll meet and friends you will make.
Learn about your Jewish heritage, feel empowered, and connect to your Creator. Bais Chana is more than just a weekend or month long retreat, it's an arrival to a place you'll carry with you for a lifetime.

To say Bais Chana changed my life is an understatement. Life changing is an over-used expression, people rarely mean it. Bais Chana has changed my life in every facet, in every way imaginable. I would not be the person I am today without it. If I imagine a world without Bais Chana, my mind quickly rejects that world, I can’t let myself fathom that world, it would be too painful. I learned so much actual content as well as gained role models, friends and incredible encounters. I gained purpose, happiness, drive, and joy. On top of all that, some of my best life encounters happened in or because of Bais Chana. In Bais Chana Women's International, I gained a life.
In terms of actual content, I learned from Rabbi Friedman, what it means to be a good person, and how to live your life trying to accomplish that goal. I learned a vast knowledge of the teaching of Chassidus and Torah. I learned many chapters of The Tanya, which now in retrospect, is harder to accomplish than it would seem. Rabbi Friedman is the best teacher I have ever had in every subject he has taught me. I learned what respect really means, and how to accomplish that. I learned how to be a good daughter, wife, mother. I learned all about G-d. I think if all i ever got from Bais Chana was an brief understanding of G-d, that would still suffice to write an entire essay about why I love this organization. But I learned so much more than that, as stated above.
I was never a good student in school, one thing I learned in Bais Chana is I like learning, I learned that I'm smarted than my GPA. Another important thing I learned in Bais Chana is, growth, I was given a foundation in BC, and all I want to do is add to that foundation, and learn and grow. You're never done learning, its my life to goal to continue where BC left off. Actually, to say “ where Bais Chana left off” makes it sound like I’m done attending Bais Chana, just so you know, I will never be done with this organization, they are stuck with me! I still try to go as often as I can.
Besides for content that is learned in the classroom, the people I met and experiences are priceless. Hinda Leah Sharfstein and Sara Leah Krinsky, are two of the most devoted, understanding, sensitive, caring, driven, humble, smart.... I'll stop there. You get the idea. They do so much for this program and I love that I get to hang out with them whenever I go to Bais Chana. Also their families are absolutely the best people I have ever met, I know that’s not relevant but, it’s true.
The counselors... Okay. This is what Bais Chana is like for a newbie. You go, you have no idea what to expect, you sit in a class, and you assume you're going to hear run of the mill Jewish wisdom(if there even is such a thing), then the Rabbi starts explaining something in a completely new way, all his own, and even adds in a little controversy to get your mind going, and to get you to start questioning things. Class ends, and where do you go, who can you turn to? The counselors are there to support you. Emotionally, mentally, physically, they are there to laugh cry, and joke with you. My first summer I became close to counselor in particular and 5 years later, today, we share an apartment in brooklyn. I have kept in touch with many of the counselors, and they are my role models, as well as best friends!!!!!!!!!!
The friends i have met. Let me just say many people start out not religious, when they come to Bais Chana and most of the time they leave committed to Judaism in one way or another. It is a difficult process completely changing around your life, and the network and community of caring individuals that is created with each program is so important. People going through the same changes and asking the same questions, who have one another’s backs is vital. Just as the counselors are there as role models, the friends I have made are the greatest friends I have. Because we have been shared a Bais Chana experience together, there is an unspoken agreement, that we will be friends forever and in some way, our souls are connected. Its a very deep bond that goes beyond the walls.
I guess thats all I have to say. Thank G-d I have known many important organizations throughout my life. Bais Chana Women’s International, is what every other organization tries, and pretends to be. Bais Chana puts life in existing.
an amazing organization that held a weekend retreat for single mothers. I know it sounds cliched, but this was life altering for me. To be exposed to other women who ere facing the same challenges I was, was incredibly validating and comforting. The program was so well structured, so we had learning groups throughout the day with professionals who gave us answers and practical tools of how to deal with the challenges we had faced and those we were currently facing. It is a powerful organization that truly looks to help and empower people in need, through education, support, mentoring and life skills.
My connection with Bais Chana began 18 years ago when I attended my first married women's retreat. I came to Bais Chana looking for answers regarding my marriage and my life. Happily, I came away with the confidence that, though my life would not be perfect, I could and would find workable solutions to my challenges. How? Through the classes, interaction with other retreat members, and gestalt of the Bais Chana experience I gained a perspective that helped me understand myself better. With that perspective, I was (and am) better able to adress the issues in my life. My first Bais Chana experience was pivotal in my life; since then I have attended several wonderful Bais Chana retreats and maintained a close relationship with the organization. I am forever grateful to Bais Chana, Rabbi Manis Friedman and Hinda Leah Sharfstein for their dedication to helping women of all ages and stages grow spiritually and emotionally.
Bais Chana is an amazing empowering organization. It teaches small groups of teenage girl's, women and couples enriching deep thoughts about Judaism, spirituality and lifelong lessons with Chassidus. This program is for every level of the Jewish soul and should be a part of your life as a spiritual make-over.
My experiences in Israel were amazing, we had onsite learning with educated lessons given by Rabbi Manis Friedman and Malka Touger. We went on a number of different religious tour sites such as Ein Gedi, Chevron, Kever Rochel, Rabbi Akiva and many more. At each site of the tour, we had an onsite class about the location as well as a well guided tour. Overall, all of my many experiences with Bais Chana have been amazing, spiritual and soul pampering. I look forward to my next experience at Bais Chana.
Bais Chana has helped me change my life... As a student and someone who benefited from donations to this organization I hope that they get more and more support so they can help other girls like me! All of the staff and teachers of Bais Chana are so committed to bettering the lives of individuals and then giving tools to the attendees of their programs to help others! There's not another program like Bais Chana anywhere!!!
Bais Chana is a place where you feel free to express! Through seminars, team building, and group exercises, our minds are opened to a place we never new existed- the soul of our mind. Thank you Bais Chana for finding my soul!
Bais Chana
Has an amazing role in empowering women...
Through Seminars and workshops... These women that participate
get support, respect, and bottom line, the truth in a clear concise manner.
They have changed my life... My spiritual practice has deepened,
my role has changed in my community, as well as in my home.
Everysingle woman and girl in our day and age should have a chance to experience Bais Chana!!!!
Its Major!
At a critical time in my life, when I found myself soul-searching and looking for deeper meaning, Bais Chana opened doors for me to learn about my roots, my rich heritage, and ultimately about myself. By participating in their women's program for college students, so long ago, I gained not only precious knowledge and direction about my rich cultural and religious heritage, but I also forged friendships that have lasted a lifetime. A few years ago, my own daughter, in her own search for connection and meaning, also attended a Bais Chana program. I watched, with gratitude, how she blossomed from her own experience. Bais Chana changed my life. I have remained somewhat involved (though not enough) throughout the years, and I have seen this happen over and over again, regardless of age, level of knowledge, direction of search: everyone finds their place, gathers inner strength, and then is able to go forth with a steadier step. There is no other place in this world like Bais Chana, and there is no kinder and gentler soul than the woman who has selflessly made it all happen, Hinda Leah.
I have never experienced a program as unbeleivable as Bais Chana. I have gone as a camper for the past two summers, ad both years I left a changed person. Once in Bais Chana, the atmosphere completely releived me of the stress and confusion of my everyday life. There, I was able to disconnect from all the superficial things I usually focus on, such asTV shows and celebrities, in a way that enabled me to think about my goals and values, and really grow as an individual. We spoke and learned about life, love, G-d-- and at an extremely deep level. I learned so much, and the counselors and campers alike inspired me to be the best person I could be. I didn't just make friends-what I found at Bais Chana can only be called a family.
Bais Chana is my Manna.
Bais Chana gets me through life and makes me better equipped to help those around me. I haven't been able to attend a retreat in almost 2 years, but I still use the things I learned there in my everyday life on a regular basis.
Just the other day, I experienced a really powerful example of this. Someone that I'm not particularly close with e-mailed me when a good friend of hers committed suicide. She was totally at a loss, she didn't know what to think or feel, and she didn't know how to find any comfort in Judaism- she was only hearing about seemingly harsh halachas. At first, I didn't know what to say. But then I remembered that Rabbi Manis Friedman had briefly spoken about this at the retreat I'd been at, so I rushed to find my notebook and sent her what he'd said. It really helped her in an intense way. We're closer now because of that incident, and have been corresponding on a regular basis ever since.
My memories of my time at Bais Chana are incredible ones that I cherish now. Writing this review is serving as a reminder that I need to get back there, asap. There is not doubt in my mind that I am a stronger and more capable woman and Jew because of the programs that I've had the good fortune to be able to attend.
Bais Chana by far exceeded all my expectations!
They opened my mind and heart in ways you can never imagine. The atmosphere was relaxing and non-judgmental, and the lectures were deep and thought-provoking. I cannot wait for the next Women's Retreat!
I have considered myself a part of the Bais Chana Women's International Organization for about five years. I attended summer programs as both a participant, and an adult volunteer. The selflessness and joy with with this program is run, creates an atmosphere unlike any other. This organization has had a huge effect on my life and has helped me achieve many goals and become the person that i am today.
Thank you Bais Chana!
Bais Chana gave me the help and support I needed when I was in an abusive relationship. The counselors and my peers who participated in the Vermont summer program showed me that I could feel loved and valued as an independent woman. Even though it took me a few more months to finally end the abuse in my personal life, I consider the leaders at Bais Chana to be essential contributors to my personal sense of empowerment, and the empowerment of many young women I've met.

I Loved my experience at the beis chana single mom's retreat. At first I was a bit reluctant to go, I was not quit sure of what I would gain. But once I got there, everything changed. The environment is so warm. The teachers truly care and serve as excellent role models. rabbi Manis Friedman gives deep, intellectual, and practical classes. It changed my whole perspective on so many aspects of life.
I also gained so much, just by being in the presence of so many other women in my position. I learned so much from all of them. One thing that really stands out in beis chana is the family atmosphere. All the women have a common denominator: everyone comes to learn and grow, All the women are very receptive when put in such a wonderful environment that beis chana creates. I thank them so much for having this program, and to the donors who sponsor to such a meaningful cause.
One of the best experiences of my life! I learned more than I ever thought possible and made friends that will last a lifetime... all in 8 days!
OK you have no idea how much bais chana helped me. I went on the teens shabbaton and came back CHANGED. Like on a whole new realm. I learned so much in so little time and had a perfect experience. So homey, so warm, so open. They took inspired to a new level; they literally raised me up. Everyone back at home realized and is psyched now too!
I LOVE BAIS CHANA!!! The program and the people involved are truly dedicated to serving women of all backgrounds and I have personally been impacted greatly by the learning and camaraderie that is present at every Bais Chana event. I have witnessed this program change people's lives for the better and it deserves any and every recognition. Rabbi Manis Friedman is the most impactful and inspiring man and teacher there is and it is a true privilege to have access to him on the programs!
They were awesome!!! Seriously stopped me from killing myself. Really showed me there was a whole world out there where as a woman, I could thrive!
The first time I attended Bais Chana, was at a recommendation from a friend. I was very reluctant to go. but after some talking to I decided to go. I had the most spiritual and amazing experience in my life. I went once more as an attendee, and twice to volunteer. I love Bais Chana. They really changed my life for the better. I know that if I am struggling with anything there is someone from Bais Chana there on the other line ready to listen. I don't know where I would be today if it wasn't for this organization. I grew spiritually in a way I never thought I could. The classes were amazing and the surroundings were pure. The people there wanted to be there and helped anybody that was struggling. we would stay up all hours of the night talking about the classes.
I went on a snorkel and study program and met 80 amazing girls from all over the country and canada. I learned and had fun on this program. Without it, I wouldn't have met two of my best friends. This is an amazing opportunity from girls of all different Jewish backgrounds and empowers women in so many different ways.

Bais Chana is an amazingly empowering experience for women of all ages. It's a safe place for Jewish women to explore their identity and heritage in a warm, inspiring, unifying setting. Bais Chana provides women with the tools that they need to be successful and empowered members of society and the Jewish community in particular. Thousands thank Bais Chana for making them the wives, mothers, and role models that they are today.
I went on a winter retreat with Bais Chana for Jewish women for one week in Florida, during the winter and I returned home to Vermont recharged and glowing and it had little to do with the weather. I was empowered by the lectures and the friendships with women that I made there, I came back a fresh inspired woman.
Bais Chana is an amazing program that really inspires women to have more confidence with themselves and who they truely are. It allows women to experience their true potential through Jewish learning and caters to every participant's specific needs and level of comprehension. The programs at Bais Chana are highly recommended, the staff is extremely welcoming, never making participants feel isolated or inferior for not knowing something. The main focus of the staff at Bais Chana is to help participants learn and grow in order to reach their true potential and essentially to love being who they are by getting to know that person (themselves) better.
I was a Volunteer at Bais Chana. Bais Chana is a place where women of all ages can experience their connection to God and His universe through learning that is extremely stimulating and thought provoking. Another aspect that makes Bais Chana such an amazing organization is that the women that join together bond in a way where no matter how many years later they might meet up they feel so deeply connected.

Bais Chana has changed the way I look at Judaism. Without its skilled staff, excellent programs, and welcoming environment a lot of girls would never have found their Jewish roots. They are more than accomidating even when it means money coming from their own pockets, and that just shouldn't happen to such wonderfully giving people. THey deserve this!
I loved it!!!! I feel that they opened my eyes to a new way of thinking. I spent the whole day learning, and on my free time I sat by the time. I appreciate my new knowledge, and I apply it to my life. This trip has encouraged me to be come a life-time learner, and I will be studying in Israel soon.
The Women's Rights Movement was all about women gaining the same rights as men. This movement has come far. In society nowadays, women are seen as just as great as men for the most part. Women wear pants now, women can be CEO's now, etc. But where is the focus on what women are good at? The idea behind this movement was to show that women are good at everything men can do, what about what they can do without it being compared to men? In my humble opinion, in today's society women try to be second class men. Bais chana teaches women how to be first class women. Women are wonderful in their own right (even more so than men in some respects), why try and be just like men when you can shine in your own merit?
Bais Chana was a wonderful experience for me. I had a wonderful time and made a lot of new friends. The best way to learn is to have fun doing it, and Bais Chana greatly exceeds expectations.
My first experience with bais Chana was when I was in 9th grade. I went for about 3 1/2 weeks for the all girls summer program. I thought I would be the only one like me, coming from an observant background but yet filled with many questions about life. Boy was I wrong. It happened to be that my summer most of the girls were from observant backgrounds and going through the same stage in life that I was. I felt a scene of relief, understanding and community, and yet nothing was ever really said about that. It just happened. We just clicked, explored our Judiasim together and had a wonderful summer.
I have gone back a few times as a 'madricha'- consoler for the summer camp "the un-camp''. Because its not really camp- its MUCH MUCH more then that!
Each girl that attends the program is an entire world- a beautiful soul that needs a hug, a good laugh, some art, some educating, some fresh air, but most of all some real honest down to earth friendship. And thats exactly what each person walks away with at the end of the summer. The friends that I have today are the ones I met on the Bais Chana programs- they are really my friends for life. It's something I don't think i will ever understand- I spent a week and half with someone and they are a friend for life?! Find an explanation for that?! 2 words: Bais Chana
Bais Chana empowered me by helping to define my identity as a woman in Judaism, as a woman in American society, and ultimately, as a person. The warm and open environment at the Bais Chana retreat I went on served as an excellent example of how women should treat one another. I have rarely seen so much respect happening for other people as I did at the Bais Chana Snorkel & Study retreat 2011. We not only created a beautiful collaborative learning environment together, we learned how to take those positive actions forward into the future after the retreat was over.
This organization is all about empowering women. I volunteered one winter and was amazing at the impact the friendship and the leadership skills that we were all left with. I thought I was going to help but I really gained more than I could ever have imagined.
Bais Chana is a wonderful organizatin and my time volunteering for this program has been the most rewarding experience. Bais Chana is for girls and women of all ages and affiliations. It is a place where people come to explore the significance of who they are and this world that they were born into. Things like life's purpose, a higher power and relationships are just some of the topics discovered. People who come feel at home and comfortable right away. Its a time capsule of magic that can only be understood by those who attend. It is a place of acceptance and growth. It is truly the most amazing experience to be had.
Bais Chana is a wonderful, inspiring place to learn more about Judaism and spirituality. The atmosphere is pleasant, the surroundings are beautiful, and the teachers and mentors are very knowledgeable, understanding, and generous with their wisdom and friendship. As a volunteer at a 3 week summer retreat a few years ago, i met many women with whom i built strong, lasting friendships that i treasure.
I have had an amazing experience on two of Bais Chana's Snorkel and Study trips. On each trip I was greeted by amazing women who were open to sharing their ideas and opinions as well as their friendship and compassion. I met two women on these trips, Estee Popack and Devora Leah Popack, whom I remain close with and who have helped me throughout some very difficult family troubles I've had in the past two years. Had I not gone on the Snorkel and Study trip during the Winter of 2009, I'm not sure how I would have been able to get through the things that I did. Bais Chana opened my eyes to different aspects of Judaism and practices that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. This organization has helped shape me into the woman I am today and I hope to continue to attend Bais Chana events and have the opportunity to share in many more memories and learning experiences in the future.
This organization changed my life for the better. It made me a better person and I thank Bais Chana for who I am today. It also helped me meet some of my best friends.
Had such an amazing experience in Bais Chana's Snorkel and Study program. I was greatly influenced by the Chassidic teachings and truly inspired by the other woman; the kindness, warmth and wisdom that goes on in Bias Chana is just incredible.
Bais Chana is truly an amazing organization. I traveled on a Bais Chana trip about 3 months ago and learned so much about myself. I actually am going another retreat in the summer.
Bais Chana is the answer to every Jewish womens prayer. It is a chance to get together with other women, learn and grow in an incredibly uplifiting environment.
Bais Chana is a great educational program which brings together women from across the globe. Everyone leaves feeling empowered and energized! It was a great experience for me!
I attended 2 Bais Chana programs as a volunteer. The days flew by. Everyone involved gained from the program. I feel every minute of the days there are programs I am unable to attend!
I've been to at least 10 Bais Chana Women International programs. The programs for teens, college students and women are always incredible. I have learned a tremendous amount and consider it a privilege to participate in Bais Chana programs.
Bais Chana Women International is a place where ALL Jewish women can learn, grow, work through real life issues, make friends that last a lifetime and have a great time, in a safe, welcoming and non judgemental environment.
Bais Chana is a place that every jewish girl should get a chance to experience!!!!
Its life changing and empowering!
This is a great program that caters to girls from all walks of life. It's all encompassing, spirited and the staff seem really caring. The experience was fulfilling and left me with great new friends.
I went to Bais Chana Un-Camp this summer and the Thanksgiving Weekend Retreat it changed my life. I'm a girl from a place where there are not many Jews and I am becoming more observant and learning more about Judaism. I had the great opportunity to go to Bais Chana this summer and this past November and I met girls from all over the world. There were girls that were raised in an observant Jewish household and girls that were not very observant at all they were just interested in learning. I was really nervous when I was going this past summer for the first time because I didn't know a single person that was going to be there and I thought as soon as Rabbi Friedman started talking I wasn't going to understand what he was saying. My fears were quickly dissolved. Everything was at a pace that no matter whom you were or what your background was you could understand and take away positively from every class. Also, I never thought you could put 50 girls together for three and a half weeks or even for the weekend and not have conflict or fighting. But, the girls that attend are all so kind and the counselors that they have leading us are some of the most helpful and interesting kindhearted people you will ever meet. I never felt so at home away from home. Bais Chana brought out the best in me. Taught me about myself who I am and who I want to become. I love Bais Chana Women International and I recommend it to everyone!
I have just returned from Bais Chana Teen Program and I am thoroughly impressed with its unique approach to empowerment by nurturing the key elements of the person. Although there is a structured program each girl is treated sensitively, as an individual. Significantly, the entire staff, under the wise, warm, and capable direction of Mrs. Hinda Leah Scharfstein, is hand-picked---each counselor contributes her special talents, skills, and ability to relate to the girls. There is a refreshing, non-judgmental atmosphere of genuine caring. Rabbi Manis Friedman teaches daily Torah classes which reach beyond the intellect and vitalize the core of the Jewish feminine soul. His nightly question and answer sessions, full of wit, wisdom, humor and personal stories address much that churns and burns in the hearts and minds of the girls. Mr. Yaakov Yitchak Rosenthal, a talented, caring handwriting analyst, physiognomist and life coach who concentrates on the social-emotional issues of teenagers, meets with each girl to point out areas of strengths and challenges in a positive, constructive, encouraging way. Rounding out the program is the art room, directed by Mrs. Aharah Aisman, which provides plenty of opportunity for self-expression, creativity and growth. Bais Chana masterfully nurtures the inner dimensions of the Jewish teenage girl, planting seeds of who she can become.
Bais Chana Women International Inc Has helped me in many ways, and the two summers that I attended the camp was amazing and uplifting, I hope that they will be able to continue their job of empowering women.
Bais Chana has been great for me in the area of finding personal fulfillment, enriching my marriage, improving my parenting skills, and being a better person. I am very grateful to Hinda Leah Sharfstein and Rabbi Manis Friedman for their sensitivity and willingness to share their learning and expertise. I have also learned a lot from the many guest speakers and teachers. Two of my daughters have gone to the teen "Un-Camp" and gotten a lot out of it. The staff have been open and willing to give them support later in their lives, after camp was over, for years, and it has been wonderful.
Bais Chana has done so much for me. I learned so many basic ideals and philosophies which I was then able to expand on by continuing to learn at this woman's organization. They have excellent teachers whom teach about achieving your fullest in life, and handling various situations with different types of people.
The first time I attended Bais Chana's Retreat was as a young woman, quite new to Judaism, over 14 years ago. During my time there, I experienced an amazingly powerful and uplifting week, with lectures by various women, and talks by Rabbi Friedman. The talks were enlightening, touching and moving. The sense of comraderie amoung the women, and the care of each person there was truly unique. I returned to Bais Chana again two years ago, delighted to find that the same energy, the same amazing learning, and the same unique environment for personal growth and connecting with women had not been lost. I encourage any woman, of any age and level of observance, to attend one of these retreats. You will not be disappointed.
Bais Chana was an unexpected and exceptional gift of education, inspiration, and personal support that began for me in 2005. Following a referral from my Rebbetzin in Seattle, WA, I flew to my first Bais Chana program in Palm Springs, CA, and have since attended additional programs offered in Florida and Connecticut. Bais Chana fulfilled my search for a Jewish Women’s institution that would help further my goals for a greater connection with my heritage and Jewish women; and improve my understanding of the spiritual and practical aspects of observance. I need not be standing physically amongst Bais Chana’s remarkable educators, outstanding staff, or lovely venues to recognize the enormous impact this institution has had upon me nor, I imagine, its many attendees from all over the world.
After becoming frum when I was young and starting a Chabad on Campus program in my non-Jewish school I needed support, I needed to stay connected to the source of my mission: G-d. Bais Chana was my breather, my direct connection to G-d. Thank you Bais Chana for always pushing me to be the best Jew I can be. The Tanya classes, Rabbi Friedman's Question Box sessions and all the guest speakers are only the tip of the summit. The counselors and skill building activities along with the Jewish identity gained through every minute of the program make every moment worth a life time.
Bais Chana is where I laugh, cry, unwind, feel moved to thank God, feel safe to be mad at God, and where I have created deep bonds with truly remarkable women who have helped me focus the lens through which I view myself and the world in which I live. I believe that in most things in life, you get out what you put in, but at Bais Chana I think you just need to show up. Come as you are. The experience speaks for itself. You won't leave the same person.
This is the most incredible and warming place to discover ones Jewish roots. The Jewish people are an ancient people with a modern task. It is open to all people to discover exactly what Judaism has to offer the world, in a non judgmental, professional, warm and welcoming way. This non profit has the power to change the world, by harnessing the power of the human soul. It is open to couples, women, and teens. The staff is completely dedicated to making each woman's experience special, unique and absolutely unforgettable.
By attending classes and interacting with the other attendees, I was able to learn about healthy relationships and how to develop them. I also began to understand more about who I am and what my role is in the world and how to actualize the good that lies at the essence of each piece of crration.
I went to Bais Chana, not knowing what to expect. My Rabbi and Rebitzen had been trying to get me to go to this one week program every year for the past 4 years, but there was always something stopping. This time around, I was ready. I wanted to go, to learn, to be with other women my age, hoping to find someone going through the same thing. The women there were all different- different religious backgrounds, different ages, different interests, from different places of the world...but all had one thing in common: all came to this program with an open heart and an open mind. Everyone had a story to tell, and from each girl, I learned something new, about myself, about religion, about life. One lunch, I sat down next to an older women, and we started talking. Well, to be honest, I did most of the talking...I had never met this woman before, barely knew her name, yet somehow, I found myself telling her about my inner-most worries, and my fear of the future. I could tell from her eyes that she was truly listening and taking it all in. She gave me the kind of advice that you expect from a best friend you've known for years...she told me exactly what I needed to hear, and throughout the rest of the program, made herself available to talk at any time. It turns out that Hinda Leah was *the* head of the program- and although she spent months organizing this program, when the girls arrived, she was not behind the scenes, but right there with us, at our side, ready to help. Speaking with Hinda Leah was the first step of the journey that I have been on for 6 months now. Though the program was only one week long, it changed my life. I am a better person, a stronger person, and a more confident woman, now, than I was before attending Bais Chana. I am happy to say that I still keep in touch with many girls from the program, including Hinda Leah.
I was lucky enough to have been both a counselor and participant in the Bais Chana program. Bais Chana is truly a unique organization. With respect to the camp, the counselors are hand picked by the camp's wonderful and caring director, for unique talents and personalities. The students that come are from all different backgrounds which made for a really interesting summer. The main teacher, Rabbi Friedman, is one of the most caring, intelligent and empathetic Rabbis I know. He would discuss difficult subjects in the classroom which forced such as love and intimacy and force you to stop and think. He would ask questions to the group just see the reaction of the students . I've seen him and the organization change people's lives. In addition to giving one on one counseling to any student who requested it, he also spoke to any of the counselors one on one, about anything. He has such a vast knowledge of different subjects, that one could ask him pretty much anything and he would give his opinion in a kind manner. The summer I worked with him and the entire staff changed. I recommend anyone who is searching, orthodox or not, to spend one day or a couple at Bais Chana.
In May of 2008, I was 21 years old and on the brink of divorce, after only five months of marriage with a guy I'd know for almost two years, and whom I believed I'd be married to for the rest of my life. I am very fortunate in that it became poignantly clear so early on that the marriage was not going to work out, however, my life had been turned upside down, and everything I thought I wanted and needed was seemingly being taken away from me against my will and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I was heartbroken, angry, scared, and confused. During those tumultuous months I began to question what was really important to me. Where I wanted to go. What type of life I wanted to lead. I was advised by a Rabbi and mentor of mine to go and learn for a week at a Bais Chana retreat being held in the Berkshires, CT. I was a bit hesitant at first, because I knew that if the experience was a good one, I would likely have to face some harsh realities and make many difficult changes. I was also concerned that perhaps I'd be the only girl at the program in a situation like my own. I remember speaking to Hinda Leah (the program director) on the phone before applying. I gave her a basic run-through of who I was and what I was looking to get from the program, "So you think I should come?," I asked, "It will change your life," she replied. I felt that was a pretty bold statement, and decided to test her theory and go, and I am forever grateful that I did. Once there, I immediately knew it was where I needed to be. The women were warm, the grounds where the retreat was held were breathtakingly beautiful, and the classes were intellectually stimulating and soul-stirring. There was an air of unity and strength amongst the women that was palpable the whole week long. I met so many powerful people, staff and student alike, and made strong connections with many woman, of whom I'm still close with today. My experience at Bais Chana was a turning point for me in my life, and gave me the strength and clarity I needed, not only to move forward and make those changes, but to embrace them.
I have never experienced anything like this program before. They give one-on-one attention. The people working in this organization are always energetic, kind, and constantly have a lot of each student grow. The people running this program give up all their time and energy to make sure everything is perfect. I went there this summer expecting nothing much, and came out in awe! Not only was it a fun and beautiful experience, but I left a different person I came. It was something I would mention and reccomend to all my friends from then on. I grew. Learned. Experienced. There is no other organization like it.
When I first went to Bais Chana in 1980, I was 19 years old and ready to follow the path in life which was the absolute truth .I learned with other young women in a structured classroom setting from a very educated and interesting young rabbi about our jewish heritage. But it was much more than that, I felt like I had discovered the world, and my place in it! An enormous sense of happiness and fulfillment, every word so meaningful and reveling.Today, 30 years later, I thank Bais Chana for giving me the opportunity to learn what has become my life which I share with my children and grandchildren with so much joy and pride!!
Although I had previous Jewish learning experiences, going to Snorkel & Study 2009 during my winter break from college was definitely a defining experience. Different things I learned there gave me the resolve to move forward with certain life changing choices. (Including getting married). I also made some awesome friends which was a big deal at the time since I was a rather obsessive student and lost track of many of my previous friends.
Three years ago, I came from South Africa, to Bais Chana’s summer program. I was over worked and exhausted, looking for direction and a break. My life has never been the same since. Bais Chana has always been there for me and I see how they are always there for every Jewish Women, every step of the way. Whether it be a teenager searching for answers, an undirected student questioning her own identity and existence, a Professional looking to understand her role as a women, or a Mother wanting to strengthen her knowledge, Bais Chana empowers women to go out into the world with a strong sense of purpose and knowledge of their role as a Jewish women in an every changing world. I have been back to a program ever since, and I always feel that there is so much more to learn and gain, each time I am imparted with more strength and clarity . The organization has provided a continuum of strength and support for women of all ages and backgrounds to further their Jewish education. Whether you are a onetime attendee or come back regularly, you always leave with a life changing experience.
I came back, each time, stronger as an individual, as a Jewish woman,as a mother, a daughter and as a wife. The classes were very inspirational. And the women attending the classes also added so much to the experience.
In no uncertain terms, Bais Chana changed my life. I was able to reconnect with my heritage, meet amazing and supportive women, and walk away feeling empowered, educated, and excited about continuing my Jewish journey. The knowledge, friends and mentors I gained from each Bais Chana retreat have enriched my life, and on a daily basis, I draw from the lessons I learned at Bais Chana.
Bais Chana has completely changed my life in every way possible. Bais Chana's Snorkel and Study program opened my eyes to a whole word I did not know existed and has completely awakened my soul. At Bais Chana I have met wonderful women, amazing teachers, and formed everlasting friendships. I am extremely thankful for the inspiration and guidance that Bais Chana has given me.
This is the most amazing program I have ever attended. The atmosphere the staff creates is so unique and comfortable that friends are made quickly. The experience I had when I went was life changing. I have attended more than one program and each time I walk away with an unforgettable experience and at the end you see the difference in each person who left. Your views on life change and there's a new understanding of the world and all of leave with new friends. Bais Chana deserves the recognition, they work hard and truly make a difference in peoples lives. I know from experience because they changed mine.
bs''d Bais Chana is a unique school that helps women of all ages reconnect with the essence of their souls.
Bais Chana is a unique organisation, in it's ability to bring together women who are different in almost every way... (age, character, upbringing, nationality and career..) and blend them into one harmonious group, learning from and with one another. A single program which caters to the very individual needs of each participant (some facing serious challenges), is hard to come by. Participants leave changed, always for the better. The directors have worked hard, and succesfully created a haven of physical comfort, spiritual warmth and emotional growth.
I attended Bais Chana for the first time almost 2 years ago, and have taken part regularly since. Rabbi Maanis Friedman taught classes that stimulated my mind and soul in a way that opened me up to see the world from new perspectives. I thank G-d that there is at least one place where my questions about life, Judaism, and G-d are answered in away that I can feel at peace. Thank You Rabbi Friedman, and Bais Chana.
Bais Chana gave me my life back. I went to a summer Bais Chana program almost a year ago and the positive life changing effects continue to stay with me. At Bais Chana I was embraced with genuine love, warmth and acceptance. I am eternally grateful to them for what they so generously gave and taught me. Bais Chana is for all Jewish ladies, no matter what their background or observance is. I know that no matter what, Bais Chana will always be there for me as a home base. With open arms, I know I will be accepted and receive a chance to be reminded and refreshed about the purpose and foundations of life. At Bais Chana, everything becomes more clear and starts to make more sense. Rabbi Friedman's teachings of simplicity and reality are relevant to every life situation and really help to put things into perspective. Thank you Bais Chana.
Everything changed after my first encounter at Bais Chana in 2005. After spending almost 6 hours (what felt like two minutes) with other women and the most candid Rabbi I had ever met, I had a burning excitement within. With openness and sensitivity, we had spoken about purpose, fear, sexuality, death, health, family, love and everything in between. I had wondered how I had been functioning all this time without having had these vital conversations. All I knew was that, for the first time, I felt empowered and alive as a woman and citizen of the world. Bais Chana is the only organization I know of today that addresses the genuine needs of today's woman, engaging them in important conversations that are all-too-often ignored. Bais Chana programs give women an aesthetic, engaging, warm and honest atmosphere in which to connect, celebrate and address real issues. The environment, activities and courses are carefully planned in a way that every one - regardless of background and affiliation - feels they are being spoken to. From all my years of involvement with Bais Chana, I have met hundreds of women, all whom report a heightened sense of purpose, understanding and happiness. The participants are diverse. The food is healthy and tasty. The accommodations are always beautiful and exciting. The lectures (or conversations) are always open and relevant. It has been five years since I sat as a student in Bais Chana. But it is not a thing of the past. Every single question answered and connection made has carried me through my life much as it has for the countless other women. Why? Because Bais Chana talks to women in a way they can't forget. At Bais Chana, I learned why I should be treasured as a women. I learned to better respect my parents...and myself. I learned how to bless my relationships. I learned how to LEARN. I was given the tools I didn't KNOW I needed - to function not just as a "normal" person but a better, more honest, intuitive and WHOLE person. At Bais Chana I learned not to settle for less. From myself and from the world. Bais Chana is proof that simply by addressing the core elements of existence, we can emerge more fulfilled, connected and fearless. Taking time out of our busy lives to give attention to everything that matters is an indescribably important gift. Imagine a world where more and more women had the opportunity to be heard, share their own voice and have access to all the beauty and purpose life has to offer. Imagine women could come together to attune themselves with truth in a down-to-earth, non-judgmental and totally engaging way. Imagine every woman coming alive. Just imagine.
After college I attended Bais Chana Women International for the first time at a study retreat in St. Paul, MN. It was an eye opening, stimulating Jewish experience where I was introduced to Kabbalah, Chassidut, and very meaningful commentary on Jewish life and Jewish law. The educators did and continue to do an excellent job of showing how the Torah is relevant to each person's life. The group was non judgmental and I felt very comfortable asking questions and exploring my own connection and interpretation of Judaism. I came away with many answers and many more questions. I am still friendly with many of the women that I've met at Bais Chana events. Each venue has it's own charm from beautiful rustic cabins in the Berkshire Mountains to 5 star Key Largo resorts. The food is excellent.
Bais Chana is an organisation that transforms one's outlook, definition and ability to live in this world as a true Jewish daughter of G-d.  From the first time I came into contact with Bais Chana - at a retreat in the Berkshires early 2005 - I was overwhelmed by the way in which I was welcomed even though I knew so little, how I was treated as though I was already a 'woman of worth', how simple everything seemingly was - but how very complex in a most soul searching and yet to be intriguing manner.  The most low-key approach to visitors, both new and old - threw me. It was so non-threatening. Hinda Leah - the amazing organiser, director, fundraiser, teacher and about to become friend - heads up this extraordinary organisation. From her lead comes the young women who help with everything from room finding, general enquiries, feeding both physical and spiritual, teaching and also yet again - friendship.  But what is it that really happens - nothing - nothing except that through the amazing teaching from some of the most gifted lecturers in the Jewish world - life in its myriad of views is dissected, analyzed and put back together again in a form that enhances you. When Rabbi Friedman teaches, he is speaking to you, and you, and you…and me. All without judgment - all with experiences given over through incredible knowledge, humility, joy and love. He touches each of us as though we are the only ones in his path. This level of teaching is what I call a gift from G-d - allowing us an insight as to who we are, have been and may yet become.  Since then I have been an avid devotee of the Rabbi and Bais Chana and all of their superb lecturers, Freidy Yanover, Malka Touger, Rivka Slonim amongst many, many others.  I have lots and lots of stories about what this organisation does and how it affects those fortunate beings who attend one of their retreats whether they be, teenagers, students, women of all ages or even the couples.
I first began to teach at Bais Chana some sixteen years ago when the program was still located in Minnesota and ran programs for college aged women twice a year, during the Winter Iintersession and during the Summer. I have watched-- with wonder_- as Bais Chana has evolved as an institute, a university without walls -- that offers eclectic and cutting edge programmaing to women of all ages ( and some programs for couples as well) in a variety of destinations. Bais Chana has created a community of women that often spans teengagers and their relatives , mothers, aunts, sisters, cousins, grandmothers etc. It is a place where you find women of every socio-economic strata, every culture, race and professional orientation. It is a place that transcends the general ways in which we divide ourselves. From the first time, I was hooked on the unparalleled experience and have been back, most often twice a year and sometimes thrice, to teach at one of the many programs. I often try, and always fail, to properly encapsualte what it is that gives Bais Chana its unique power. The best I can muster is the fact that Bais Chana creates a crevice in time and space that allows people to learn about themselves, their relationships and their tradition in an environment that is completely non judgemental and totally accepting. It allows each of the women ( and the couples) to find a safe harbor in which they can open up to profound ideas and practical ways to implement them. As an instructor, all I can say is that teaching at Bais Chana is a blessing and a privelege. We all become more porous, more open to each other, we are all teachers and students on these retreats and we emerge not only richer but completely transformed. I know this sounds like hyperbole, but please believe me when I say that this is rather understated!
Living life fully is what we all strive for, and the prerequisite for this is knowing and being who you are. The freedom of being yourself starts with feeling safe. Bais Chana is a a safe haven where the souls of women are brought to the surface, and explored with honesty. When this "open soul surgery" takes place, and you have the opportunity to cradle that soul in your hands, a holistic transformation takes places. All that life is, comes from this point. And, what comes next is continuous, organic growth. Bais Chana - I first went in 1993 when I was a young mother, with my baby in my arms. Now, that baby goes to Bais Chana. I feel a sense of deep, soulful security, knowing that my she is getting what I got, and for generations, this will matter...not only to my descendants, but to the communities they live in and nurture as well.
I first started going to Bais Chana when I was 16. I was just coming into my womanhood and had lots of insecurities about my image, friends, and boys. After one weekend on the program I felt I wasn't alone. there were many emerging adults, emerging woman with the same questions and we found a place in which we can find answers. Bais Chana has provided me with a safe haven throughout my teenage and early-adult life. I learned how to relate to myself with dignity, with respect. I learned how woman are valued and cherished. How we should not be afraid to stand up for what we believe in. Bais Chana has fueled me with the strength and confidence to continue in my education and professional career path. Bais Chana helped me develop long lasted relationships with men and woman. I believe all woman should spend some time on the program, empowered by other great woman, and enriched by inspiring teachers.
In today's fast paced individual oriented society many are searching for meaning and community. Bais Chanah provides a safe nurturing environment for womento find cameraderie, purpose and anchors in an increasingly confusing world and to explore deep philosophical questions about the complexities of life. I have seen many women from all walks of life and diverse persuasions, find direction and guidance in a non threatening and emotionally supportive environment.
Bais Chana is the beginning of life's essential journey for many woman. Our generation is one that seems to be on a constant search for truth and meaning. Bais Chana provides an environment of study that is both safe and honest. I have had the opportunity to counsel woman at Bais Chana on rebuilding their lives after loss, on strengthening themselves in order to strengthen their relationships, on repairing relationships with others through self introspection and perhaps most significantly on their unique individual contributions in a society which advances rapidly in the dissemination of information but fails miserably in human relationships. Women come to Bais Chana to heal. Bais Chana goes the extra mile and gives woman life.
I didn't know what to expect and was suprised when I found myself in the midst of a spiritual rejuvenation! The environment is ideal for meaningful discussions about life. Although the women who attend are from many different backgrounds...the support generated by a natural connection with other women is wonderful. It was the perfect retreat for the soul!
I had heard Rabbi Manus Friedman speak once many years before going to my first Bais Chana. Newly Baal Tsuvah and looking for more learning I booked a Bais Chana retreat and with trepedation got on a plane to Palm Springs to join a group of women for a Bais Chana experince. After just a few days I returned totally transformed. The method of study was fantastic. Rabbi Friedman and the other teachers were more than that. Since then I have been to Bais Chana more than 15 times and helped to bring the retreat program to Florida so more women (and couples) could be exposed to this wonderful learning experience. I also was involved in the first Bais Chana trip to Israel. I, personally, love the Women's Retreats. Learning in that environment is easy. There is a commraderie amongst the women and an ease of communication. The thoughts that are expressed by the teachers and the students help take one to new levels of spirituality and understanding. I have gained many wwonderful friends from these retreats who live all over the world. We continue to share our lives and experiences with each other despite the miles that separate us growing upon the base that was established at our Bais Chana experience. I have tried many other learning experiences and have yet to find one that even approximates the type of learning and life style changes that one can experience at a Bais Chana. If you haven't been to a Bais Chana I stronly recomment that you find a program and go join the other women, couples or teens that are going for an experience of a life time.
Bais Chana brings together women of all ages and stages of their intellectual, emotional and spiritual development. Through lectures and small group discussion with outstanding lecturers, I have been able to broaden my view of how I look at people and the experiences that occur in my life.
An acquaintance of mine suggested I attend one of Bais Chana's women retreats, and I admit I was a bit intimidated at the idea of being surrounded by individuals who were more knowledgeable and certainly more Jewish than me. Surprisingly, the experience I had at the retreat was trans-formative and of course everyone was so kind. Most of the women who have attended come back saying how 'amazing' it was and for me that isn't the right word. I'd say it was interesting, expanding, and confusing. I'm a non-Jewish woman who's been exposed to more liberal forms of Judaism and I was a bit scared to be surrounded by an Orthodox group. As much as I found such a strict lifestyle so unappealing, when the reasons why such observance is practiced, things started to make more sense. Plus, the women that attend were at different places with Judaism and there were women who were converting. It was refreshing to have converts there (especially women of color). I found the retreat caused me to expand my mind. I knew as soon as I returned to my 'life' that I wouldn't radically change anything but what I learned there and was exposed to has stayed in my head. I question things like I haven't before and I've started making small changes towards a more fulfilling, spiritually enhanced life. The retreat was definitely an important and life changing step for the beginning of a spiritual awakening.
I spent 5 weeks of my summer amongst other woman and young adults who were also learning about their Jewish Heritage, some for the first time ever. The lead teacher, Rabbi Friedman was really phenomenal in the delivery of his lectures. Each lecture was filled with insight and knowledge, and was delivered interspersed with humor tidbits, making his lectures sound all the more so very exciting. Mostly everyone who attends the yearly retreat, feel empowered in their role of feminity and Jewishness. There are also a lot of fun acctivities, to help rejuvinate not just the mind, but also the body.
I have been listening to the Rabbi's lectures on CDs for several years and they have enriched my religious life, relationshps with friends, family and my self-esteem. I attended the retreat for adult women for the first time last summer and it absolutely enhanced my life. I am writing this 10 months later - the experience 'sticks' - it is not like a vacation to a retreat that is wonderful but resolutions end within the week of coming home. That is why I choose to support this organization financially. Rabbi Freidman has brilliant insight with individuals in addition to his reknown knowledge of Torah. He generously spoke with me one-to-one and profoundly changed my life. This is not said trivially. And it was before I made a financial committment to Bais Chana. Hinda Leah, who organizes and runs much of the programming, is one of the most sincere, kind, down to earth, intelligent, strong, competent and loving people I have ever met. She is a role model for women because she is so comfortable in her own skin. Just being around her enabled me to grow. One does NOT need to be observant to learn from her, and observant women can find in her a very strong role model for fulfilling many roles that are self-actualizing at the same time. Between the Rabbi and Hinda Leah - one can only grow in this environment. I also received wonderful warmth and friendship from Chaya Epstein who was teaching at BC last summer. Everyone there - including those not named - have one purpose - to help women self-actualize in a healthy environment. That is why I became a donor and plan to go to their retreats again.
I first came to Bais Chana almost thirty years ago and I can honestly say that my daily life has been altered ( for the better) ever since. BC helps an individual to see their role in the continuum of Jewish life and womanhood. It has been very validating to be exposed to such powerful role models as the instructors and past students.
The opportunity to be immersed in the total learning environment for a weekend, a week or a summer is not only stimulating, but tremendous fun!
My recent attendance at a four-day seminar was empowering in many ways. Being snowed-in for thirty six hours only enhanced the closeness to other participants and staff!
Attending Bais Chana 30 years ago was a transformative experience that altered my life in a totally positive way. It was stimulating, thought-provoking and provided me with a new paradigm in which to look at my life. Rabbi Manis Friedman told the truth without flinching or glossing it over. He held classes twice daily in which his students were literally mesmerized by his charismatic personality and depth of wisdom. Coming as a professionally-trained psychotherapist, I was amazed to discover that Rabbi Friedman knew more about the human personality and psyche than my most gifted instructors in graduate school. In addition, he held private audiences with his students. During my two sessions with him he was able to take apart and put my life back together again with uncanny skill. I will forever be grateful to Bais Chana for this. My peers were other young women who had the courage to challenge themselves and to embrace a set of spiritual teachings that provided new insights. The young women who served as counselors always found the time to help us each, one on one, to learn new tools and resources. Many of my best friends and my three daughters have all had the opportunity to benefit from this extraordinary learning experience.
Wow...where can I begin? if I had to describe in one word this organization and what it does for people, I would just say "AMAZING"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rabbi Manis friedman is unbelievable...I was put in touch with the organization at a time in my life I needed it the most. Rabbi Friedman gives classes on torah, life in general and judaism for young women, older women and couples and all jews...He takes the hardest subject and breaks it down for a 5 year old to understand...no one else can do this! you can listen to him for hours and never get enough...not only you learn but you open your eyes to things of life that change your life. I saw the most secular women become the most religious women thanks to him...and they love it!!!! I have grown and matured in the person that I am thanks to his teachings and advices. He is the best out there! Thank you bais chana!
Bais Chana was co-founded by Rabbi Manis Friedman. He is a truly gifted individual. He has the ability to bring lofty subjects to the simple minded. His passion and resolve to educate Jewish women and imbue them with wellsprings of Torah is truly an inspiration.A Jewish women is the symbol of Judaism, she blesses the home, her husband etc Its institutes like these that understands the importance in educating Jewish women and youth.Bais Chana gives all students the tools (Chassidus, Torah)to go out there and face the world and built a binyan ad e ad. Masiach now!!!!
Bais Chana is for all Jewish Women who are interested discovering the secrets for successful marriages, family and love.tried and true. I've been learning at Bais Chana for over 20 years. Bais Chana is filled with amazing teachers and the very best being Rabbi Manis Friedman. His insight into the female psyche is extraordinare. For example: ask: why do people change once they are married..answer: because they become related and we treat our relatives differently. and on and on. learning about my Jewishness with Bais Chana is always a life enhancing experience. I always walk away with life changing ( for the better) tidbits, I love it just as much at 50 as I did at 30. !!!
Offering spiritual awareness is one thing but doing so in a professional, organized and detail oriented manner while maintaining sensitivity and warmth is a consistent motto at Bais Chana. That just makes an annual event the ground work for wonders to unfold!
after having such a positive experience with my own teenage daughter going to a bais chana retreat we decided to get involved and help. the camaraderie and acceptance of both the counselors and other participants make a world of difference for the teens. i have seen numerous times girls stay up all night talking to help other girls.
First, I am an avid Manis Friedman fan - his writings and lectures never fail to inspire me. Furthermore, I have met a LARGE number of women that have gone through this program and every one of them has benefitted from it. It is a beautiful operation that focuses on acceptance and education, while being sensitive to peoples various needs and backgrounds. I hope they are able to continue their work for many long years!
After living in Brooklyn for a while, I wanted to attend a program to learn more about Judaism in a non-judgmental environment. I heard about Bais Chana from friends who went and loved it, no matter where they were holding in Judaism. When I contacted Bais Chana about attending a summer program, they were extremely helpful in setting up a low long-term payment plan so I could attend the program at all. I went in July-August 2008 and it was s great experience-everything I was looking for. The classes with Rabbi Manis Friedman were more than insightful-he answered questions that hadn't been resolved for years while I was learning about Judaism. His knowledge is vast and well-rounded. I asked for and received personal advice from him that still benefits me to this day. The administration was organized and helpful. Even the food was good! All in all, it was a great experience that was very beneficial for me.
Bais Chana has reached out to my very popular-culture teen in a way that engaged her and did not reject her superficial values, while helping her begin to consider the serious questions of life. For a teen who only wants to listen to MP3 music and be with her friends, this is a major accomplishment! Don't know how they do it.
Nothing I can say about Bais Chana can properly describe it's greatness. Bais Chana has something to offer everyone- I first attended a week-long program in Key Largo as a college student who knew next to nothing about Judaism. I continue to be blown away, years later, as a fully observant, married Jewish woman. I've even seen girls who grew up in religious homes be moved to tears. The classes are absolutely incredible, life-changing, and incomparable to any other organization I've ever experienced. I can't say enough good things about it. The learning, the nonjudgmental atmosphere, the FUN and adventure of it all. And the friendships! I still keep in touch with other girls and women that I've met at Bais Chana from around the world. I don't buy into things easily, but I would and do recommend Bais Chana to people all the time.
Bais Chana is a safe haven for Jewish women of all backgrounds and religious levels to join as one. Through daily organized scheduled classes, learning groups, and lectures, the study of numerous concepts comes alive. Rabbi Manis Friedman is captavatiing. His intellect and approach is mezmorizing. He constantly left me with a desire to hear more! The friendships and support that were created during my stay at Bais Chana will forever remain a treasure in my life.
It's impossible to categorize my relationship to Bais Chana. I have been participant, volunteer, and staff. Bais Chana women's program came into my life at a time when I was in need of a major emotional and spiritual boost. I was a new mother to three children under the age of four. An intense time in a young woman's life. Even with the most caring and supportive husband in the world, there is just no substitute for the energy and inspiration to be found in a group of women. Bais Chana nurtures the body, mind, and soul in a completely non-judgmental way. Participants are privileged to sample a variety of expert instructors and are really free to take what works and leave the rest. My strongest impression is that I came back to my community with ideas and inspiration that carried over into all aspects of my life. The people around me noticed my enriched and positive take on life and were themselves influenced to make positive changes. As they say, "Think global, act local." Bais Chana gave me the tools and relationships to change myself for the better and that has made it possible for me to better my family and my community.
Bais Chana inspires the mind and enriches the spirit. After attending classes I feel complete, elevated and clear on my mission in life. I am full of enthusiasm and energy to take on the world.
Bais Chana changed my life. I learned so much from Rabbi Manis Freedman and all the Rabbisens. They were all patient with us and helped us think critically.
Bais Chana is truly a life-changing program. It gives tools to woman who are looking to understand the world around them nonetheless find meaning and happiness within themselves. I walked away feeling proud to be a Jewish woman, one that can truly change the world and spread light and happiness to her surroundings.
Wonderful! It was so relaxing in a beautiful retreat center nestled in the woods, on a beautiful lake. The learning was second to none. With speakers like Manis Friedman and Sarah Karmely and many others, I walked away so fulfilled spiritually and intellectually. I met many wonderful women and forged lasting friendships. Oh, and did I mention the food was out of this world? Very fresh, very healthy and all organic. Lots of variety and very, very delicious! I'd definitely recommend any and all of Bais Chana programs to Jewish women and girls from all backgrounds; those who are just beginning to learn about their heritage to those of whom have grown up in a Torah observant home. The breadth and depth of learning will speak to the heart and soul of every woman. Yasher Koach (bravo!) Bais Chana Inernational!
Bais Chana brings knowledge of what it means to have a holy relationship with G-d. It empowers women to better understand the important role that all women play in Judaism.
Bais Chana is a unique educational program which caters to women of all backgrounds and walks of life. I found the atmosphere to be extremely open and refreshing, one in which every individual felt the freedom to express her experiences and perspectives in a completely non-judgmental environment. The scholars and teachers on the staff are professional and helpful, offering classes which cater to both the beginner and the advanced. An extremely high level of education coupled with a warm and vibrant community of women.
I thought the conference was great - I learned a lot and found the lecturers to be top-notch and there was nice cameraderie.
This year was my second year going to the Bais Chana Retreat, that says something because I can lose interest easily. They know how to reach out to Jewish women of all ages and empower them in their daily undertakings, and whatever we do in our community we do better after being in this retreat. I think I will go every spring to renew my spirit and knowledge.
I recommend this program for women who are passionate about learning about life through a Jewish perspective and would like to learn more about their Jewish Heritage. As a girl who grew up as the only Jew in her school, I found this to be very enlightening and a sense of belonging came over me as I was surrounded by other Jewish women my age.
Because of my family's financial status, I have never attended camp as a camper before. At age 17, Bais Chana gave me the opportunity to experience so much more than camp. Bais Chana opened my eyes to a new perspective on life and taught me so much about Judaism - my religion, that otherwise, I would never have learned. My camp experience was the best that I have ever had. Bais Chana is a life-changing experience. The counselors were a few years older than myself and incredibly thoughtful and attainable. I have had a fairly limited Jewish education and Bais Chana was a completely open and free environment where I felt completely comforetable to ask questions of all sorts. I still keep in touch with many of the counselors who have been eager to help me with various situations that I have had to deal with since camp. They are all so loving, kind, compassionate, deep-thinking individuals. Another thing thats valuable to mention (yet may be considered a little odd), the food I ate at Bais Chana, completely kosher, and probably the most amazing food I've ever eaten. I don't think I ever ate as many consecutavely well-prepared meals. I met girls that I have become very close friends with. Real people that are so unique and genuine - things I've never before had in a friend. It has almost been a year after my Bais Chana experience, and I talk to some girls on a daily basis. Girls that live in Florida, New York, California, Wisconsin - despite geographical differences we all have so much in common and so much to share. During the 3 week experience, a graphologist came to talk to us, individually and analyze our handwriting. I was very intrigued, but honestly not expecting to get much out of my session with the man. I was surprised that he took the time to talk to me for over half an hour discussing and identifying certain issues that I have been having. This experience was very valuable when I went home - it helped me better understand my father and our strained relationship. We stayed close to an Amish community which was picturesque and educational. The outings were wonderful and very thoughtful, including bicycling on a scenic trail, visiting a senior center, recovering a cemetary, and so much more. Bais Chana helped me develop a better relationship with myself, my mother and, and G-d. It's a truely beautiful experience - my statement is hardly giving it justice. Bais Chana also has weekend programs scattered throughout the year - I met amazing girls there aswell and was somehow able to bond intensely with the girls/counselors despite the fact that it was only for a few days. Rabbi Manis Friedman's classes are so refreshing, enlightening, life-changing. I still read my notes that I took from his classes and watch his classes online. He is truly a phenomenal instructor. I am truly privleged to have the chance to see his classes live and be a part of his discussions. He answered anonymous questions we placed in the question box which created a totally free environment to ask anything we want. If I could give this organization 10 stars, I truly would. I don't know who I would be if I hadn't gone to Bais Chana. This program saved my life.
Bais Chana helped me to understand the role of women in Judaism through interactive discussions and engaging lectures. In addition to making new friends and learning, I had the opportunity to go snorkeling in Key Largo, Florida.
I was blessed to be a part of this incredible organization for a weekend, as I witnessed the transformation of teenage girls struggling with issues of gender and family, so challenging during these pubescent years. We used dialogue, art and music to help each young girl find her voice as a unique and significant individual, an integral part of the whole: the framework of Jewish Family and Community Culture.
I attended Bais Chana's Snorkel and Study program in Florida and learned a ton about myself and my world. Bais Chana's goal seems to be to reach as many women as possible and give them the tools to seek healthy, happy relationships (whether in family, friendship or love). It was truly empowering to be in a room with over 100 women from all over the world, taking classes from morning til night and hearing all these womens' stories.
Bais Chana is a real eye-opener. People come from all walks of life: Some are searching for meaning and purpose in their lives; some are just curious about Judaism; some are seeking answers to important questions; some are looking to learn about what their own heritage has to offer; some just want to have fun. All gain an experience that is potentially life-altering. In an open and non-judgmental, non-confrontational way, Bais Chana tackles those all-important questions and brings insight into the human existence. The atmosphere is at once intellectual and down-to-earth. You'd be surprised to see every age participating - from 13 until 83 (and probably older!). There are also fun adventures like a snorkel trip, as well as beautiful natural surroundings and accommodations.
I had the privilege to participate in Baud Chana International's Snorkel and Study program this past winter. I was touched by the dedication of volunteers and teachers of the organization. Their unparalleled selflessness and zest for life was contagious and helped catapult me out of a depression that I had suffered from since the sudden tragic death of a close friend of mine. Since his death, I hadnot felt the true ability to open up. This trip harbored an environment where I could not only open up once again; but also felt fully comfortable expressing myself. I feel confident in saying that this organization deserves recognition as one that helps individuals and empowers women from all walks of life.
I went to a camp that Bais Chana runs, i had the oportunity to be in this program and it change my life it help woman to live a meaningful life, i found there people that really care about me, the best teachers, and the best friends.
A few years ago, a friend of mine was attending Bais Chana and she suggested I join her. I have since attended numerous programs. Bais Chana has shown me the absolute beauty that is uncovered in humanity when competition and pettiness are brushed away and are replaced with acceptance, empowerment, spirituality, and growth. Frequently I find myself quoting things I've learnt on a program to friends, family, and co-workers. I highly reccomend Bais Chana to any woman looking for a quality experience! Â
Snorkel and study is a terrific program where young women can discuss ideas, religion, family life, and many more important topics. The faculty were outstanding. They incorporated humor, sincerity, and warmth as they broached a variety of subjects: life, Torah, happiness, marriage, myths, and much more. Staff and faculty were available to teach or counsel students one-on-one.
Attending Bais Chana was an incredibly empowering experience. The program allowed me to have a greater understanding of my Jewish heritage, boost my overall self-awareness, and create meaningful and lasting relationships with other college-aged women. The teachers and educators were both knowledgeable and compassionate role models with strong sense of purpose and commitment. The topics we explored promoted positivity and values. I know that the one weekend I spent on Snorkel & Study will be forever enriching.
I have always had an interesting relationship with my Judaism and sometimes felt like I was clinging to the outskirts of each movement. I was dying for more education and to meet like-minded women. Along came Bais Chana. I am so thankful to have had the experience, which I couldn't have had without their scholarships. It has inspired me and empowered me and now I am pursing more Jewish education in the hopes of becoming an advocate for women in Judaism.
I love Bais Chana. My daughters found Bais Chana when they were in 9th and 10th grade. They have a difficult life as they both have Cystic Fibrosis and although we had been managing up until we found Bais Chana to lead good lives, positive lives, we needed more and we needed more answers. Bais Chana gave our whole family a new perspective, an invigorated perspective to carry on, to gather strength, to forge ahead and know that everything is as it should be and that G-d provides what we need. Since we found Bais Chana, my girls have grown into confident, happy, grounded, focused young women who know what they are supposed to do in life and when they have questions, they know where to find the answers. As a family, they have brought my husband and me along as well, and we have all grown and intensified the good relationship we have always had. We attend as many Bais Chana events as possible and always look forward to the strength and valuable life lessons they teach us. I cannot say enough good things about Bais Chana. Our lives would be completely different withouth this wonderful institution. Thank you G-d for helping us find them!!!!! And thanks for the online resources that we can use everyday!!!!
Deep, wise teachers, wonderful people, great accomodations and very relevant, life changing learning. I would spend a year taking it in and integrating it into my life.
excellent - the semimar was well organized - great/ inspirational/ nice people / good healthy food Organization that helps women from a variety of Jewish backgrounds. Speakers were varied in style and content - appealing to different people
Bais Chana is a Jewish, Chabad-Lubavitch program that runs retreats for teenage girls and women. I attended Jewish Un-Camp, the teenage program, and I visited a woman's retreat. All three of the experiences were hands down the most amazing, life changing, empowering experiences I have ever had. I arrived lost, confused and nervous, but after only a few minutes I had met girls of all ages that would turn out to be my closest friends. The weekend started with ice breakers to help us get to know one another better and get conversations flowing. We then went on to do amazing activities like improv games, art projects and zumba classes. All of the activities were a lot of fun, but I feel that there are two things that make Bais Chana so amazing: the people you meet, and the open, highly informative conversations you will have with Rabbi Manis Friedman. Every single teenager or woman will find amazing friendships at Bais Chana. Everyone accepts you for exactly who you are, regardless of your back round. You are Jewish, and that's what matters. I think a classic Bais Chana experience is having a deep, three hour conversation with someone you just met, and feeling like you have known them forever after just one day. The Rabbi's talks are equally amazing. One can ask any question that is on their mind, and they will know that they will get an honest, true answer that they can understand and apply to their lives. Teenagers can go and get an answer to any question they have, whether its a question from the Rabbi, a counselor, or another camper. The teenage years are a time when people are usually lost and searching. Bais Chana gives girls a solid idea of their purpose, who they are, and the direction they are meant to follow. As a result, the girls are more mentally, emotionally, and spiritually healthy when they return from the program. Most of them also return with a whole bunch of deep connections. They have strong connections with their new girlfriends, their counselors, and most importantly G-d, which I think is the ultimate goal of a religious program. Every single Jewish woman should go to Bais Chana.
I went to Bais Chana for the first time 4 years ago. There were classes for women from different backrounds. The classes were great and I left the seminar with a new approach to life, to religion, family etc.. I came back several times after that, including some times with my husband and on one ocasion with my daughter
