Target demographics: dogs living chained or penned for life.
Direct beneficiaries per year: thousands of chained and penned dogs.
Geographic areas served: the U.S. and abroad
Programs: rescue and rehabilitation of chained dogs, educational programs to include a Have a Heart for Chained Dogs campaign, mailing campaigns to households that have dogs outside, grassroots legislative efforts, activist campaigns such as Chain Off and protests of hoarding situations, and Hero Fund Vet Care Grants for rescuers and the chained dogs they help.

We can never say thank you enough to Dogs Deserve Better, Inc. as receiving the Hero Grant helped us not only be able to save Diamond from a life outside in a small pen to a wonderful happy inside home, but financially enabled us to save even more. DDB is an incredible organization who goes above and beyond to help.

WOW.....Dogs Deserve Better helped us so very much. We rescued a boxer who not only needed spay, but had a small tumor to be removed and sent off, and she was hw positive. Their contribution made her vetting possible....we cannot that them enough!

Wagon is one of many dogs that the American Lurcher Project has rescued from living outside on chains since August 20, 2013. The ALP Team is a group of people dedicated to saving the greyhound/coonhound racing dogs of underground racing. When we rescued Wagon in May of this year he was in poor physical shape and is still undergoing medical treatment to get him healthy and ready for adoption. Our vet bills and expenses were over $1,400 on Wagon. Thank you so very much Dogs Deserve Better for coming to the rescue and awarding us a grant to assist us with Wagon’s vet bills. Dogs Deserve Better responded very quickly to our urgent request and were very helpful. What a wonderful group of people and a wonderful mission!!!!

I am the Executive President of AnimaNaturalis Peru and I am glad to write a comment about Dogs Deserve Better. Thanks to their help, we were able to rescue two dogs from a life of misery and suffering in Lima, Peru. The two of them were left tied to a post in front of the house that once was theirs. Thanks to the grant provided by DDB, we were able to rescue, spay and neuter, pay for vet bills and place them in new homes. Without their help our job could had been much more difficult.
My students and I are also involved in their wonderful project "Valentines for Chained Dogs" and we are proud to help them in their endeavors to help needy animals.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would not change anything. They are doing a great job in their area of expertise.
