Location: 1829 7th Street Parkersburg WV 26101 USA

Mission: Mission Statement The Veteran’s Museum of the Mid-Ohio Valley is a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve, promote, and protect the legacy and dignity of our West Virginia veterans through public displays. Furthermore, we are here to educate the public, especially our youth, to teach of the sacrifices made by the men and women of our Armed Forces. Purpose The purpose of the Veteran’s Museum of the Mid-Ohio Valley is to focus first on Veterans of the United States military that fought in all wars from World War I to the present. The museum will be both educational and to remind visitors of the past military history of this country and what the men and women in the military service have done to keep the United States a free nation, and to help promote tourism in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

I build the Wall of Honor for the museum. Help set up displays. Greeted vistors and gave tours. Interviewed veterans from WWII

More Feedback

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Giving tours to visitors

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Enlarge the building, more audio visual equipment

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

How thankful the veterans are that this museum is here for them.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very helpful

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Enlarge it's display area, library and have a midia room

Ways to make it better...

Had the museum been able to show more items that are in storage.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Month to month expenses

One thing I'd also say is that...

The staff works long hours to make this museum a show place for Parkersburg.

A very good display for such a small museum, knowledgeable docents enrich the experience. Respectful use of donated materials. Good recognition of all Veterans.

the stories being told to families by service members while viewing the display

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Enlarge the museum

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

easy to park, low to no cost, just donation.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

interested in what they do and try to help all who visit

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Build a larger Museum that could display all items available. Provide a venue to honor the Veterans of the region is a manner they deserve. Demonstrate the pride the regions has in their vets and provide a venue to unify other veterans organizations.

Ways to make it better...

the museum was able to display all their material. Size constraints require that much of the potential display is kept in storage.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

maintaining the quality within their available finances

One thing I'd also say is that...

Through the hard work and sweat of a couple of people this museum provides a quality display and honorable display for the regions vets. The individual stories make the displays real and relevant to locals as well as visitors.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every six months
