The mission of United Way St. Croix Valley is to unite communities, focus resources and inspire people to measurably improve lives in Western Wisconsin. The New Richmond area, as far back as the 1940''s, conducted a Community Chest campaign and later a United Fund Drive. In 1980, there was a reorganization and incorporation as the New Richmond Area United Way. Other communities were added and in 1991 the name became Greater St. Croix County United Way. The Hudson Area United Way was founded in December 1974 to serve Hudson and the surrounding townships. A countywide United Way became a reality when the two groups merged in 1999. United Way of St. Croix County, Inc. broadened its focus from a traditional fundraising role to providing greater leadership in building strong and healthy communities. In July 2006, United Way of St. Croix County, expanded its service area, and merged with the United Way of Rivers Falls, forming United Way St. Croix Valley. Polk County was added to our service area in July, 2010. We serve communities thoughout Western Wisconsin.
United Way St. Croix Valley funds oprograms of over seventy local nonprofit health, human service and educational organizations. A fundraising campaign is conducted each fall. United Way analyzes community needs and develops a Community Impact agenda. Funds are distributed to nonprofit agencies that meet our Impact goals.
