Synergy Services, Inc. Overview
Shelter: Synergy provides residential shelter to 35+ women and children who are fleeing domestic violence at its SafeHaven Domestic Violence shelter located in Clay County. The client-centered program provides a secure attractive environment, twenty-four hour emergency hotline and awake staff, mental health counseling by licensed therapists, case-management, employment readiness training, parenting support, recreational activities, two prepared meals per day, and clothing. Over the past year Synergy has participated in the Lethality Assessment Program with the Kansas City Police Department and other domestic violence agencies. Toward that end, the agency has agreed to accept any victim of domestic violence and her children who are determined to be in high lethality and at danger for being killed whether full or not. Therefore, SafeHaven has been running at 115+ capacity and the clinical out-patient department has a 3 month waiting list.
The following goals and actual outcomes were achieved in FY2009:
· 90% of women in shelter will receive adequateinformation, resources and referrals to empower themselves to make good safetychoices for themselves and their children. Actual: 91%
· 95% of women will indicate that they feel saferwhile in shelter. Actual: 98%
