This charity should have a 10 year audit to show / reveal how they misused funds. No search of property records can relate what insiders in the Brevard County real estate industry knew all along - H4H Brevard was slightly corrupt. The president at the time, Joe G, brokered terrible deals in the mid 2000's. At that time, the charity would compete head on for overpriced land deals that would stay on the books for years to come. They have pretty much filtered the worst of these deals out of the system through their ownership program - so they no longer show up (Carol). Also, during the stuggles of the last bad economy, the leaders continued to pay themselves a pretty high salary.

Habitat for Humanity of Brevard is incredible. Their exceptional finanacial management has given them a 4-star rating with Charity Navigator for the last 3 consecutive years. They are #2 on the 'Top 10 Charities Worth Watching". Their officers get nominal salaries (see the public records at http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=10688 ). Working on these homes has been a deeply satisfying experience; one of most meaningful of my life.

I checked out the Brevard Property Appraiser Web site and found out that Blautman is an idiot. HFHBC owns property that was almost all donated and almost all far more recently that 2005. Blautman needs to learn how to read the Web site information before he or she starts insulting a truly worthwhile and trustworthy organization like HFHBC.

This branch of HFH is wasteful to the point of almost corrupt. The prices they paid for property during the real estate boom were way above market. Anyone can look at land they purchased on the Brevard County Property Appraisers website; search real estate records by Habitat for Humanity and look at the purchase price paid for vacant land. I wonder if they were guiding their office to purchase friends properties at inflated prices. Today the organization is strapped for funds and holds of bunch of land worth 1/4 or less of the investment. Had they managed the funds more prudently they could be helping people today instead of just being able to pay their own salaries.
