PAWS is an all volunteer organization chartered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1979. PAWS saves lives and prevents suffering by implementing the no-kill philosophy through aggressive spay/neuter programs, for owned and unowned animals; by rescuing, fostering and seeking permanent homes for endangered dogs and cats; and by raising awareness of the plight of homeless animals.
Programs: Provides low-cost spaying and neutering to thousands of dogs and cats in central Pennsylvania every year. Educates people on the health and behavior benefits of spay/neuter. Provides information about the best way to acquire your next pet. Helps pet owners learn how to keep their pets happy and healthy. Gives advice on pet behavior problems. Provides "kindness" (live) traps to the public to help them decrease the stray animal population in their neighborhoods and to rescue lost pets who are too confused to come home. Provides lost and found pet information. Supports legislation that protects pets and their owners. Provides straw for bedding for pets that are kept outside.
