At first I found it hard to believe that there was someone willing to start up a charity that offers a blue water fishing experience as R & R for current and veteran soldiers, but it turns out to be true. This is a truly staggering undertaking when all the costs and time dedication that this will take to succeed are considered. The experience offered here to a soldier who likely would never in his life have a chance to hook a blue marlin or other big game is going to give him/her something to remember for the rest of their lives. And if they re-deploy then something fantastic to reminisce about and tell their fellow soldiers. Talk about a 'Thank you' to the troops! The recent tragedy in Fort Hood is a reminder to us all that combat veterans need time away, time to let their minds relax and time to think of other things... and hooking up to a blue marlin will do that like nothing else! This charity needs money and exposure, what Saltwater Soldiers is doing is unique and it will take effort to convince the donating public that there really is someone going this far to provide some extraordinary R & R to our soldiers, sailors and airmen.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

provide once in a lifetime experiences to untold numbers of current and veteran soldiers, provide them with a day off like no other, one they richly deserve for the sacrifices they have made.

I am the founder and president of Saltwater Soldiers Inc. Due to past and recent tragedies and the potential for future incidences involving soldiers and veterans in distress desperatelty looking for help, we need to work diligently to provide the proper activities, counseling, rehabilitation, and treatment for our American Heroes returning home and our current veterans already at home. We raise awareness for the soldiers, wounded soldiers, veterans, and their families in their times of need and regarding the difficulties that they face here at home and on duty overseas. Saltwater Soldiers Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization providing services to wounded soldiers, military personnel, veterans, and their families. We provide offshore fishing trips and financial aid in an effort to thank our American Heroes for their service, sacrifices, and dedication to our country and our freedom. We are based in Northern Virginia and operate up and down the East Coast of the US with an entirely volunteer staff. As a 100% pass-through non-profit organization we ensure that every penny flows through to directly benefit our American Heroes and their families. All of our services are provided free of charge and we strive to provide a venue for the wounded soldiers, soldiers, and veterans, some returning from duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, that allows them to cope with the many issues that they are facing as they return home. Many are dealing with stress and trauma and have very little support from our government and military agencies to help make the transition back into society at home easier. We try to give them all the “Thank you they deserve” and keep them away from the detrimental alternatives of alcohol, drugs, and violence. Given the recent occurrences on the news we feel that our services are imperative to their mental and physical wellbeing in general. I personally am involved at all levels and have been on almost every fishing trip with the soldiers, veterans, and their families over our brief history as a non-profit organization. Although this organization is in memory of my late grandfather, it is a testimony to the sacrifice, service, and dedication of our American Heroes and a refreshing change from the normal non-profit organization in the US. We strive to maek every relationship a win/win proposition and to ensure that every donation goes to truely help our American Heroes and their families. There are no words to express the benefits of our services and the personal reward that comes from giving to and helping others. Please feel free to view our website at www.SaltwaterSoldiers.org at your convenience to learn more about our organization, our mission, and our services for our American Heroes and their families. In addition, pleasefeel free to contact me with any additional information you would like from us in order to consider assisting us in our efforts. We appreciate any and all support as we try to provide the “thank you our American Heroes deserve” and positive venues for their rehabilitation and adjustment back into society here at home in the US.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have personally been involved with every aspect of this organization as the founder and President. I also provided the first and currently the only boat for Saltwater Soldiers Inc.and have participated in almost all fishing trips.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The change that can be sen on the faces of our American heroes when they experience the fishing trips. It's almost as if they have had a truck lifted oiff their back and can finally take a breath of fresh air, releave stress, and actually relax.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

They are all great and give their time, money, and help for all the right reasons. They all truely care about our American Heroes and their families.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Make the biggest difference in so many lives. The fact that we operate on an entirely volunteer basis ensures that every dollar goes to truely help our soldiers, veterans, and their families.
