The reality is expect to be treated disrespectfully by some. One employee in particular whose first name begins with e yelled at the top of her lungs and threatened to hit someone. This is ironic considering the motto of non violence there. She routinely practiced favrotism and one night had a clients child behind in the employee station braiding her hair. I do agree that some employees are rude and openly insult clients but i thought this applied to some counselors at times. The clients are something else themselves. There are people addicted to drugs food etc. Some even have mental health issues. Dont leave anything that you dont wa n t stolen because i did have something taken. Some dont do chores and this makes environment unsanitary a nd harder for the next s cheduled person. There is th e feelin g that after so long of being there you are herded out asap like cattle going to s laughter. The environment can be toxic . Go to appts a nd take all advice given otherwise you will get targeted for quick exit. Fort worth office

I was a client of SafeHaven. My experience with SafeHaven was great! I am able to achieve my Nursing goal thanks to them. They are very supportive and have helped more than they can imagine. The staff there is wonderful. The place is very safe and they provide many resources to help the client be successful in living a violence free life. They understand the struggles the clients face and help them overcome them. Thank you SafeHaven for all you do!

I admire the transparency of this company and the length everyone who comes into contact with the clients to ensure that their needs are met. I am proud to be apart of an organization that makes clear and distinct strides to assist all those involved in domestic violence.

I pray for a time when SafeHaven isn't needed. These days, however, SafeHaven is a necessary part of our community and they do an amazing job to provide a safe place for domestic violence victims and children. They are life-savers... literally!

I am a 12 year volunteer who helps with the Preventive Services programs and Resource Fairs hosted by SafeHaven. My role is to educate schools, church and civic groups, as well as the general public, about SafeHaven and the beneficial work they do aiding women (and their children) who are victims of domestic abuse. I also explain what domestic violence is, how to recognize it, and what individuals can do to help a victim and the agency. Meeting a former victim is very rewarding to me as it varifies the importance of SafeHaven in our society.

I lost two friends & three of their relatives to domestic violence on July 23, 2011, which led me to volunteer at SafeHaven. I only wish I had known more about this organization prior to that date. I have observed the staff working with the women & children housed at SafeHaven and am in awe of their professionalism and the opportunities afforded there. Many women & children have passed through there during my short tenure as a volunteer & I've observed each one is given individual attention & care.

From someone who comes from a family that’s dealt with being victims of a violent crime, along with personally working with shelters in the past, words can’t explain the importance of having a place willing to open its doors to help. To have a place such as this for families in need of assistance after suffering through a traumatic experience is invaluable. The shock, worry and stress that crime victims go through can create a heavy burden, sometimes too heavy to deal with alone. Having a shelter willing and available to help can relieve some of the burden and can also help the victims pick up the pieces and start down the road to recovery, knowing they are not alone on the journey. Just as important are the ones associated with the shelter who dedicate their lives to lending a helping hand. They are greatly appreciated for their hard work and open hearts and can never be properly rewarded for the positive impact they make during a difficult time. It is vital for those who provide the help to receive the help they need to continue making a difference and providing a future for those who felt that all was lost.

I've been a volunteer for SafeHaven for a couple of years now and I love it. The staff there, while they're busy attending to the needs of the families in the shelter still take time to make you feel like a part of their "family." It's a pleasure volunteering my time for an organization that offers a second chance to women who might feel they have no future alone without their husband/boyfriend. They truly empower them and as a volunteer it's fantastic being able to see the change in the women's attitudes, right before my eyes!

I have worked with many nonprofits both locally, and nationally in many capacities over the past 30 years. I am very aware of SafeHaven, and am always impressed with their transparency, their efforts to fulfill their mission, and their responsible use of funds. They should receive the highest possible ratings in every category, and as a lawyer who has represented nonprofits throughout this country for many years, I can say that SafeHaven should be used as a standard for other nonprofits.

I am a volunteer at SafeHaven because I care about the women and children who are sheltered there. When I volunteer, I definitely have the feeling that the staff feels and thinks the same way. They are so caring to these children, while trying to set a positive environment for the mothers. They not only provide shelter, they also teach and counsel the mothers so that they can go out into the world with hope for a better future.
