The Ruffian Foundation is a hard working group of special people with the common goal of providing a safe haven for feral cats. This non-profit has created a great facility that is currently home to 70 cats.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing the cats, fed, neutered, vaccinated and safe.

i created the ruffian foundation in 2004 to rescue some of the local feral cats in danger of starvation, injury, or death due to rapid economic development and human neglect. we now care for over 70 ferals (altered and vaccinated)on 28 wooded acres in NC. this sanctuary fulfills an urgent need to give these cats a safe refuge.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

every day i see or hear about the desperate plight of so many feral cats and the concerns of the community regarding their overpopulation problems, health, and humane treatment. this sanctuary has been able to address these needs since it opened in 11/08

There's nothing better in this world than knowing that you've truly made a difference, and alleviated the suffering of endangered animals. Volunteering at the cat sanctuary really makes a difference - I go home feeling exhausted and floating on air! I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the number of animals saved from death or lives of suffering.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

none

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

compassionate, dedicated, and innovative.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

save a million more little lives!

Ways to make it better...

the weather hadn't been so hot.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

finding enough funding and volunteers who stick around for the long haul.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Always a cat lover, I am delighted to belong to an organization that cares for cats who would otherwise perish. I enjoy working with the other cat lovers during our events and interacting with the public most of whom are also feline aficionados. We share our cat stories. I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

people in our own community are very happy we are saving + helping these defenseless animals, and this makes me feel good about myself.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

feel a part of the community and helping these poor cats.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

knowledgable, kind, friendly, helpful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand our facilities to save many, many more feral cats.

It's taken a while for the organization to get up and running. With more donations we could do a lot more for feral cats.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

by seeing cats safe that would have not made it if left in the area where they were found. Older feral cats living out the rest of their lives being cared for, not in danger with food and shelter available everyday

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

put up more building for our cats and pay and hire more caretakers
