Mission: The mission of rappahannock casa is to advocate for abused and neglected children to grow up in safe permanent homes where they have the opportunity to thrive.
Programs: The primary program is to train and support volunteers who are appointed by the courts to advocate for abused and neglected children in court matters. During the fiscal year ended june 30, 2017, the organization had 62 volunteers (including board members) who contributed 5,857 hours in support of 184 children. Volunteers and/or staff attended 198 court hearings. Volunteers submitted court reports in 141 hearings. The court considered 63% of the recommendations made by the casa, and incorporated 94% of those into their court orders and rejected 6%. (of all the recommendations we made, including those not considered, judges incorporated 60%).
