Reviews for Pusong Pinoy (Heart of a Filipino)

Pusong Pinoy (PP) has definitely been a life changer, and it has given me the opportunity to use my talents and abilities to give back. I have worked with PP for about a year now, and as a Junior Team Leader, I have had the pleasure to organize a book drive, and collect books and monetary donations from my community. This cause is truly amazing, helping thousands of children in the Philippines to become educated to change their futures. Pusong Pinoy has made a positive impact on my community, and has taught me how to be a leader and how to give back effectively.

It was truly humbling how the founder, Donna Rosario, started this mission with her children in her own home. Her sons thought about donating their slightly-used books to the unfortunate kids in the Philippines and the rest is history.

From then on, I introduced my children to her and showed them that even though they're not adults yet, they can still make a difference by trying to promote literacy to those children in need, just by collecting books that they don't use anymore. My oldest, Christian became very inspired himself and promoted book collection in his high school and was successful enough to have collected a total of 4,000 books from his school alone and another 1,500 from friends, family and the community. He additionally sponsored a scholar in La Sale Lipa's Damascus Foundation through his social movement, KUYA. It's a rewarding gesture most especially for the children and youth because they can feel good about themselves that even if they're still young, they can play an important part in the society.

Because of this experience, my children learned the importance of giving and helping to their capacity. They will carry this throughout their lives.

Volunteers are not paid with money but enjoy and take pride in what they do to help their cause. Unlike other organizations, Pusong pinoy.org gives importance to both donors and recipients. Donors become more engaged because of this. Highly recommended. If you want to make a difference, however small the help may be, consider giving to this non profit. They welcome donations of kids story books.

Pusong Pinoy has been so good to us. When we are in America, they are there to encourage us, to make us feel welcome, and to seek us out asking what they can contribute to help us bring literacy to the orphans in our care. When we are in the Philippines they've repeatedly blessed our Kids with books, school supplies and a desire to read. Pusong Pinoy is a shining example of a grassroots organization changing lives by meeting people where they, donor or client. We have in turn introduced several schools and NGOs to the programs offered by Pusong Pinoy
