PROVIDENCE HOUSE INC Overview
Geographic areas served: Greater Cleveland Area
Programs: The Providence House Crisis Intervention and Family Preservation Program offers a holistic and integrated model of crisis care, focused on protecting at-risk children, empowering fragile families, and building safer communities for every child - all of which are essential if we are going to stop the epidemic of child abuse and stem the flow of fractured families and children in our community. We believe that the Providence House Crisis Intervention and Family Preservation Program is an innovative and proven solution for families in crisis and presents a new paradigm for family intervention, preservation, and permanency for both our local community and the entire nation.
The Providence House Crisis Intervention and Family Preservation Program is a Crisis Intervention and Abuse/Neglect Prevention Model which blends Family Preservation services and supports to stabilize the whole family. Our program begins with round-the-clock services and an immediate safe housing solution for infants and children - newborn through age 10, in situations where they are at risk of abuse or neglect. At Providence House children find a safe haven in a home-like setting, before abuse or neglect occur, while we work with partner community organizations to stabilize family crisis, improve parenting skills, and preserve the family or find alternative long-term care for the children.
The Providence House Program is our community’s only free, voluntary, non-custodial program designed to protect at-risk children in emergency shelter when parents are not able to care for them due to crisis situations. Children may stay from 24 hours up to 60 days, with extensions to 90 days available to support parents who are receiving inpatient treatments, who are incarcerated, or who are medically incapacitated. Throughout a child’s stay, the Crisis Intervention and Family Preservation Program offers a range of case management and supportive services to both children and their families, with a goal to stabilize, strengthen, and preserve each fragile family in our care.
The Providence House Crisis Intervention and Family Preservation Program offers every child and family in our crisis nursery an integrated model of crisis care, constructed in five service delivery paths:
Children’s Emergency Shelter
Children’s Direct Care and Services
Child and Family Case Management
Family Preservation and Education
Each of our five service areas provides protection, prevention, and preservation services that are critical in the successful preservation of families and lays a solid foundation for healing to begin for both the child and their family.
