Habitat for Humanity Peninsula was established in 1985 as one of the early Habitat International affiliates. Since then, over 100 homes have been built on the Peninsula and more than 250 children can play in their own yards. Habitat for Humanity holds the zero-interest mortgages on the homes it has built. These monthly mortgage monies are recycled to build more homes on the Virginia Peninsula. A Habitat house is a lasting legacy to the home owner and to the community.
Habitat for Humanity builds safe, decent affordable houses.

Reviews for Peninsula Habitat For Humanity, Inc.
The Habitat foe Humanity ReStore in Williamsburg is a terrific place that is making a valuable contribution to the community.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the extremely positive environment that has been created in the new Restore in Williamsburg. The customers that are both donating items and purchasing items are very enthusiastic about the Habitat store. The customers are consistently expressing an opinion of both benefiting from the opening of the new store as well as contributing to the Habitat for Humanity organization.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
attempt to encourage more volunteers to help the organization. There is a tremendous amount of work that needs to be done. Williamsburg has lots of great charitiable organizations that compete for volunteers which makes it difficult to obtain all of the volunteer time needed.

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?
The ReStore in Williamsburg needs better tools and equipment to maximize the skills of the volunteers. I would allocate a small additional amount of funding towards acquiring additional supplies and tools that would allow the Store to be even more effective.
Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
An extremely positive experience for me.. I have meet many volunteers and customers that continuously express their "thanks" to me for volunteering and for help9ing make the ReStore effective for them.
