Mission: OGA's mission is to promote and motivate character, fitness, and health in the lives of our athletes, employees, and community through the sport of gymnastics. Dedicated to developing youth, OGA aims to include all interested individuals, regardless of age, cognitive and physical ability, and/or financial situation. All members are called upon to give to our community through their sport, volunteerism, financial support, and/or the Josephson Institue''s "Character Counts" program. In addition, OGA as an organization gives back to the community by providing a unique and special place for those in need to experience physical education through the sport of gymnastics. OGA offers personalized special needs classes, member grants and tuition assistance, as well as an off site outreach program, enabling all individuals to reach their full potential by learning, achieving goals, and enjoying the sport of gymnastics.
Target demographics: children of all ages
Direct beneficiaries per year: 20 families through our tuition assistance, and over 300 at-risk youth through our Outreach Program
Geographic areas served: Oregon - Washington County, west Multnomah County
Programs: recreational pre-school and school age gymnastics classes, day camps, open gyms, parents night outs, and programming designed specifically for children with special needs. We believe children will receive the best gymnastics education in a safe and positive environment. Offering safe, high quality programs is a top priority for our organization. OGA's Board of Directors has determined that quality is not measured by the medals won in any competition, but by creating an environment that allows each individual athlete to achieve his/her highest potential within their sport, while also instilling and developing life-long skills that contribute to health, wellness, and character. In the past 4 years, OGA has expanded our special needs programming to reach over 100 families annually, and has launched our Community Outreach Program to serve at-risk youth in Title 1 Schools. We look forward to expanding these programs more in 2015.

Our family is affiliated with OGA for a long time. We are pleased by the educational training standards of the staff and the variety of classes they offer, from little kids to competitive athletes.
They offer PNOs , birthday parties, summer camps etc. So there is something for everybody.
OGA is also committed to the community in sponsoring PNOs for school events and organizing special Olympic events.

It is a great place to introduce your child to a fun and teaching skills you can utilize in any sport.

OGA is a terrific gymanstics facility. My 4 year old daughter has been taking classes for about a year now and I am amazed to see her progress! The coaches are friendly, yet keep the kids attentive and on task. I would reccommend this gym to anyone with children interested to learn this great sport.

We have been affiliated with OGA for the past nine or so years. My daughters started in the OGA recreational program and are currently on the artistic team. I have served on the board of directors for the past two years. We are proud members of OGA, not just because of the strong coaching that our children receive, but because we believe so strongly in it's mission. We are proud of OGA's focus on serving the community through the All Star program that provides an option for children with special needs. We have thoroughly enjoyed helping when our gym hosts the Special Olympics gymnastics competition. We support the Character Counts program that is not just an annual event but a year-round focus. There is a focus on the team on being a team and supporting one another, not on only achieving individual athletic goals. We are confident that our children are becoming better athletes and better people because they are at OGA.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

...watching my children become better athletes and better people. Seeing them bond with their teammates and coaches.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I absolutely love OGA. Since I moved there 3 years ago, the people I've met have become my second family, and the gym my second home. Every staff member, volunteer and gymnast create a great atmosphere. Whether you're five, fifteen, whatever age, you will love this gym.

We have only been part of the OGA team for a couple of years, but they have made us feel like we have been there since the beginning. Everyone at OGA is really nice and welcoming. On top of that, OGA has the best coaches and equipment in Portland.

We are very happy to be a part of OGA.

The one change I would make is make the gym larger.
