Location: 1607 Cromwell Bridge Rd Baltimore MD 21234 USA

Mission: Nehemiah House, Inc., was founded in 1991 by Bart Pierce, national speaker, church leader and author of the book "Seeking Our Brothers", "The Bribe", and "Cover Me In The Day of Battle." The organization grew out of the need to assist homeless men in Baltimore County because no other agency was aiding adult homeless men. Nehemiah House, Inc. took on the task of aiding men coming out of prison, off the streets, out of hospitals, or men who just hit hard times financially and needed a hand up in their lives. Rev. Pierce, who at one time was homeless in his youth and whose parents died when he was young, was requested to start this facility by a local official. In 2007, we have now served the community for over 15 years. We continue to assist men with housing, and various supportive services. We believe that if you teach a person how to fish instead of always giving them a fish, then they can become a success and break the cycle of not having what he needs for his life.

As a current member of the armed forces it was great to come in and teach a class about achieving goals to homeless veterans in need. The atmosphere was great and it is good to see so many caring people on staff. I was impressed from the caring I saw.

Nehemiah House assist men everyday with food, clothes, and so much more. It has been a pleasure to work with them and watch as they help men in Baltimore County.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

helping them to find donations and then give them to the men in need. I also invite some of the men to my house for cookouts or to just talk.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

upgrade its current building and get more staff to better serve the clients. Also send the current staff to various leadership, management and training courses.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

They genuinely care and are committed to their mission

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

kind, caring, friendly, interested in seeing the men succeed

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

fix current building, buy new equipment and furniture, expand its services to build a new facility in Baltimore City, duplicate its program in other states, create an endowment, start an entreprenurial program for the homeless.

Ways to make it better...

I can give them a large check to help them do more.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

financial needs, staff needs to be trained, the continued issues of an ever changing population to include frail homeless seniors and homeless veterans.

One thing I'd also say is that...

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

One time
