Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Cancer, Health, Pediatrics, Philanthropy, Public Foundations

Mission: Our Mission at Mikey’s Way Foundation is to enrich the lives of children with cancer and other life threatening conditions. The Foundation strives to create CONNECTION and DIVERSION to help children face the emotional and physical hardships of long term, debilitating treatment.

Results: The Foundation has helped over 4,800 children get connected since 2005.

Target demographics: The foundation helps children cope with the isolation, boredom and fear associated with life-threatening illnesses. It is the goal of the foundation to be able to connect every child with their friends, family and school, enabling them to cope with the long hours, days and weeks of separation that they must endure. In creating a connection, we are in turn presenting the child with a form of diversion. This diversion is a necessary element to the Mind-Body connection. Continued studies have shown that when the mind is stimulated and engaged, the body can respond in positive ways—more tolerable nausea, lower fever, higher blood counts and a more relaxed patient. This holds great importance for our seriously ill children. Our “Mikey’s Way Connection Cart” circles the pediatric floors of the hospitals we serve, giving away all forms of electronics that permit the child to create their own diversion and thus allow for the Mind-Body connection. Every child is allowed to choose the item that they feel will work best for them.

Direct beneficiaries per year: In 2015 we had 21 hospital visits, and served 471 patients. By the end of 2016 we will have visited 22 hospitals, and served over 600 patients

Geographic areas served: Children's Hospitals across the country

Programs: Purchased electronics for hospitalized pediatric cancer and chronically ill children in order to improve the hospital entertainment facilities for the hospitals that treat such children nationwide.

I can't really put into words the happiness Mike's Foundation brings to my 14 year old son when he's in the hospital fighting for his life. It takes his mind away from pain. The gifts are just phenomenal. Please consider donating to this wonderful foundation so they can keep spreading joy and happiness where is needed the most.

Mikey's Way is an amazing foundation. Being a cancer survivor myself, going through long hours and days of chemotherapy as an adult was difficult enough- I many times found myself bored and then my mind would race back and forth thinking about all of the treatments I was going through. - not to mention the loneliness that I dealt with. Now- as I think of all of the children going through this terrible treatment, I can not even imagine how lonely and scary it must be for them. Mikey's way has brought smiles to the faces of so many children across multiple hospitals. This foundation is a beautiful way for these children to feel special, cared about, and loved. The electronics connect the children to their family and friends and allow them to escape the thought of their treatment. This idea is brilliant, as a happier child leads to a better, fast recovery. Uplifting children is what Mikey's way is all about.

I've been a Mikey's Way supporter for many years and know the direct impact this foundation has on the lives of children. Knowing that these electronic devices help children stay connected to their friends and/or alleviates some of the fear, stress, boredom or pain they experience compels me to continue supporting this organization. The families of these children are also overwhelmed with fear, exhaustion...and knowing that other people care so deeply about their children gives them the lift they so desperately need.

Mikey's Way helps children when they need it the most - in the moment of care. Through the gifts of Mikey's Way, kids are provided with a much needed diversion from the monotony of treatments, as well as a way to stay connected to their friends and family.
