MOCSA Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault Overview
MOCSA provides the full spectrum of specialized treatment to children, youth and adults. Treatment is provided for children who are victims of sexual abuse, their non-offending parents and siblings and other members of the household. Evidence-based therapies, along with play, art and sensory-based therapy, are used by licensed therapists to provide a way for children to express their thoughts and emotions. Treatment and support programs promote healing from child sexual abuse and help to break the cycle of abuse. Special programming was developed to address increasing incidents of children inappropriately acting out sexually. The causes for sexually reactive behavior are complex and require special assessment and treatment methods. Within the spectrum of treatment, MOCSA also provides services for adult survivors of child sexual abuse through individual and group counseling and the MIST (Mapping Individual Solutions for Trauma) program is a community based project reaching out to under-served populations. Programming is also provided for juvenile and court-ordered adult sex offenders.
