Mercy heart is a christ-centered ministry of intervention through the local church, designed to move at-risk families and children of inmates in the crisis of incarceration towards spiritual, relational, and material transformation.

Mercy heart is a place where christian love, understanding, and acceptance are given to those deeply hurt by incarceration. Provided weekly encounter group format where family members as well as returning inmates can work safely through the life-changing transition of incarceration to release. In the past year, 3 new programs were initiated in texas cities, bringing the total number of chapel programs to 12. The organization also engages 10 north texas prison units per year to participate in a one day in-prison event, legacy day, that brings families together to begin the process of restoration, reconciliation and re-entry. At the end of the fiscal year, 8-10 events were scheduled.

i was recruited to help addiction recovery efforts.6 yr AA veteran. I assist in small groups leadership and prayer. i share what strength and hope and fears i have and how i overcome through my walk with God. celebrate recovery is used as a loose framework.more strict adherence to the framework and study would be beneficial.signage at the church ,exterior, to promote this ministry as addiction recovery/Thursdays may help increse attendance.a more formal hierachy of sponsorship could be investigated..love the meal before although i never partake its a good bonding and integrating of offenders into a family setting. this program meshes with a stronger AA for my sobriety.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

christamas gifts and parties for families of inmates , support and hope for ex offenders and their familes ,work in side prisons to offer hope and prayer and a spiritual answer to life in prison ,recovery stories from addicts

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

analyze the name tag situation and its function more community outreach and outside functions(picnic, bounce house)
