Mission:
The mission of the Mental Health Association of Dade County, Inc. is to work for Americas mental health and victory over mental illness. In Dade County, we recognize the importance of providing quality mental health services to our diverse populations in our multi-ethnic society. We are dedicated to promoting the mental well being of all citizens in our community. Since 1947, we have been at the forefront of improving access to and the practice of mental health treatment, consumer rights, reducing stigma, preventing mental illness and promoting mental well being.
MHA provides innovative services such as early intervention/prevention programs for inner-city and homeless children ages 2-5 and their families, a program where trained volunteers 'listen' to at-risk students in their schools, a self-esteem enhancement initiative in grade schools, programs for homeless women, and supportive permanent housing assistance for the homeless. Advocacy, information/referral and public education on mental health issues are also part of our services.
