We have attended productions by the Marin Shakespeare Company every summer for nearly 20 years, and we feel that summer is not summer without our evenings of live theater under the stars at Forest Meadows Amphitheater! We trust them for consistently excellent and essential entertainment and we recommend them to everybody. If you enjoy live theater, you will not experience better in the SF Bay Area than the Marin Shakespeare productions!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

experiencing nearly all their productions for the past 20 years! They do an amazing job with amazing talent. We look forward to their productions every summer.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Oh my God! What this group could do with 10 million bucks! It would be put to amazing use! The productions could continue year round, and they could expand their community outreach and their artistic and dramatic educational opportunities. Wow!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

professional, fun, well-prepared, and energetic!

I have followed Marin Shakespeare for almost 20 years and have continuously been impressed with the artistic quality of performances that need to be seen to be appreciated. I have also been to many Shakespeare centers such as Ashland, OR, and, although they need money for costumes, lighting and stage settings, the artistic performance is unsurpassed. I have been pleased enough to join the Board of Directors in order to help reach the goals of finding additional money and community awareness

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

working the the manager and artistic director about the neads of Marin Shakespeare in San Francisco Bay area.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

intelligent and interested in common goals for the betterment of the organization.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

increase outreach programs to the community including K-12 with actor-teachers. Schools with many students with English as a 2nd language could teach the depth and basis of the language which comes from learning and seeing The Bard in real time.

I acted in one of their shows and also teach for them. This is a wonderful company, bringing terrific productions of Shakespeare's plays (and others) to the outdoor summer stage. The work is always lively, engaging, and very entertaining. And their classes for kids bring the joys of acting and Shakespeare to hundreds of kids all over the Bay Area year in and year out.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

being part of their wonderful productions and fine educational programs.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

is how dedicated they are to theater, and how down-to-earth they are.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

extremely dedicated and warm--great people to work with!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

improve its sets and seating and costumes, and make their production values even more professional than they already are.

I love outdoor theatre at night, under the stars, so Marin Shakespeare Company makes many summer nights happy for me. Their productions are superb and unique from one to the other. I know I can trust the artistic excellence of directors and actors to put on a splendid show. MSC also has a huge educational emphasis that many people don't realize. They are a tremendous force in theatre for children of the San Francisco bay area, filling such a critical need.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

watching children become engaged in exciting theatrical experiences.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

watching gifted actors thrill audiences of all ages under the stars on summer nights.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

all the tops in their fields.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

build their own theatre and enlarge their summer camps for children, both much needed in the community.

The first time I went to Marin Shakespeare many years ago, I was blown away by the quality of theater available so close to home at Forest Meadows. Over the past 10+ years, my wife and I have continued to be delighted and entertained. Each summer brings delightful new treats!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

attending numerous great performances!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

witnessing the expansion of their education programs. Children gain so much self confidence by experiencing stage craft.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Develop the forest meadows amphitheater into a first class site

The greatest risk in life is to never risk at all! The Marin Shakespeare Family of Artists support, believe and explore lifes daily challenges from conception to rehearsal to performance, as a siti working together. Their rainbow of life from the magical world energizes all inhabitants. Join MSC's siti on their next magical evening and share the energy of life among friends. The little eyes in the trees or in the woods haven't paid for their tickets, but support Shakespeare's players every day and night...don't worry they don't bite, vegetarians! Enjoy.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

every capacity...keep reaching for the stars!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Hire more professioanl staff(stage manager)... Positive, supportive, respectfull.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I made great friends and worked with supportive, kind artists.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

For the most part supportive, I believe the level of respect to individuals working for a common goal could extend beyond the more established artists.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

produce more plays, have more equity contracts, build a new venue, hire outside directors, live more!

Ways to make it better...

I played Brutus!haha, I enjoyed my characters.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Control! Let the artists and directors explore non-traditional type casting.

One thing I'd also say is that...

All you need is Love!

I've been attending the Marin Shakespeare Company performances for many years and watched these fine productions become fabulously outstanding. For my family and friends It's been a marvelous way to gather for picnic or an on site dinner & talk before the performance. Outdoors, in Domincan University's Forest Meadows we've seen rainbows and stars lend magical touches to the plays. . Now that I have the good fortune to be a volunteer I've come to realize that this great gift to our community has been brought about by talents and old fashioned hard work of Lesley and Bob Currier. They are the real magic, the genial forces that have given us this gift of remarkable theatre.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Attending the plays and appreciating the talents of actors recruited from all over the country. The, sound system, settings, lighting and props have been wonderfully constructed.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

improve the economy so that the Marin Shakespeare Company could have a more flexible budget.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the consistently high standards of the performances

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

interesting, cordial and helpful

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

all of the above

Ways to make it better...

there were funds to renovate the theatre and improve the seating. Additional funds for purchasing better fabrics for the costumes would be helpful.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

spinning gold out of straw

One thing I'd also say is that...

Thank you Lesley and Bob

I have worked with this company as an independent artist for over a dozen years and have watched them grow in quality, organization and artistic strength. I also happen to live near where their youth companies hold their summer classes and it is a great pleasure to see how enthusiastically and professionally they train kids from grammar school and up in the theater arts. Working actors passing their craft and love of art to the next generation.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

countless productions of Shakespeare.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

their commitment to the work. Full and unstinting.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dedicated to the company and, like, most theater folk, generous and kind to a fault.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

tour productions full time, employ larger casts. Buy up to date lights and sound.

Marin Shakes is a special theater company because it touches so many diverse people in different ways. I was amazed at how they drew the entire community in to participate: from the children in 'Twelfth Night' and the school groups watching 'Julius Caesar' to the people completing community service hours watching avidly from the back of the theater. And, of course, working for Marin Shakes changed my life. I'll never forget that perfect summer, performing Shakespeare under the stars.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my direction in life. I came to realize during this summer, that if I'm not sharing the wonderful experience of live Shakespeare with people for the rest of my life, I'm not being true to myself.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I learned how to act. I learned why to act. I haven't stopped acting since.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

incredible role models. I still ask them for advice, and strive to be like them.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

reach more school children who think Shakespeare is boring, give more prison inmates the chance to act and express themselves creatively and allow more poor college kids like me the chance to pursue their passion for Shakespearean acting.
