Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world. Our 1.3 million members in 205 countries and geographic areas recycle eyeglasses, conduct vision, hearing and diabetes screenings, support eye hospitals, award scholarships, build parks, help youth and provide disaster relief.

It costs Lions less than US$0.08 to provide a pair of recycled eyeglasses and change someone's life. For children, clear vision means a better education, healthier development and a better quality of life. For adults, it means greater employment opportunity and economic strength. For seniors it means less dependence on others. Lions clubs collect millions of eyeglasses each year, making eyeglass recycling one of our most popular activities.

Reviews for Lions Clubs International

Rating: 5 stars

Lions may not be well known for what they have done for 206 country that have Lions club, but we are organization that gets down and dirty. Lions have eradicated River Blindness, Lions have built schools, homes, and hospitals in countries that need them and now are working with the Rotary Club we have goal have every child immunized against measles. In the USA Lions have been involved in every major disaster, we are actively involved with Special Olympians, giving free eye exams and glasses to any Olympian that needs them. Lion do free eye test and hearing test. If someone can afford glasses we take care of the cost for the client. Lions. Lions also educate the public on diabetes We were called to be Knights of the Blind by Helen Keller and Lions take that very seriously. Not one penny that is donated to Lions is used for administration cost but goes directly to the people in need. If their was a rating higher than 5 I would give Lion a 10+.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The smiles I child gives you because you were able to give them opportunity to a camp specifically set up for seeing impaired and hearing impaired children with no cost to the child. The thrill of a special Olympian that gets his first set of glasses and he can see the world clearly.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Have more people involved, as Lions so we can reach out to more people in need.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

Lions go above the call of educating their volunteers Lions have on lines classes to how to lead a group to conflict resolution some of the classes are taught in a campus setting givng LIons an opportunity to interact with other Lions. Every single class I have taken has not only helped me as a Lion but as a Human being. I have made friends that are only my friends but my family.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

By Volunteering for Lions I have received 10 time more than I have given by the warmth in my heart.
